Big Server Endgame Tasks (1)
Three days had vanished inside Arena World. The viewers and my angel had showered me with so much gold that every piece of gear came free. I cleared every boss on the circuit—though, yes, I was being carried the whole time. Still, I enjoyed every second. Now it was finally time to return to Minecraft. Once I dive into something, everything else disappears. That’s why I’d abandoned Minecraft for three whole days. Thankfully, today was the day I’d come back.
“You all had fun watching, right? Today we’re doing Minecraft.”
“Wait, what? You guys said it was fun yesterday!” They’d been spamming “kya~” and “this is so good” just the day before. Where did all those compliments go? They only remembered the bad parts! Well… I guess that’s how people are.
“No, really. We’re doing Minecraft today. Have you all been waiting? Ah, how many days are left on the Minecraft server? Does anyone know? I’ll ask slowly. First question: how many days are left on the official Minecraft server?”
“‘You figure it out’… Got it!” I opened Notion and checked. There really was about a week left. On the final day we were supposed to hold a singing contest. The biggest change in the last three days was that wars had become completely voluntary. What used to require an application could now be started by anyone, anytime.
“A singing contest… sounds nice. Wars being voluntary… also nice. Anything else? No reinforcement sales or cheap pet gacha events? That’s a shame.”
I logged into the server anyway. It was packed—150 players even during daytime hours. I hit tab and scanned for familiar names.
“Hmm… Oh! Tteok-nim is on!” Tteok-nim was my angel. Thanks to her, Arena World had been an absolute blast. Every set, every upgrade, every boss—everything had been free. Even when I accidentally bought the wrong item, it didn’t matter. It was all free anyway.
“Tteok-nim… thank you so much. Because of you I had so much fun in Arena World. That’s also why I neglected Minecraft. You really are an angel. I won’t forget it. I’ll keep you in my heart forever. You are my angel.” I poured every bit of sincerity into the whisper.
“Gratitude deserves thanks, right? It’s been three days since I last logged in… I don’t even know what to do now.”
Scattered Minecraft sessions had been no match for the fun of spending money. It couldn’t be helped. It was an irresistible force! Still, I had no idea what to do. Only three days away and I’d completely lost the rhythm.
“Um… First, I’ll offer some prayers…” Nothing was organized. When in doubt, pray. I should pray to Maru-nim too. Oh, is Joseph here? If he is, I want to ask him to build a small cathedral. And now Tteok-nim deserves prayers as well.
“I’ll pray to Maru-nim and to Tteok-nim too!!” I stepped into the cathedral.
Moddeok turned on her stream earlier than usual. Minecraft was simply too fun to resist.
“Seriously, that whisper was way too long.” She smiled at Seon-a’s message, but meeting up right now wasn’t easy. The server was in its final stretch; everyone was preparing for war. The guild had decided to fight at least one battle together, and every member was grinding hard for it.
“Since Seon-a-nim is here, should I give her orders? Hmm…”
“Yeah, I don’t think she’ll do it either. Let’s just do it ourselves.” Moddeok didn’t have high hopes. The best help Seon-a could offer was simply not getting in the way.
Then Moddeok spotted the cuckoo chat. The messages were so absurd that they somehow felt trustworthy.
“Seon-a-nim is building a cathedral next to the angel statue because she turned Tteok-nim into an angel… That’s so ridiculous it has to be real, right?”
“Maybe? I’ll try whispering her first.”
“Ugh… Should I let her finish and then ask for help? The head architect is going to lose his mind… We should probably stop her, right?” Moddeok had planned to leave Seon-a alone, but she remembered Joseph’s pride. He always called the cathedral and its surroundings his masterpiece. Any criticism of the architecture made him speak in that stone-cold voice. So the guild never commented on builds—it was their way of being considerate.
Moddeok called Seon-a on Discord.
“Hello, this is Seon-a.”
“I know. It’s Moddeok.”
“Yes, I knew that too. My angel. My angel Tteok-nim, hello.”
“Pfft—haha, yes!”
“Yeeees. So why did you call?”
“I heard a rumor you’re building a small cathedral.”
A brief silence followed.
“Ah~ right. The baby angels must have told you with those cheeky smiles!! That’s correct…!!”
“You can’t build that.”
“…Huk? Why? My angel?”
“The head architect will be upset.”
“But… why?”
“He doesn’t like people touching his masterpieces. If you need a building, he said to put it somewhere else.”
“Got it. Then I won’t. My angel.”
Seon-a backed down without argument. She would’ve only made an eyesore anyway, so having an excuse to stop was actually a relief.
“Then what should I do? I neglected Minecraft because of Arena World, so I have no idea what’s going on. I’ll participate properly from now on. What should I do, my angel?”
“No, no… please stop calling me that…”
“Why? My angel?”
“Ugh… my arms and legs are curling up from embarrassment.”
“Then… Angel-nim? Mo Angel-nim? Tteok Angel-nim? Moddeok Angel-nim?”
“No… drop the angel part…” Moddeok’s voice was practically dying. She couldn’t handle the shame.
“Hmm… Angels are supposed to be like that. You’re embarrassed so you won’t be an angel? God will scold you. Tteok!!”
“Puhaha—haha!” Moddeok could only laugh in disbelief, desperate to move past the moment.
“Fine. I’ll head over to you. Where are you?”
“At the cathedral. As expected of my angel. I’ll do a reaction for you. One angel reaction, coming right up. What would you like? Ah, I’ll do that one. I saw it on YouTube. I’ll show you the Yoo Seon-a reaction mad movie. Just a second…”
Only rapid keyboard clacks could be heard. Then dramatic background music started. Moddeok listened intently.
“I’m coming. Hoo… here I go? Uwaa!!! Oong?! Oot!!! Hiyat!!! Hmm… got it. Not a power struggle. Hehe. Uwahaha! I’ll communicate. Ask me questions!! I’m really going to try hard!! Watch this. Kyak!! Hup!! Hiyat!! That’s the end of my reaction mad movie. You thought I’d say thank you, right? This isn’t a copy!! Uwahaha. That was the reaction mad movie. Everyone, please clap!!”
Moddeok felt all strength drain from her body. She couldn’t even tell if her laughter was real or hollow. She had no words left.
“How was the reaction I made? Is it lacking because it’s original? Still, it’s my first original one.”
“It’s a reaction humanity isn’t ready to understand yet.”
“Got it…”
“How much is that reaction worth?”
“This one? This is a reaction I only do for people above angel rank.”
“Angel rank… Ah, a reaction just for me?”
“Yep!! So if I do it again it’ll be different. I don’t even remember it myself.”
Moddeok nodded at Seon-a’s words.
“Okay. Then forget about it for now. Anyway, I’m heading to the cathedral. I’ll catch you up on everything that’s happened.”
“Oot!! Understood. I’ll be waiting. My angel… come safely.”
“No… seriously, the angel thing…”
It had already begun. The chat was flooding with “love you” and heart emojis. The kind of atmosphere Moddeok found hardest to handle was creeping in.
“Even my own chat is calling me angel now… What am I supposed to do?!”
“Wow, your viewers are really kind… If this were my stream they’d be saying ‘just play ranked, you’re the god of ranked, you do it, you play, we don’t care, kek, just play it yourself, it looks boring so it must be original.’ But these viewers actually suit an angel!!”
“Then ban them. Moderate the chat.”
“Uh… that’s difficult.”
“Why?”
“My manager doesn’t ban people.”
“What? You do it, Seon-a-nim.”
“I only ban people who do tax evasion. If I ban everyone, we won’t need a manager anymore. I’m holding back for the manager’s sake.”
Moddeok was speechless at the ridiculous logic.
“That reasoning is basically throwing trash on the street for the sake of street cleaners, you know?”
“Oot!! You’ve studied, haven’t you? No, I understood it instantly.”
“Heh-heh-heh. Ah, I’m almost at the cathedral, by the way?”
“Yep!! I’m waiting. Oh! I see you! Over here!!”
