Legal Beatdown
The day of the decisive battle had arrived.
I slipped on the ring and pulled gloves over it.
Knock knock knock.
“Come in.”
Creak. Pat, pat.
The door opened and Winz stepped inside, her face filled with worry as though she were looking at someone already doomed.
“Young lady… are you ready?”
“Yeah. I’m feeling good about this!”
I rose lightly, stretching my body. Winz still gazed down at me with concern.
Was she really that worried? Third-circle wind magic was threatening, sure.
But what matters is the person casting it, not the spell’s raw power.
Even if he was some third-circle prodigy, the opponent was still just a brainless kid.
If he had been a grown adult with any sense, this matchup would have been hell.
“Huhu.”
Winz suddenly smiled, her worry vanishing in an instant.
“What? Why the sudden grin?”
“No reason. You simply look magnificent right now, young lady.”
“All this, just for this?”
“It is the proud, spirited young lady I have always wished to see… Simply watching you fills me with joy. Huhu.”
Winz covered her mouth with one hand and laughed elegantly.
At moments like this, she could easily pass for a noble daughter.
“I like looking at you too, Winz.”
“Oh my, and why is that?”
“You’re pretty. And your figure is exactly my type.”
Winz froze. Her face and ears flushed crimson as she cupped both cheeks with her hands.
“Huu… You must have caught Lady Doree’s habit of teasing.”
“I’m serious. Anyway, let’s go.”
I started toward the training ground, but Winz caught my arm.
“Just a moment! Please take this.”
Jiggle.
She handed me a potion. The moment I accepted it, her expression darkened with guilt.
“I wanted to bring something more useful, but the family stopped me. I’m sorry…”
“Winz believing in me and waiting is already more than enough. Thanks. I’ll win for sure.”
Truthfully, I was confident. Victory chance? One hundred percent. Especially against a brain-dead brat like him.
Thud! Roll, roll.
As I opened the door, something slipped from beneath Winz’s skirt. It was a slightly elongated glass object engraved with my name.
“Huh? What’s this…?”
“Th-this is a glass… cork stopper! Huhu.”
“Why did it fall out of there? And it looks kinda wet. That shape is literally a glass dild—”
“Wuhuhu, come now, let us hurry! Quickly!”
She practically shoved me toward the training ground. I chuckled and shook my head. She really was something else.
“Winz, you’re weird. What are you carrying around?”
“Strictly speaking, it is something I insert and carry.”
“…Why?”
“This way I feel like I am always with you, young lady!”
She must like me a lot to do something like that. Though I wasn’t sure if that kind of affection was entirely healthy. It was a little terrifying, honestly.
No, there’s really no need to be together at all times. Especially not by inserting that thing. Khm.
Whatever. I should just be grateful. A peerless beauty of a maid actually likes me!
“Thanks. Really.”
I lightly rubbed the ring on my finger. The potion vanished.
I had stored it inside the ring’s subspace function.
So that’s how it works. Feels like having an inventory.
Juvenile Law: Legal Beatdown
Objective: Defeat Jerome Devilrenov.
Reward: Random Reinforcement Stone ×2, All Stats +10
Failure: Forced G-cup breast size
A quest window popped up. So this is how urgent quests work?
Still, forced G-cup? On my current body that would be completely unbalanced. I wouldn’t even be able to move!
I’m definitely winning. No other option.
We arrived at the training ground. Along the way, servants and family retainers had been busy sneering.
“Off to get publicly humiliated, huh.”
“Poor Alonzo. He picked the wrong person to serve and ended up dead because of it.”
“If I were her I’d have bitten my tongue and died already. Is that even a noble? Pathetic.”
“If she lasts even one second I’ll cut off my third ball, for real.”
I strode onto the training ground with my head held high. Their reactions were exactly what I had expected.
Their mockery? I’ll turn it into cheers.
Jerome was already waiting on the opposite side. The vast rectangular arena, built of marble, radiated both sturdiness and elegance. Pillars carved with the faces of past family heads stood at each corner—every one of them a figure whose name shone in history.
“Didn’t run away, you worthless bitch? I’ll give you that. Want me to call you my future slave?”
“As if. Why would I run from a chance to legally fuck you up? You whore’s spawn.”
I shot back. From the side, Miranda suddenly screamed at the top of her lungs.
“That arena is going to be your grave! You’ll be begging me on your knees when this is over!”
I turned my head and sneered at her. Me, begging?
“I’ll make you beg instead, grandma. I’ll add a few more wrinkles to that face you’re hiding! So keep counting on your fingers while you still can.”
“Y-you…!”
I left the trembling Miranda behind and scanned the spectators. The current head of the house—my father—was there too. A middle-aged man with slightly curly, dull golden hair and crimson eyes. He rested a hand on his pale cheek, watching me with open disdain.
His expectations for me had long since died. I would make that cold heart burn again.
“Have you both chosen your weapons? Then let the duel begin!”
Jerome held a short staff studded with all kinds of jewels. I, on the other hand, had been given no weapon at all. The old family official stepped back, and the match began.
Jerome sneered.
“You can still run if you want. I’ll allow it.”
“I’m not running.”
“Why?”
“I’ve run plenty until now. From here on, I’m going to live with my head held high. I could do this all day.”
Jerome shrugged as if it were ridiculous.
“I might actually kill you, you know.”
“Do whatever you want. What I need to show and prove to everyone here is myself!”
I moved first, steadying my breath as I glared at him.
Tatatatatat!
I kicked off the ground. A grand melody echoed in my ears, just like a certain game series.
I exhaled lightly and clenched my fists. A close-range fighter facing a ranged mage was objectively difficult. The reach difference, the unique nature of magic that pure swordsmanship or hand-to-hand combat couldn’t overcome.
Even so, I threw my punch.
“Slow.”
Jerome sidestepped and thrust his staff forward.
[Wind Blade]
A first-circle wind-attribute attack spell.
Whirrr, crack!
I dodged the blade-shaped wind and closed the distance.
“You’re trying to fight magic with just hand-to-hand? Are you really that stupid…!”
My fist cut through empty air again. Jerome retreated and fired Wind Blades in rapid succession. I rode the rhythm, dodging while charging forward.
First-circle spells are dodgeable. The problem is…
[Attached Whirlwind]
A second-circle attack spell. Jerome created whirlwinds to keep me from closing in. Three massive whirlwinds grew between us.
He maintained them calmly. It must have required considerable focus.
If this keeps up, I’ll get caught in them…!
I watched for an opening and fell back. Even so, shallow cuts appeared all over my body.
The advantage of wind magic is that it deals damage just by being near it. My body’s already starting to tremble.
Like a human facing a great disaster, my body was slowly being consumed by instinctive fear.
I clenched my fists and steadied my breathing.
“Got you. Once a failure, always a failure!”
Jerome laughed coldly and sprayed Wind Blades. It was a threatening attack while I was still recovering from avoiding the whirlwinds.
Whirrr, whoosh!
[Origin Divine Art – Parin]
I thrust my gloved fist forward, deflecting and redirecting every incoming Wind Blade. The strength of Origin Divine Art – Parin was that its parrying range wasn’t limited to normal attacks. If I could sense the magic, I could parry it too.
Of course, the power itself had to be within my limits.
I charged forward calmly, closing the gap. The Attached Whirlwinds multiplied, forming a literal wall of wind.
[Origin Divine Art – Shunpo]
Shff, whoosh!
I spread an indescribable energy thinly around my entire body and instantly appeared behind Jerome. Shunpo was the ultimate movement technique of Origin Divine Art.
“Where—!”
[Wind Armor]
Whoooo, clang!
Jerome cast a defensive spell to block my ambush, but my high kick still tore through part of the Wind Armor and landed cleanly.
Smack!
Blood streamed from the back of his head. Jerome trembled violently. The face that had been so full of leisure twisted with rage and madness.
“How dare you… a worthless failure like you…!”
“Who’s the one who just got hit in the back of the head by that failure?”
“Hit my ass! You crazy bitch! Do you even know who I am? I’m Jerome Devilrenov, the genius of the Devilrenov family! Aaaaaagh!”
Jerome suddenly exploded into a rampage. As expected, even a third-circle prodigy was still just a kid.
Whooooosh! Bang bang bang!
The mana surrounding Jerome instantly transformed into a massive whirlwind, beginning to affect the surroundings like a typhoon. A disaster had appeared.
The family retainers cried out in shock.
“He’s gone insane! Is that a disaster!?”
“Everyone fall back! You’ll get caught in it…!”
“But the main mansion…!”
“The building’s shaking! The training ground is going to be destroyed!”
I ignored the panicking people and stared at Jerome. His eyes had rolled back, and he was violently manipulating his mana.
“Die.”
[Embrace of the Wind Demon]
A third-circle spell. Just as I had expected.
Jerome ground his teeth.
“I’ll make sure you can’t escape. I’ll drag you into this and kill you. Die, you crazy bitch!”
The massive whirlwind expanded rapidly, shaking the main mansion as it tried to swallow me whole.
Shff!
I summoned the potion from the ring and drank it. All the minor wounds I had received healed instantly. I felt a surge of strength.
Good thing I hadn’t taken a direct hit.
“The advantage hand-to-hand has over magic. No wind-up time.”
He was still gathering mana, yet the area around him was already being affected at a disaster level. Ironically, this was my chance. He still had plenty of openings.
Taah!
I launched myself like the wind.
Energy coiled around me.
Shff, shff!
Shunpo let me instantly take his back. It was an incredibly powerful movement technique, but it strained the body in proportion to its use.
Even now, my body was being grazed by wind magic. My muscles trembled, my bones creaked dangerously. My pupils shook, and instinctive fear of death made my breathing ragged.
“Young lady! Go! Seize what you desire!”
Winz clasped her hands together and cheered for me. The sight of her praying for me was like a saint from a story.
On the opposite side, my father and the other retainers still watched with disbelief.
Taah, taah, tatatatat!
Even so, I ran. I pushed my body beyond its limits, offering it as sacrifice. That was the very motto of Origin Divine Art—consume everything I had, burn it, pay the price, and bring about the result I wanted.
I brushed against the whirlwind Jerome was emitting. My skin tore. Blood sprayed. Yet I smiled.
Because this was the moment I would show and prove it. That I had the right to live in this world. That I was a human being.
[Origin Divine Art – Shunpo]
I took Jerome’s back.
Energy wrapped around my entire body as I unleashed a furious barrage!
[Origin Divine Art – Torrent Palm]
Huuu, bang bang bang bang!
I threw my fists with only one thought: break him. I felt the solid impact through my shins. Jerome’s entire body was breaking in real time.
At the same time, so was mine. Even so, I was still hungry for more.
Crack! Pop!
A critical hit triggered, and the gloves caused a stun effect.
“Not yet. I’m going to turn you into a complete idiot!”
[Origin Divine Art – Ascending Heaven]
I launched him upward and followed, dancing through the air.
I wouldn’t be satisfied until he was at least half-witted.
Smack! Bang bang bang!
I activated Torrent Palm again and rained blows on Jerome like a madwoman.
This was the last of it.
“Muda muda muda muda muda!”
Then I landed.
I swung my fist toward Jerome’s neck as he staggered.
This was enough.
“Legal punch!”
“Guh…!”
Acquired 5000 Slayer Points (SP)!
Jerome collapsed and rolled across the ground. Everyone watching stared with their mouths agape. The atmosphere was deathly silent, like a library.
Honestly? I liked it this way.
