Humans are Treacherous.
With that.
The DIY classroom of the generator production authority, Dr. Rin, has now been completed with the renovation of the greenhouse and the means of transportation.
The greenhouse is hydroponics.
We’ll supply oxygen continuously underwater using an air pump for aquariums, and we’ll maintain the temperature constantly by utilizing the waste heat from the oven in Room 203.
Originally, when we renovated the indoor shower booth, we repurposed the pipe that heated the water and placed it on the side of the greenhouse. While growing plants in the greenhouse, we agreed not to refuse night shifts for the oven.
We upgraded the existing ultra-small styrofoam greenhouse, enlarged it a bit, and replaced the LED bulbs attached inside with newly purchased LED plant lights after salvaging them.
And the plant nutrient solution is in the warehouse along with the seeds.
“If I blink for even a day, the plants will freeze to death. What a magical renovation.”
“Hey hey. Just say it’s a magical renovation that won’t kill you if you don’t blink and they’ll grow like crazy.”
Harin poked my side while evaluating the renovated greenhouse.
Actually, since we haven’t started growing plants yet, this is something we’ll have to wait and see about when the time comes to raise them.
So.
Instead, what stands out is the new means of transportation, don’t you think?
“No way… Wow… The ski bike is awesome?”
“That’s me.”
Harin made the ski bike by modifying a bicycle as the new means of transportation.
“Why didn’t you make it sooner?”
“That’s bad language.”
We replaced the front wheels with wide ski brackets, swapped the rear wheels with longer axles, and added stability with a timing belt from dual rear wheels and a car.
We waxed the ski bottom and used aviation de-icer from the airport as lubricant for the rear dual wheels and belt.
“But… I wish there was a way to deal with getting hit directly by the cold wind on the face.”
“That’s a shame. For now, just endure it.”
We properly fixed the cover we made to prevent snow and ice from accumulating, and attached a chain to the back so we can hitch a cargo sled.
So, right now, we’re racing down the road at quite a fast speed.
In the current situation where subway tracks are unsafe, it seems like a highly useful means of transportation.
And.
While racing down the road, something suddenly comes to mind.
“Harin.”
“Yes?”
“… Brakes?”
“Ah, right.”
Thinking about it, damn, this new means of transportation is all good, but there were no brakes.
We were so excited, revving the pedals like crazy to max out speed, but there was no way to slow down. It was a fantastic means of transportation.
“Damn…!!! Brakes…! Brakes!!”
“Kyaaak!!!”
Weeeeeeee!!!!
It’s over!!!!
Brake failure! Damn, we’re speeding on an eight-ton truck, you bastard!!!!
I almost went straight to meet my mom.
It was a happy story where, despite promising to meet only in dreams, I almost became a filial son by buying a one-way ticket to the afterlife.
“I remember the rubber sled too, that was fun.”
“… When I get home, I’ll add brakes first.”
Fortunately, there was a suitable snowy field along the way, so we just plowed into it, covered in ash and snow, and ended up there.
Anyway.
The place we’re heading on the ski bike is Gimpo Airport.
This time, the airport contacted us first.
Usually, I keep the frequency tuned to Kim Min-seo’s, switching to the airport frequency only when needed, but since our help was needed, they contacted us first by finding our frequency.
“Oppa.”
“Why.”
They asked to sell some weapons.
So, in the cargo sled attached behind our ski bike, there are shotguns stacked up that we haven’t used much, left in the armory.
“Is it okay to give this many?”
“For now, since people around us are friendly, if the airport group all die, it’ll be a problem in its own way.”
Having the Gimpo Airport group get overrun by survivors is a scenario I don’t want at all.
Currently, the people occupying the airport need to stay there long-term and act as a defensive wall for us, so the threats coming towards us will decrease.
“That’s true, but…”
“It’s fine. After all, they’re things we won’t use. For things we can’t deal with, we should exchange them for necessary items as soon as possible.”
Moreover, the good condition shotguns we’ll use are left in the armory.
I don’t have a good sense of how to price the firearms, but since the other side needs them, we can get a good deal.
We stopped in front of Gimpo Airport Station.
Inside the place that looks like a makeshift bunker, a sentry is standing.
“Ah, you’re here. This time, your girlfriend came with you too.”
“… Are you doing sentry duty here too?”
“Haha, what kind of duty is sentry duty?”
This time, instead of the tracks, we were going down from above, and somehow, that person was still the sentry.
Park Young-ho greeted us with a grin.
“Why aren’t you asking for the password?”
“It’s not worth the time to ask for the password. Let’s go in quickly.”
Now, I don’t even think about asking for the password.
Previously, I only felt annoyed when asked for the password, but now that I don’t ask and just let them pass, I feel strangely disappointed.
“No, I prepared a hearty ‘rairaichaicha’ cheer.”
“That kind of password never existed in the first place.”
I could have called it out while doing the full ‘paengpaengsoo’ cheer, but refusing it is a bit too much.
Thinking this, I entered the airport.
Every time I see the inside of the airport, I always think:
“Ah, the 303 guy is here? Tobacco?”
“… It wasn’t a tobacco trade, though. I brought one pack as a gift, so here you go.”
One more person has been lost. The expressions on people’s faces are getting darker day by day.
This time, it wasn’t just the three ‘sa’-class slaves that decreased, but the people from the airport group who dominated as the ruling class for the past half year.
It’s hard to tell how many have decreased, but the darkened expressions of the group members prove that the situation isn’t great.
“Huu… Thanks, really. Lately, the tobacco distribution has also decreased, so I was dying for it.”
“It might not be a bad idea to quit now.”
“That’s probably impossible. If it weren’t for this, I would have committed suicide long ago?”
Of course, Park Jinseok is tenderly caressing the one pack of tobacco I gave him as if it’s precious, with an expression as if he doesn’t care about anything as long as he gets tobacco.
Every time I come periodically, I can’t deny that the situation of the airport group is not improving but rather declining.
“So. First, I’m curious why weapons are needed. Are you planning to wage war with other survivors?”
“Ah. That. Sigh… Thinking about it makes me want to smoke again, damn. Let’s go to the smoking area over there first. I’ll tell you there.”
He naturally opened the cigarette pack I gave him and lit a cigarette, turning his steps towards the smoking area.
Park Jinseok’s sigh-filled story was roughly like that.
“No, that guy, damn, said he ran away with usable firearms?”
“Is it betrayal?”
A group member in charge of the armory disappeared. More precisely, he vanished along with the usable weapons in the armory.
“Probably betrayal. I didn’t think he’d betray, but it’s damn frustrating.”
“Well, were there no signs? Any small changes from usual, or something?”
“Changes? Ah, there was. The woman he was with also disappeared. She was a new survivor, and she was really damn pretty.”
Ah.
This is that.
“… Was it the pretty woman who was wandering alone asking for help on the tracks?”
“What? How did you know?”
It’s the story continuing from the new information I heard from Kim Min-seo.
“I heard it from another colleague. They said to be careful of the suspicious flower snake wandering the subway tracks.”
“Damn… So it was a flower snake. Still, I loved her, damn woman… Give me a few more.”
Is he an idiot?
I looked at Park Jinseok with that gaze. Probably, the men who didn’t hold back their dick radar and accepted him without suspicion were the problem.
“Don’t take just anyone as a colleague. In this world now, there are real cases where it leads to getting fucked over.”
“But we had no choice. Last time when we went farming, the group members died too many in other areas. We needed to replenish the numbers.”
I also learned the reason why so many group members were empty, along with the reason for needing weapon replenishment.
Anyway.
Our trade items are 12 shotguns. Since we’ve been farming around and accumulating shotguns, there are quite a few, so we left only the good condition ones and brought all the rest.
“I can’t give a lot of ammunition.”
“Ah, there’s plenty of ammo left, so it’s fine. And if there are things you want to take, let me know?”
There are tons of things we want to trade.
After all, Gimpo Airport is one of the largest airports in Korea after Incheon, so there were way too many supplies for just 70 people to consume.
Moreover, now it’s even less than 70.
Just three ‘sa’-class slaves and about 30 airport group members, so even if I take a ton, there won’t be any problem.
So, without worrying about my conscience, I spat out everything needed.
“First, food is obvious. I also want to receive additional radios, check other communication equipment, look at refrigeration equipment or usable tools, medicines and fuel too. Ah, there are some bulletproof vests left?”
“… Yeah. Yeah, that… There are more than I expected. I’ll check them first.”
After all, with that number of people, they won’t be able to use all of them.
Damn, take everything.
This is the price I’m offering for the shotguns.
