Hiring an Editor (1)
I got into a war of nerves with the Jireongis who were trying to send me off.
"Bye bye bye"
"Snake-baa"
"Take care"
"See you tomorrow!"
Even as they said that, the viewer count didn't drop. I knew they just wanted to see me flustered and stuttering, so I sniffled and spoke up.
"…U-um, i-if you’re really sulking and leaving… don’t say anything… I kinda, feel like turning it off now."
The chat begged for forgiveness. The war of nerves ended more easily than expected, but I just felt proud.
I won.
A true pro who casually snatched victory in the WWE match against the Jireongis. Feeling a little better, I cleared my throat with a small smile.
"Ahem… Then I’ll go write a recruitment notice on the fan cafe first……"
You look good when you cry too, I think—
Ugh…!?
The Jireongis said they felt good when I smiled. My face flushed bright red and I quickly opened the cafe to write the notice.
"Th-this is my second notice…!"
Positive reactions flooded the chat. Feeling calmer as I looked at them, I took a deep breath and moved my heavy fingers across the keyboard.
"Hel…lo……"
"…I’m really serious about growing the channel, so… I-I’ll take the interview seriously too."
I still didn’t know much, so I planned to receive editing samples first and ask Haram and Yeon-a for advice before hiring anyone.
Seeing how much they expected from me made me happy, but also piled on a bit of pressure. Still, I had to do my best.
"…Please send your applications to this email… Thank you……"
After typing the period, I uploaded the notice.
It was time to say goodbye for real. Waving at everyone while reading the piled-up donations one by one, I told the reluctant viewers I’d see them tomorrow.
"S-see you tomorrow…! I don’t have any specific content planned… I’ll probably just do whatever I feel like… Maybe ASMR if the mic arrives…?"
"Th-thank you… It won’t be spicy… I’ll probably just fiddle with random stuff… I was gonna buy the mic at the department store today, but Mom couldn’t find it."
Smiling softly, I turned on my phone and added the ASMR mic Haram mentioned to my cart.
"I’m looking into it… I think I’ll be able to do ASMR in a stream soon…!"
"Probably not… Ugh… I’m tired, I’m really gonna go……"
Even after ending the stream, chat messages kept popping up for another thirty seconds. I watched them with a warm expression before standing up and diving onto my bed.
"Haa… I’m tired……"
It had been a day full of events—enough to make that complaint slip out naturally.
The karaoke room was dark, the mirror ball spinning wildly. Inside, Yuna was watching Snake’s stream live.
She’s hiring an editor…?
The news of an editor recruitment was definitely tempting for pro kirinuki editor Yuna.
"Yuna, aren’t you gonna sing?"
"…Suji… I think the opportunity of a lifetime just came my way."
"What?"
"We’re seniors in high school. Is it really okay for us to be doing this?"
"You said you gave up on the CSAT."
Her friend looked down at her with a puzzled expression. An inexplicable aura radiated from Yuna.
"I think I found what I need to do."
"…What?"
"I can’t be wasting time here. I need to write a resume."
With that, Yuna shot up from her seat, snorting. Her friend grabbed her with an incredulous look.
"You said you wanted to play…!! We still have an hour left…! You can’t leave."
"Sorry… Suji, there are plenty of other people."
"They’re all regular admission applicants!!"
Her friend begged her not to go. But Yuna had already made up her mind.
Three hours… it’s my money…
"Sorry… enjoy my share too."
As Yuna turned away, her friend collapsed to her knees with a hollow expression.
"You… jerk……"
"Go sing the trigonometric functions song……"
"Nooooooo!!"
Her friend’s scream into the mic echoed as Yuna, tears in her eyes, ran all the way home like a tragic heroine.
In the elevator heading home, Yuna chuckled and turned off her phone, placing a hand over her pounding left chest.
Maybe it’s just from running, but it’s racing…
Snake’s editor. If she could do that, she could apologize for her past rudeness and maybe get closer—work together, talk on the phone, even eat together.
"I’m confident in editing… I already gave up on the CSAT, and I’ll be an adult soon, so maybe she’ll hire me."
Above all, Yuna already ran the kirinuki channel under the name Gaemanyeo, which had quite a reputation. She could proudly say her editing skills weren’t bad.
"Given Snake’s personality, she probably prefers people she’s talked to before……"
Murmuring that with a soft smile, Yuna turned on her computer the moment she got home and went straight to the cafe notice.
Hello, this is vam. This notice is about hiring editors. I’m planning to start on YouTube, but since I’m still lacking, I’d like to hire someone skilled. I’ve listed some notes for the resume below.
*Age: 18+
*Gender: Any, though male applicants who’ve completed military service are preferred (since we’ll be working long-term)
*Experience: 1+ year preferred
*Portfolio: Bonus if available
The interview will involve editing one of the horror game VODs listed below. I’ve also included the application email!
Yuna’s idol had made an adorably clumsy mistake.
"…I want to get scolded."
Yuna muttered that and smiled brightly while waiting for the post to be edited with the VOD and email restored. Soon enough, the video and email appeared. She quickly downloaded the video, put on her glasses, tied her hair into a ponytail, and stretched with her fingers interlocked.
"Alright…! Let’s do this!"
The high school senior took her first step toward her dream.
