It’s Not About Seeing, It’s About Feeling
A sharp spike in viewers over a short period of time was not a common occurrence.
The reason became clear almost immediately.
“Huh? You really are ChoiPinam?”
“ChoiPinam?”
When Yeongho looked baffled at the chatter piling up in chat and at his daughter’s shocked reaction, more messages immediately flooded in.
The chat was in total chaos.
It seemed that viewers from another stream had joined in, which was probably why there was so much friction.
So he’s the type who streams like Seonhui. Did viewers from his side come watch my daughter with us?
Judging by the atmosphere, he must be famous in this line of work.
Maybe that was why Seonhui herself looked pretty excited.
“Wow! Then I’m on a broadcast? I should brag to my friends!”
Things got noisy for a moment with the arrival of a named streamer, but they couldn’t keep gawking forever if they wanted to keep moving.
Seonhui quickly snapped out of it, came over to Yeongho, hooked her arm through his, and shouted brightly, “All right! Let’s go, Dad! Let’s clear the next chapter fast too!”
“Uh, y-yeah.”
Then, following the game’s preset story, the two of them moved along with the survivors.
Because they had restored the relationship map and nobody had died, the survivor group invited the protagonist to their base, and there he was given a chance to repair his weapons before moving on to the next chapter.
However.
“What? There’s almost nothing I can buy?”
“Everything’s so expensive.”
“Dad, you’re broke too?”
“Mm-hm. This thing called trade points seems to be shared between the two of us.”
Even though this was supposed to be an important event, it didn’t yield much of anything.
They were meant to buy better weapons from the merchant NPC and swap out their gear, but the points reserved for trading were almost completely gone.
Because the two beginners had advanced without properly looting the key areas, they had effectively skipped farming altogether.
And then, amid the chatroom plastered with jokes, a single powerful message appeared.
Two thousand coins! That was two hundred thousand won.
It was the sort of amount that usually came from the missions viewers threw into the pot, yet he’d just tossed it in all at once on his own.
So he really was famous—and apparently, he made a lot of money too.
“Wow! ChoiPinam, thanks for the mission! But what’s a hidden route? How do you even do that?”
Even Yeongho, let alone Seonhui, who still lacked much game experience, didn’t fully understand the mission ChoiPinam had set.
But the viewers quickly filled the chat with explanations, and the two of them were able to piece it together.
“Ah—got it perfectly!”
After hearing the details, it was a little complicated, but the core idea was simple enough.
They had to deal with both the Chapter 2 boss, which was the main quest objective, and the subquest given by the Shelter B Group at the same time.
The subquest required them to kill the leader of the raider faction that was always clashing with this group.
But they couldn’t take him out at the raiders’ base; they had to lure him all the way to the area where the boss spawned.
Either way, what they needed to do was now clearly set, so all that remained was to follow through and clear the mission.
“Should we buy whatever we can for now?”
“Then I already have a gun, so Dad, buy that and use it!”
In the end, they kept their current equipment, and with the little points they had, they bought a pistol and a handful of bullets—nothing more.
People had plenty to say, but there was nothing to be done now except feel disappointed and move on.
After taking the subquest related to the raiders from the NPCs, the two of them headed into the next chapter area to carry out the mission.
* * *
Tat-tat-tat!
Drdrdrdr!
“Kill them!”
“Don’t let them get away!”
Bullets sprayed everywhere, along with shouts laced with curses.
Seonhui, running from the raider pack, gasped for breath and shifted her gaze to the chat window.
“Hhheee, thi—! Haaah! Choiiii—!”
Given that she was just a normal middle school girl, there was no way fleeing from raiders, most of whom were adult men, would be easy.
And it wasn’t just the raiders she had to worry about; she also had zombies closing in from the front.
Of course, the hardest part wasn’t Seonhui’s side at all—it was Yeongho’s.
Tat-tat-tat!
“Ngh!”
Keeping a greater distance behind her so the raiders would focus on him instead of his daughter, he kept running to maintain the proper gap and even fired off suppression shots whenever he could.
And whenever there were too many zombies in the path, he had to sprint ahead and clear them out.
Separate from his combat ability to neutralize enemies cleanly with a single strike, it was brutally exhausting in terms of stamina.
His mouth was dry as dust, but he couldn’t even spare the time to catch his breath.
“Huff! Huuuu!”
