Your Ability Isn't That Simple. (1)
But the post I'd seen on the community turns out to be less a "post I saw" and more...
Tell me all the info you guys know, babies!
"As the saying goes, if there's a problem you can't solve alone, it's best to grab even a white paper and charge in."
By posting a question on the hunter community, he expects to draw the right kind of aggro. Of course, based on his long intuition as a cyber ghost, if no decent answers come even from that...
He'd have no choice but to pull out the vicious aggro tactics. But as he's seen many times before—and having met them in person during hunter registration—the fact that being a hunter on this hellish peninsula proves a baseline of decent humanity...
After posting that kind of thread, finishing prep for lunch with "egg bibimbap sounds good," and coming back, the community notifications are blinking nonstop.
He sets the rice bowl down, scoops bites with a spoon, and starts checking the alerts one by one.
Of course, when a question like this pops up, the community ghosts—aka the "Explainer"—always show up without fail.
Checking the alerts sneakily, most are from a hunter using the nickname Explainer, written with utmost sincerity.
So he peeks at the content, and from our Explainer dude and a few other hunters:
"What the—why's it so packed with info."
Not only does it give exactly the info he wanted, but as a bonus—though unintended—he learns his GapThrone records alone are solid proof.
With that, he nods, satisfied. "This should be no problem."
Of course, once he sorts it out, a question pops up: Wait, doesn't that mean all my records get exposed?
Naturally, he's not the only one wondering, as another anon hunter posts something similar.
And the veteran hunters reply:
Some folks share tower records publicly, but plenty wanna live quiet without exposing.
"Got it."
They spill even more detailed info in another way. He nods at that, scrapes the last of his egg bibimbap,
does a quick rinse to clear the sink, then heads straight to the Hunter Management Bureau branch on Foot Mountain to start the promotion process.
A bit later.
There are tedious paperwork procedures, but since it's boring, he skips it lightly in his head.
Similar to B-rank but the "targets" are way tougher than before...
Whatever. Unlike B-rank where 20mm was top firepower,
now he has 30mm versatile autocannon beyond that, plus 15mm,
and as the finishing touch, blasts the target set to Hard mode 10th floor orc great warrior defense with the Alabong, vaporizing it in one shot.
"Test complete, good work!"
"...Heard about that guy from before, but no way there's really a hunter trait that just uses modern weapons like this."
"I win, right? Pay up, losers."
"Uh, mic's still on, sir."
"Ah."
"Test proctors in Room 3, submit incident reports."
"Ah."
Midway, the test overseers—hunters or bureaucrats?—have their true fanboy side burst out, nearly making him crack up, but a minor issue.
Anyway, clearing all their tests smoothly means he'll snag A-rank easy,
and through that, get the full item and gear support he barely glimpsed at B-rank—a bright rosy future.
But if it stopped here, it'd flow just as planned, he'd yell "perfect!" and coast smoothly.
Right after clearing tests, the proctors all scatter to write reports, leaving him hanging.
Wondering what to do, he idly counts screws on a nearby pillar when—
"Hey, I read the file on your trait, but... something seems off about how it's written."
"Huh?"
A woman with a purple ponytail appears out of nowhere behind him, dropping that bombshell without warning.
He's hit with intense brain freeze, wondering what the hell this is.
