The Devil Doesn't Show Its Tail
The screen flickered once, then froze on a stark white background. My eyes narrowed at the glowing text that had replaced the expected chapter.
I leaned back in my chair, a low chuckle escaping despite the irritation. Of all the times for the platform to throw up a wall, it had to be right when I was about to dive back into that twisted alternate history. The cursor blinked mockingly on the empty loading screen, as if daring me to try refreshing again.
But I knew better. Some gates stay closed for a reason. Maybe the story itself was warning me—reminding me that certain truths, like the ones hidden behind pretty faces and silk robes in that gender-swapped Three Kingdoms hellscape, only reveal themselves when the timing is perfect.
Or maybe it really was just a shitty server error.
Either way, the devil doesn't show its tail. And today, neither would the next chapter.
