Proxy Panic Ignites the Chat
I'd developed a slight, meaningless inner fondness for Crisu, but that had nothing to do with how I judged her games. We had fought just yesterday, after all, and with all the controversies swirling around me, I couldn't exactly view her in a positive light.
That said, Crisu—no, WungnyaWungnya's play was utterly flawless.
"…She's good."
I'd tuned into her stream right when she was playing support, bad timing on my part, but honestly, I was impressed. I watched the whole game, and a gasp slipped out before I knew it.
From minute wave management to securing vision, protecting the ADC—everything.
This level of detail was rare even among pro supports. She hadn't been this good yesterday. Had she undergone some kind of total rebirth overnight?
Metamorphosis, or whatever the word was.
Of course, compared to top ladder climbers or actual pros, there were still rough edges, but even accounting for that, this was talent-level play. A diamond in the rough, getting polished…
I should tell Seong Yujin to learn from her. Grinding 30 games a day like this clearly builds skill. That guy's always slacking off, trying to sneak in other games.
Still, no matter how sudden the improvement, Challenger was a stretch. I didn't want to downplay WungnyaWungnya's win streak, but her team RNG today had been insanely good—no denying it.
The game ended, my focus naturally drifted, and that's when the chat caught my eye. It was buzzing with all sorts of talk. Mostly praise for Crisu, but some mentions of me too. The standout ones, though…
These cockroaches are everywhere, huh.
Sure, a sudden skill spike overnight could raise eyebrows. And skipping cam today didn't help.
But spamming chat like this openly? Usually just trolls trying to burn the place down.
And while suspicions were fair, from what I'd seen myself, both yesterday's and today's plays were definitely Crisu. Today's was sharper, sure, but the little habits, in-game tics—all identical. Could be a proxy with the exact same quirks by coincidence, but if we were betting, I'd put money on no way. Plus, factor in the team luck for that streak.
If it wasn't Crisu from the start, that's one thing… but nah, pointless speculation. She had the cam on yesterday anyway.
Unlike my expectation it'd blow over, the chat fire suddenly exploded. Right as she was on the cusp of Challenger, Crisu announced a quick break and dipped. That's when the trolls flooded in from god-knows-where.
The chat avalanche hit so fast I could barely keep up, then Crisu returned and typed.
She must've checked chat right away, but the spam overwhelmed her—she looked flustered.
Viewers were already high from the drama. Proxy talk spiked, numbers surged, chat broke. Crisu froze, no responses.
Finally, she snapped out of it, froze chat. Realizing she couldn't fix this via text, she unmuted, voice laced with confusion.
"What the hell is this? Proxy?"
No reactions in frozen chat, obviously. She unfroze with a 5-min slowmode, spam resuming.
Seeming to grasp it, Crisu scoffed in disbelief. But,
"Wait, what? Proxy? No way. Like, embarrassing to even say, but have I been carrying these wins? Nah, I've just been along for the ride. Days like today happen sometimes, y'know."
She tried acting tough, but her voice betrayed her shake—not guilt, just unfamiliar panic. Normal for a minor in this mess.
Trolls didn't care.
"Ah, no, I said it's not."
Crisu kept denying, but that wouldn't end it.
Chat toxicity ramped up, her voice trembled louder then faded. Suddenly, no voice—just a sniffle. I figured she was crying; everyone else did too.
Some loyal fans cheered her on, but they were drowned out. Things were escalating dangerously when Crisu spoke.
Chat halted for a beat.
"You fucking psycho bastards."
…Huh?
"I try to let it slide and you go full retard. You shitheads got any proof for your bullshit? Pushing it 'cause I'm nice."
"Calm down? Fuck that."
"Keep telling me to chill and it's a full-on party now. Don't you feel pathetic? Dice this, Dice that—like yesterday's mess didn't prove otherwise? You'd do the same if it was you. Hell, you'd forum-post first."
…Was she always like this? Nah, even longtime fans were spamming weirdly, shocked. Not her stream persona.
Dragging me into smearing her pissed me off. One chat, fine—but it was piling up. Probably Elgal trash stirring shit.
Infuriating.
Dragging me into this? No matter how you slice it, shitty.
"Yeah, fuck off. Just turn on cam, done. Watch, you parasites."
Crisu's aggressive pivot threw chat into chaos. Some said her language was too much, others "classic proxy personality," some "this fierce? Maybe not proxy," others "Risoo calm down;;."
Extreme measure, but it was shifting opinion her way—fierce denial plus cam promise sold it.
Still, trolls kept dragging me in. She probably still thought I trolled on purpose.
So, I did what I'd been mulling. Nail down the reversal, clear my name too.
Yeah, superchat.
I'd half-planned this apology anyway. Coach said stay quiet, but sitting this out? No balls. Unmanly.
Ah, shit, wait—don't have 'em anymore.
Chat exploded post-donation, Crisu's voice quaking hard.
"Wha—what? Uh… huh?"
In the chaos, Crisu finally regrouped and said,
"…For real?"
No shit, obviously.
