Just like that, holding Aurora's hand and blinking once took them from the opulent halls of Earth's palace—surrounded by dazzling splendor—to Kaldir's fortress, nothing but icy mountains in every direction. While Shuga's group was away, Colonel Astra—who'd found the suicide note Shuga had left in the room she shared with Kaldir—approached Aurora for a private word. With no reason to refuse, Aurora followed the colonel into her office and shut the door.
"I've been trying to accept the relationship between our Kaldir and Shuga..."
The colonel sat down with a heavy sigh, her voice drained of strength. Yeah, no wonder. She'd dismissed Shuga's childhood declarations of "I'm gonna marry Kaldir when we grow up!" as kid stuff. The gun in Shuga's hand was unmistakably a six-shooter revolver for National Defense Force officers. Aurora was shocked—I figured it'd take ages to rummage through that huge collection vault...—and the colonel was horrified to see it there at all.
What the hell? Did she hear everything from start to finish? Where's Solt? She didn't get shot by a deranged Shuga already, did she? Anyway, time to stop Shuga. Leaving a pistol in the hands of a girl who'd never fired one was way too dangerous.
