How many people actually enjoy their lives? Does landing a job—one that's harder to snag than threading a needle through the eye—really bring happiness?
Like everyone else, I just went with the flow: a decent university in Seoul, honorable discharge after full military service, job prep, and finally employment.
A public institution tucked away in the provinces, a bit removed from the capital area. Better pay than civil servants but no pension; less than at a big corporation, yet with guaranteed employment until age sixty. A perfectly average workplace.
The upside and downside? My job's secure, but so is everyone else's. Still, with no performance pressure, the office vibe is pretty decent.
That said, everything operates strictly within rigid regulations. After about two years on the job, it hits you: there's nothing you can really take charge of on your own. Before long, you end up as one of those lifeless corporate drones shuffling through the days without a shred of motivation.

Until I obtained the Administrator Authority.
