Superstar's First Ad
The superstar's first ad. What happened yesterday was nothing. No, it actually just makes me stronger. Gotta have trials like this to grow, right? Yeah. I just need to head to the mart and grab a keyboard, easy peasy.
There's a big mart nearby, so it'll be quick. I set off for the large mart after ages.
It's been forever since I last went to a large mart. I've been living off delivery food, so trips like this have dropped way off.
Back in the day, ice cream was a must when it got hot, but not anymore. Heck, eating ice cream now might make me shiver. Anyway, I wandered around in a daze. I could take a taxi, but I deliberately didn't.
I thought I had a body that never gained weight. For real. I couldn't understand people who gained from just drinking water. But nope. Turns out I have gained weight...! Proof? My clothes don't fit right. Earlier, two or three outfits wouldn't go on, and I freaked out.
They're tight. This feeling was so new and weird, kinda mysterious and off-putting. Gotta ask Mom to buy me new clothes later.
But that's not the point right now. Snap out of it. I'm here for a keyboard, dummy. Can't fall for the large mart's temptations. Stay focused. Absolutely. I shook my head to clear it.
A large mart is a scary place. Lose focus, and your cart's piled high before you know it...!
Caution upon caution.
I'd already arrived at the large mart. I swallowed hard and stepped inside slowly.
Just walking forward, and... that looks tasty...
Gulp.
Ughhh... I have to get this... I tossed a frozen dumpling set into the cart.
Aaaah! I really have to get this one...! A mirror. Having one only in the bathroom is inconvenient. A full-length one would be nice... but that's too big, and the small one's too tiny. Something medium-sized would be perfect.
Whoa! I totally have to buy this! Cotton swabs and wet wipes—mine at home are all gone. Life's subtly annoying without 'em.
No, but seriously, I need this. Wow. Found it... here of all places. A neck and shoulder massager. See it in ads all the time, been dying to try one. Gotta get this.
Whoa, this large mart... got me again. Snapped out of it, and my cart was already full. Food, storage boxes, essentials—tons. But delivery's a thing, so no worries.
I checked my phone banking app right away. Beep beep. Beep. If it said "Insufficient funds! Deposit more!" I'd die of shame, so better now. But no need—plenty for this haul. Phew.
Good. Head home now? Huh? Go home? Feels like I forgot something... what was it?
Beep. Beep... Beep. Beep. Beep. Beep.
Huh...? Oh! Right. Forgot the keyboard! Whoa, almost blew it! Thank goodness. Thank goodness.
Almost forgot the most important thing. I made it home with just a mechanical blue-switch keyboard.
Plugged it in, then clack clack clack clack.
"Nice. Perfect."
The sound's great. This boosts my combat power by 100 times. Hoo, watch out world. Today's different.
To test the keyboard, I fired up the stream and Arena World right away.
"Welcome in."
Why so many viewers today? Usually twenties at this hour, thirties around late chat. But three digits from the jump.
"Valpa?"
Never heard of it. Not my thing. Just went live early to flex.
Clackclackclackclack. Clackclackclackclackclack.
Clackclack. Clackclackclackclackclack.
"Yup, spot on. Valpa today, right? Watching that, then straight to boss runs."
Flexed the keyboard hard, and Valpa dropped. My character's nerfed.
But gotta see the details. Seeing once beats hearing a hundred times. Summoned a dummy, tried Cyclone.
Feels about the same...
Hmm... No clue what changed. What's weaker? Zero idea.
"Uh... Not feeling it on the dummy. Let's try real combat."
Entered the easiest label.
"Hmm..."
Still no sense.
"I... really have no idea. Like, zero feel?"
Tried it—no difference? Seriously can't tell what got nerfed.
Oh, right. Main server. What a pointless stunt. Finally dawned on me.
My ears burned. So embarrassing. Wanna crawl into a hole. Ugh! Gonna kick the blanket tonight. Aaaah.
One dona sparked a bloodbath. I scrambled to calm things. Whew, why fight in my stream!
Was playing Arena World when...
Ding. Ding. Ding.
What? Sounded huge. Hid the screen, checked Discord.
"Oh right, ad today. Yeah, yeah. Sorry guys, ending here to... set up the ad. Right, back at 6:25! Sorry! Be quick!"
6:10 on the clock. Editor saved me from disaster. Killed the stream, called her, got help, barely set up.
Then joined the Discord room.
Ad's a demo? Explanation for newbies. 5 mins left. Chatted with MaguFather after forever. First time just us since keyboard battle.
"Hi! MaguFather."
"Long time. Doing well?"
"I'm great! But you're an employee, right?"
"Hahaha yes. Heard some didn't know?"
"Eek. How'd you know?"
"Browsed the comms a bit. Gotta check sentiment. Hahaha. Enjoying it?"
Hehe. I'm already jjang.
"Me? Pokedex full already. When's live PvP? Feels like Bunny Princess, bored."
"Al... already? Too much?"
"Hmm... Slow the pace?"
"That'd be great. Spill stories on stream? Starting soon. And I look forward to your guides, Sena."
"Y-yeah! Will do my best!"
Gonna pour my heart out for newbies. Trust only me, newbs. MaguFather handled 10+ min opening. My cue coming up.
Sudden Discord voice from MaguFather.
"So~ today we have a fun guest. Some know, some don't... Anyway, it's Sena. Hi, Sena."
"Oh, hi!"
"Self-intro?"
"Uh, yeah... Old game fan, now JjangJjang in PvP."
Glanced at my notes. Prepared script hard. Use it all.
"Thanks for another great game! Pokedex done, grinding for newbies now."
"Whoa... already? Any hot tips?"
"Spoil on stream, get nerfed? No nerfs?"
"Me? Marketing, dunno."
"Hard to say then... Blame me if nerfed..."
"Nah, show us. Suck honey while you can. Help out."
Desperate MaguFather. But "Reroll" okay to say? I hesitated.
"Uh... Tough, but sending in Discord... check?"
"Huh? Yeah? Send it."
Sent "Reroll" to MaguFather. He chuckled awkwardly.
"Cough... haha. No good. Disaster. Pass. Pass. Anything else? Yep, what you're thinking. But avoid pls."
"Got it. But I didn't. Pure cash grind. Know how much? Dead serious. Love the game, so helping newbies."
Took a breath, continued.
"Think. Newbies quit if annoyed. Games everywhere—why this? See reroll whiners ragequit. Help newbies settle..."
"Whoa~ calm. Calm. Too spicy. That era vibes."
"I... mean more events..."
My motto: More players first. More envy when flexing, bigger ego boost. Especially mid-small spenders.
That's the unbeatable gap superiority. F2P scatter like sardines; mid-spenders love it long-term. F2P don't get the hype, but mid-spenders gauge the scale.
"Ah, good intent. Got it, I'll pass on. What events you like, Sena?"
"Whoa... tons. No cringe. Just daily taps. No weird bingo, quizzes—why? Annoying. It's a potted plant game, why artsy appeals..."
"Agh! Sena-sensei! Too harsh."
"Ah..."
Peeked at chat. Plenty on my side. No controversy.
"Skip for now, other stuff? Gotta. Too harsh. Need to chill."
"Yup..."
Next, weird main story.
"~ Fun story, right? Poured effort in. Insist mention. Thoughts?"
"Uh... um... helps the game?"
Skip main loyalist here, no clue.
"Ob... obviously. Immerses ya. I'm immersed."
"Aha..."
Different strokes. But zero immersion for me. Mobile game immersion? Tap. Grow. Wow strong! Combat power 10 mil? Pfft weak. 20 mil. Move! Argh... cash splash. Wait, you were... no! 100 mil combat. Pew pew pew. That's mobile, right? Tiny screen immersion? Exhausting. Wanted to say, but know better. Ad now. Nice words only.
Who pays for bad press?
"Yes! Can immerse! Watch lots! Views low... Boost views for rewards! 100k reward. 200k. 1 mil! More coming, better rewards! Surely!! Fighting. Wake grandpa grandma mom dad bros sis—watch together! Promise!"
Devs clueless—skimpy rewards on good vids. Would rewatch if generous.
"Hahahaha. That much? Yeah, rewards sting a tad. But buffs coming. Early days, tons to do. They know. Thanks for feedback. Now, ingame?"
"Yes! More to say ingame!"
"Heh... scary."
Then, ingame rant. Ad-safe: Skipped balance, story minimal. 3-star rewards stingy? Only that.
Pulls okay but salty if miss. Mild gripe, passed. All good vibes.
"Thanks. Whew, tough. Final words, Sena?"
"Thanks for invite! Super fun! See you again."
"Same. Looking forward to next."
My first ad: nailed it. Proud of myself. Growing like this. Cool Sena. Hehe.
