What Does a Troublemaker Live By?
The old saying goes that a single decent-sized mudfish can turn an entire ditch into a muddy mess.
“Y-you crazy bastard! If you touch that, you’re not getting out of here alive either…!!”
“But your entire species will be wiped out, right? That’s more than enough for me to die happy.”
So then, just how big of a mess could a hopeless, yellow-skinned human sprout cause?
In this age that felt like a cheap web novel, where countless worlds had suddenly become connected through Gates.
One human mudfish had begun turning the entire world into his personal ditch, stirring up one massive muddy disaster after another.
The world has changed.
Gates have opened. Monsters pour forth. Humanity must awaken.
Chomok stared blankly at the blue window floating before his eyes.
Even after rubbing his eyes several times, the message refused to disappear. It wasn’t a dream. This was reality.
“What the hell is this…”
He had been on his way home after another exhausting day of part-time work, dodging the neighborhood thugs who always tried to shake him down. The next thing he knew, the sky had split open and monsters came pouring out like a broken faucet.
People screamed. Cars crashed. The world descended into pure chaos in an instant.
And then this window appeared.
Congratulations, Player. You have been selected.
Your unique trait has been awakened.
Trait: Professional Troublemaker
“Professional… Troublemaker?”
Chomok’s face twisted.
Of all the cool, overpowered traits he could have gotten—things like Sword Saint, Archmage, or even something simple like Super Strength—this was what the system gave him?
He wanted to flip a table. No, he wanted to flip the entire damn system.
But before he could even curse properly, the ground shook violently. A massive monster, easily ten meters tall, burst through a nearby building. Its grotesque form looked like someone had stitched together a bear, a crocodile, and pure nightmare fuel.
The creature roared, and people scattered in every direction. Some were crushed under falling debris. Others were snatched up in its claws and torn apart.
Chomok stood frozen in place.
His legs wouldn’t move. His mind went blank. This wasn’t the kind of thing you saw every day. This was the end of the world.
Yet even in that moment of terror, a strange thought crossed his mind.
If I’m going to die anyway… shouldn’t I at least take one of these bastards with me?
The system window flickered again, as if responding to his thought.
Professional Troublemaker — Passive Effect: The bigger the mess you create, the stronger you become.
Current Chaos Level: 0
Would you like to begin your first performance?
Chomok stared at the window for a long moment.
Then, slowly, a grin spread across his face.
It was the kind of smile that would make any sane person take three steps back.
“Hey, you oversized lizard.”
He picked up a broken piece of rebar from the ground. It wasn’t much, but it was something.
“Wanna see something fun?”
The monster turned its massive head toward him. Its yellow eyes narrowed, as if it couldn’t believe a mere human was daring to speak to it.
Chomok took a deep breath.
And then he charged straight at the ten-meter-tall monster, screaming at the top of his lungs.
“COME AT ME, YOU UGLY SON OF A BITCH!”
That was the moment the world’s greatest troublemaker was born.
And that was also the moment the world realized it had made a terrible mistake by giving this particular human a system.
Three years later.
The Korean Peninsula had been reunified. Not by politics or diplomacy, but by sheer necessity. When Gates started popping up everywhere and monsters began pouring out of them like cockroaches, old borders and grudges suddenly seemed very small.
The United States tried to maintain its global hegemony. China tried to swallow everything in sight. The alien races that had crossed over through the highest-grade Gates treated Earth like their new playground.
And in the middle of all that chaos, one man continued to cause trouble on a scale that made world leaders wake up in cold sweats.
His name was Chomok.
Also known as the Human Mudfish.
Also known as the Walking Apocalypse.
Also known as the man who had, single-handedly, caused seventeen international incidents, five species-wide extinctions, and one very confused dragon god who still couldn’t explain how he had ended up owing a human a favor.
Today, he was standing in the middle of the newly rebuilt Seoul Plaza, holding a microphone he had definitely stolen from somewhere.
Behind him, a massive screen displayed a live feed of the Blue House, the Pentagon, and several alien council chambers all at once.
Every important person on the planet was watching.
Chomok grinned that same insane grin from three years ago.
“Hello, world. It’s your favorite troublemaker here.”
He waved cheerfully at the camera.
“Today, I have a very important announcement to make.”
The world leaders watching the broadcast all felt their stomachs drop at the same time.
Whenever Chomok said he had an “important announcement,” it usually meant someone—or several someones—were about to have a very bad day.
“As of this moment,” he continued, still smiling brightly, “I am officially declaring war on the entire concept of ‘common sense.’”
He paused for dramatic effect.
“Also, I may have accidentally pissed off the Demon King of the 9th Realm. He should be arriving in about… three minutes? So if you could all evacuate the area, that’d be great. Thanks!”
The screen cut to a live satellite feed showing a massive crimson portal opening above the East Sea.
A being of pure malevolence began to emerge.
Chomok looked straight into the camera, eyes sparkling with pure mischief.
“Don’t worry. I have a plan.”
He cracked his knuckles.
“It’s a really, really stupid plan. But it’s gonna be legendary.”
Somewhere in the Blue House, the President of reunified Korea slammed his head against his desk repeatedly.
In the Pentagon, several generals were already reaching for the nuclear option.
In the alien council, one particularly ancient dragon was muttering, “That damn human again…”
And in the middle of it all, the man who had started it all simply laughed.
Because this was how Chomok lived.
By turning the entire world into his personal muddy ditch.
And he was just getting started.
