Chapter 8
Chapter 8
The Game-Addicted Beautiful Girl Wants to Eat Tteokbokki
“It’s fucking hot….”
The man climbing off the motorcycle removed his helmet and wiped the cold sweat gathered on his forehead.
Hot and humid.
The sunlight beating down from above was scorching.
It was already September, so why the hell was the weather still this brutal?
Even now, daytime temperatures remained as hot as summer, enough that simply riding around on a motorcycle like this drained all his energy.
‘So sick of this, seriously.’
Wouldn’t it be nice if I just won the lottery or something.
The man casually pulled a lotto ticket from his wallet, glanced at it, then quietly placed it back inside.
He didn’t actually expect to win.
The greater the expectation, the greater the disappointment afterward.
If you filled yourself with pointless hopes, even the little you had could be taken away.
The lottery ticket itself was merely part of his routine, something bought to survive the week with a tiny sliver of hope.
Almost like a charm of some sort.
“Let’s see, what floor was it….”
Another day exactly like always.
The delivery worker opened the bag attached behind the motorcycle and checked the destination for the food.
“Fifth floor… ‘The doorbell is broken, please knock at the door.’ And… card payment in person?”
Whenever customers wrote requests like this, they never came out after one knock.
Muttering under his breath, the delivery worker headed toward the destination.
Hopefully the customer wouldn’t turn out to be some lunatic who got angry after multiple knocks.
A fairly clean one-room apartment neighborhood.
The delivery worker headed toward one of the more secluded buildings.
Toward the building where the customer lived, hidden among countless similar-looking apartments.
“What kind of bullshit is this? The elevator’s under inspection too….”
And this was only the first delivery of the day.
Apparently luck was completely against him today.
Holding the plastic bag containing the food in one hand, the delivery worker slowly climbed the stairs.
Honestly, the fifth floor wasn’t even that high.
But perhaps because of the weather, even this light movement made sweat begin trickling down his body, causing him to sigh quietly.
Heat seeped out from the food inside the bag, still fresh from cooking.
Sneaking a glance at the contents, he frowned.
“Tteokbokki again….”
One of those foods that appeared at least once every single day when working deliveries.
To the delivery worker, tteokbokki was exactly that kind of existence.
Was it really that good?
The question naturally arose.
Of course, he’d eaten tteokbokki many times since childhood.
But he simply couldn’t understand why people ordered expensive delivery tteokbokki so often.
It wasn’t like eating it was so delicious your eyes rolled back in ecstasy.
‘Probably a woman.’
The delivery worker was almost certain the customer was female.
Most men shared a similar thought process to him, meaning they rarely ordered delivery tteokbokki unless the restaurant was running some absurd discount event.
Women, on the other hand, generally tended to like tteokbokki.
Even his ex-girlfriend had constantly dragged him to tteokbokki or malatang restaurants whenever they met.
Why did people buy tteokbokki? Why did women like tteokbokki so much?
One meaningless thought led to another until—
Before he realized it, he’d arrived at the customer’s door.
“Ahem.”
He took a moment to steady his breathing.
Now he had to knock and hand over the food.
Embarrassingly enough, the delivery worker was extremely introverted, so he tended to be rather cautious about knocking on strangers’ doors like this.
Carefully, but loud enough to be heard.
Knock knock—
Exactly twice.
After knocking, the delivery worker waited nervously for a response from inside.
But even after five seconds.
Then ten seconds.
Not a single sound came from within.
‘Knew it.’
Just as expected, the customer hadn’t appeared after one knock.
Taking a breath, he knocked again.
Slightly harder this time.
Knock knock knock—
He even added one extra knock.
‘Surely they’ll come out now?’
But once again, his hopes were mercilessly ignored.
Honestly, he’d had a bad feeling ever since seeing the elevator out of order.
Today really was cursed.
‘You’re testing my limits here.’
The delivery worker sighed deeply before knocking again.
Much harder than before.
BANG BANG BANG—!
Somewhere between polite knocking and full-on pounding.
There was absolutely no way someone couldn’t hear this.
Whatever the customer was doing inside, not hearing a sound this loud made no sense unless they’d secretly gone out.
‘They’re not gonna complain that I knocked too hard, right.’
The delivery worker recalled his past experiences with nightmare customers while staring straight ahead.
Then suddenly—
The door burst open, and someone rushed out.
It was clearly the customer he’d been waiting for.
Suppressing the faint irritation bubbling inside, the delivery worker forced a polite smile and held the food forward to quickly hand it over and leave—
“Uh….”
Then he stopped mid-motion and let out a soft gasp.
The person who opened the door was indeed a woman, just as he expected.
A woman, but—
“Ahh, I’m sorry! I was in the middle of something and couldn’t leave for a second. Hehe….”
The sight of her lowering her head slightly while smiling looked unbelievably lovely.
Perhaps she hadn’t fixed her hair properly, because part of it stuck out messily in the back, making her strangely cute.
Most importantly, she was beautiful.
To an almost unbelievable degree.
But that wasn’t the only reason the delivery worker gasped.
“Ah, could you give me the tteokbokki? No wait, I need to pay first. Hold on….”
The woman suddenly vanished back behind the door, and only then did the delivery worker snap out of it enough to shake his head.
‘...What the hell did I just see?’
His reaction wasn’t merely because the customer was as beautiful as a celebrity.
The real reason was her clothing.
Just one oversized white T-shirt.
A large boxy shirt covering her upper body and reaching down to her thighs.
So far, no issue.
But recalling the brief moment he’d seen her—
There definitely hadn’t been anything underneath—.
“Oh dear, I keep making you wait. Sorry. I just insert the card here, right?”
“Huh? Ah, y-yes….”
The woman inserted her card into the payment terminal he held, accepted the tteokbokki, and apologized once more.
Yet until that entire process ended—
The delivery worker remained completely dazed.
And by the time he finally regained his senses, he was already back on the first floor of the apartment building.
“H-Hahaha….”
The delivery worker laughed foolishly to himself while walking toward his motorcycle.
Then instead of immediately driving off to another restaurant, he sat down on a nearby bench for a moment.
It felt dangerous to drive right now.
‘Feels like I got bewitched or something.’
His mind felt hazy for some reason.
His face was burning hot too.
Now he finally understood why adults used to warn him to be careful around women.
‘Thought today was just cursed.’
Turns out, it was actually a lucky day.
After all, he’d just met a beauty so stunning he completely forgot about his ex-girlfriend.
The delivery worker sat on the bench for several minutes, replaying the memory in his head.
“Sss… haa. Hff. Sss. Haa.”
Tears naturally welled in my eyes, and strange sounds escaped my mouth.
Not weird sounds.
Don’t misunderstand.
I was simply eating tteokbokki.
True to its terrifying description, it didn’t take long for the bright red sauce to completely dominate my mouth.
“Ughh… why is this so good.”
After stuffing myself with tteokbokki several times while my eyes watered, I finally put my chopsticks down.
Definitely not because it was too spicy.
I just didn’t want to upset my stomach by eating too quickly.
Yeah, that was it.
A strategic retreat, you could say.
Cooling my burning mouth with Coolpis, I organized my thoughts.
Why had I ordered tteokbokki?
I usually couldn’t even handle spicy food and never touched this stuff.
There was only one reason.
Because my body had changed.
I opened a delivery app thinking I should eat something, and for some reason—
I desperately wanted tteokbokki.
I knew it sounded ridiculous, but it was true.
Like cats rolling around helplessly after smelling catnip, I felt instinctively drawn toward it.
Tteokbokki, malatang, fat macarons…
By the time I realized my eyes kept drifting toward those foods, it was already too late.
Before I knew it, I’d ordered a tteokbokki set costing sixteen thousand won.
Though technically I couldn’t help it because of the minimum order amount.
Still, it was an incredible expense.
Especially considering my bank account now contained less than one million won total.
One million won.
A lot if you looked at it one way, very little if you looked at it another.
But there was no denying it was an unstable amount for actually living.
‘After rent and maintenance fees, things are obviously gonna get tight.’
Especially if unexpected expenses appeared impulsively like today.
And now that my body had changed, there were all sorts of additional costs waiting too.
Spending this much on food alone was absurd.
Still, this was practically an accident caused by my transformed body.
There was no way I could’ve predicted or prevented something like this.
Humans had always been slaves to hormones.
And I was currently a slave to tteokbokki, unable to resist it.
Something like that.
“Nom.”
The tteokbokki was delicious.
Delicious enough for Camilla, who fought on the battlefields of Abyss, to finish the meal in complete satisfaction.
I apparently ate much more than expected for my size.
As someone who enjoyed food, it was honestly a relief that my appetite hadn’t shrunk.
Anyway, that wasn’t the important thing right now.
After finishing the short yet intense meal, I made a solemn declaration.
“I need to make money.”
At this rate, I’d literally run out of money and starve to death.
But how?
What should I do to earn money?
“Mmm….”
Several ideas came to mind, but there was only one thing I both wanted to do and could realistically do immediately.
The thing I was best at.
“Streaming is the only answer.”
It was time to start streaming.
