Building a House (3)
After learning how to equip the skin, I reconnected to the server.
"I-I'm so excited...!"
Clutching my pounding chest, I glanced at the chat window. The Jireongis seemed to share the same thought, their excitement surging as they flooded the chat with messages.
The sight of them waiting like innocent children brought a smile to my face.
'Minecraft… is actually fun.'
I hadn't really started anything yet. I hadn't built a house or even mined any wood, but it still felt good. I was just grateful I could laugh and chat with people.
'Maybe if I don't have any content planned, I could just do some mindless survival…'
People would probably enjoy that too. The thought crossed my mind as I stared blankly at the loading screen, waiting for the square to fill up.
"…Spin spin spin spin."
The white line spun around, steadily filling the square. Without realizing it, I started murmuring along with it. The Jireongis noticed and began copying me in chat.
The Jireongis called me cute and funny, but from my perspective, they were the ones who looked even cuter and funnier as they chatted away.
"Y-You guys are cuter… I just said it without thinking, and you're all copying me… Heheh, so cute."
"Y-Yes, I love you…."
After replying to the "I love you" messages, I smiled faintly and looked at the screen as the loading finished.
Welcome
Along with the welcoming message, a vast square world unfolded before me. And right there, greeting me, was my square-shaped mom.
"R-Really? How do I see it?"
Haram immediately called it pretty the moment she saw me. Eager to check it out myself, I quickly asked her how to view my own appearance.
"Ah… Th-Thank you…!"
After thanking her, I hurriedly pressed the key. The default skin I'd had just moments ago had completely transformed into an avatar-like appearance. It looked prettier and cuter than I'd expected. The two snakes symbolizing Jiwoo and Minu were perfectly represented, and I couldn't help but admire it.
"W-Wow… Thank you."
"Huh…? Oh, um… I'm going to build a house."
Haram asked what I was going to do next. Tilting my head slightly, I answered right away. It was time to build a house. Most people would probably start by mining first, but since I already had plenty of resources and a miner on hand, I wanted to take it slow and enjoy the start.
Haram spoke in the gentlest tone possible. But I didn't want her help. I wanted to enjoy this slowly, at my own pace, by myself. So I told her it was okay.
"I-It's fine… I can do it alone… I-I'm a 'no backseat gaming' ban, after all."
After blurting out that single word, Haram froze in place. She looked like she'd taken a massive shock. Even while panicking, I couldn't afford to miss out on such a prime piece of land, so I quickly moved my feet.
"I-I'm sorry… I'll apologize later… I-I need to find a house with a mountain behind it and water in front…"
"I-I do believe it."
It was a lie. I didn't actually believe in feng shui. But if I didn't say something like that, she really would get hurt, so I kept my words to a minimum.
After parting ways with Haram, I walked to a suitably quiet area and found a nice riverside spot.
"Oh… Th-This place… looks good."
It was right next to the river, and not far from the flat land there were trees. Plus, there weren't many people around, which was perfect for someone as shy as me.
"No people either… Heheh, I like it… N-No chance of getting startled or anything……."
The Jireongis accepted my philosophy that there shouldn't be any people around. But some of them were worried about me joining a social server and then doing nothing.
A donation flew in on behalf of the worried Jireongis. While converting the wooden logs I'd received from Mr. K into plank blocks, I replied.
"Uh… You don't have to worry about that… I-I also want to… make friends."
When I said I wanted to make friends, the Jireongis exploded with reactions. Eyes wide, I scratched my head awkwardly and asked them not to do that.
"D-Don't do that… I just want to make friends normally… B-Being alone is lonely, after all……."
Ever since my past life, I'd been terrified of people and never formed deep relationships. Especially during my school years, the constant bullying and harassment had been incredibly painful. "Friends" had always been a distant, unreachable word—nothing more, nothing less.
In this life, there was only one person I'd truly connected with deeply. Yeon-a. Thanks to Yeon-a, I learned what friends were. And I painfully realized how lonely it was without them.
That's why I wanted to make friends. Friends who could help me a lot.
"…I-I want to become friends with people who can help me a lot… O-Of course, it has to be mutually beneficial."
After saying that, I turned the screen to show the residential area right behind the river.
"People are surprisingly close by… Once the second-generation residents start moving in, this place will probably fill up too."
It was unfortunate news, but from my perspective of wanting to make friends, it wasn't something I could really complain about.
Hearing the hopeful news, they looked forward to me making new friends soon. Thinking it was actually a good thing, I smiled brightly. And after keeping only 32 logs, I successfully converted the rest into planks.
"So many planks……."
Murmuring that, I checked the planks in my inventory.
"I'm a beginner anyway… This should be enough to build a house… What about windows… S-Should I just leave them open?"
The mischievous Jireongis tried to get the helpful one banned. Slightly flustered, I assured them I wouldn't ban someone for something like this and expressed my gratitude.
"I-I won't ban for this… I asked how to do it in the first place… The ones who give advice without being asked… those are the ones who get banned."
After all, it was my stream, so I set the rules. When I said that with that mindset, they nodded in understanding.
Smiling faintly, I asked how to make a furnace as well, then immediately started digging into the ground.
"In the end, it starts with mining……."
Wanting to finish the interior of the house soon after mining, I quickly started gathering coal and stone.
"Coal and stone… coal and stone……."
The fact that I'd also need to gather plenty of sand afterward made me feel overwhelmed.
