Duo Stream Collaboration (2)
People who had actually played a bit of Battle Island could not make sense of those numbers no matter how hard they tried.
The viewers’ heated reactions gradually cooled after someone posted that in chat.
It was the strategy spectators hated most when they watched games: abandoning loot entirely, carrying nothing but a single sniper rifle, hiding in a safe spot with low risk of being hit, and waiting for prey to wander past.
Once the idea spread that these records had been made by the so-called “camping sniper” strategy, everyone nodded along, and the mood turned sour.
It went without saying that, from the standpoint of people watching, few styles of play were more boring or miserable than that.
It was the kind of thing you didn’t just dislike—you practically had to despise it.
“All right, all right, you guys know my style. I’m gonna show you plenty of cool plays, so keep your eyes peeled.”
Sensing the viewers’ waning excitement, Choi Pinam jumped in with a line to freshen up the atmosphere.
Even he had to admit that, if those absurd numbers were real, they could only have been made by some petty camping-sniper nonsense like that.
Sure, over time those numbers would drop as he kept playing. But in three games, maybe you could still get zero deaths and that kind of ridiculous precision.
Of course, that was not the sort of play you could show on stream.
If they kept duoing like this today, those monstrous numbers would definitely normalize soon enough.
With that thought in mind, the game queue rolled on.
What Choi Pinam and the viewers overlooked, however, was one simple fact.
The kill score: 45.
As a total record, it was a cute little number that proved he was a newbie with only a few matches under his belt.
But given that it was only three games, that meant he had averaged around fifteen kills per match.
That was not a kill count a pure long-term survival sniper—one who hid in place forever and waited for opportunities—could ever produce.
The hidden truth aside, the game had begun.
“Should we go straight for the big city, man to man?”
“Ah, yeah.”
“Krrr, that’s the spirit. Then let’s head to the factory district!”
From the very first match, the two of them dropped into a major loot zone with a high density of rivals and plenty of danger.
Still, since getting swept up in a chaotic early fight and dying instantly would be a disaster, they moved away from the city center and aimed for smaller buildings instead.
“Ah, it’s an S1897. I’m not really into pump shotguns, but hey—this thing is man’s weapon, y’know?”
“A Beretta’s decent early on too. Pretty good mag size for a pistol, and the damage isn’t bad either. Anyway, now that we’ve grabbed everything worth taking, should we meet up with Father Choi?”
The two had split up to loot separate small warehouses, and just as they were about to regroup—
Vroooom—
“Huh? Someone’s already tearing around on a motorcycle.”
Along with the roaring engine, a duo on a two-seater motorcycle came into view from far off, speeding straight toward them.
It was hard to see clearly from this distance, but both riders were already wearing body armor and helmets.
It was impossible to tell their armor level, but the fact that they had fully kitted themselves out this early and even secured a two-seater vehicle meant one thing.
Unless luck was on a truly ridiculous level, it should have been impossible.
“Just by looking at them, they probably started by looting a tiny area just outside the city, got lucky with gear and a vehicle, and then decided to change course for the big city.”
The other side had a luxurious setup from the start, while all they had here was a single weapon each and no armor at all.
Logically, the smart move was to avoid a fight and check another loot zone.
But then—
Reading the chat, Choi Pinam, who had been crouched low and hidden, sprang to his feet.
“If they’re a couple, they should be off somewhere nobody can see, licking each other’s faces—not coming into a game and rubbing it in our faces! Just watch, I’m definitely going to punish them.”
He couldn’t just let them go. That wouldn’t preserve his image at all.
Since it was a 2v2 fight anyway, if he timed it right and sprung a surprise attack, he should be able to create a winning angle even from a disadvantage.
After finishing his calculations, Choi Pinam turned on his voice chat mic.
“Father Choi, are you still inside the warehouse?”
Yes. I’m coming out now. There’s not much worth taking here.
“Don’t come out yet. You see that motorcycle at three o’clock?”
Yes, I see it.
“Stay hidden, and once they’re in range, with me—”
That was as far as he got.
Bang!
Gunfire rang out at almost automatic-rifle speed, and bullets flew from the second-floor warehouse where Yeongho was standing.
“Ah, no. Not now...”
As the flustered Choi Pinam slapped his forehead in despair, the motorcycle racing in from the distance lurched violently, then skidded out from under them and hurled both riders to the ground.
As the viewers wondered in confusion, a line of log text rose in the system message.
SJ DAD -> Kyeongho♡Miyun (near death)
Chills ran down Choi Pinam’s spine before he even had time to cheer along with the ecstatic chat.
When someone falls off a vehicle while it’s moving, they do take fall damage, but not enough to kill them outright.
Seeing the ID appear in the kill log made it certain that the bullets had landed, but—
He definitely fired only two shots.
Even if both had hit and you factored in the fall damage, the firepower was still a little short of putting an enemy into near-death.
And it wasn’t like they had rolled off a cliff; it had been flat ground.
The opponent was wearing a helmet and vest with damage reduction, so two pistol rounds shouldn’t have done much at all.
Near-death meant they had not died instantly, but their health had been completely drained.
Which meant there was really only one conclusion.
Don’t tell me both shots hit vital points?
Only the added damage from headshots or point shots could explain the situation.
But did it even make sense to aim for a vital point on a motorcycle moving at that distance?
With a pistol, of all things—one without even a scope?
Still half frozen in place, Choi Pinam then heard Yeongho’s voice chat.
Uh, did I make a mistake?
“Ah, no. You shot perfectly.”
Yes. One of them is running away, so I’m going to finish them off.
At that, Choi Pinam refocused on the front.
Leaving behind the man who had collapsed and was twitching on the ground, a female player was scrambling upright and running for her life.
Amid the viewers’ delight, gunfire rang out once more.
Bang! Bang!
The opponent went down, struck by two consecutive shots. Then a single follow-up round buried itself in the back of the head, and the enemy fell silent.
SJ DAD -> Miyun♡Kyeongho (death)
SJ DAD -> Kyeongho♡Miyun (death)
With the teammate who could have helped him now dead, the man who had been in near-death state was also marked as dead.
Snapped out of it by someone’s chat, Choi Pinam flung his arms around with exaggerated reaction and dashed forward.
“Gyeeezang~ I knew I could count on you! Father Choi, no—actually, from now on I’ll call you Hyeong-nim!”
Huh? Haha, yes.
“Take your time coming down, Hyeong-nim! Your younger brother here will handle the corpse loot!”
Running toward the bodies, Choi Pinam read the chat and answered with a grin.
“Oh, obviously. Next time I’ll show you a double kill!”
And at the same time, his fingers moved quickly enough to bring up the settings menu and switch his profile record to private.
He had a feeling the viewers would compare their results and roast him mercilessly after the match ended.
That, too, was a decision made with the speed and pride of a man who considered himself to have excellent physical instinct.
