Minecraft Experience (2)
After Yeon-a disappeared, I immediately started looking around and began my proper exploration. "Crafting… I guess you just do it yourself? I suppose I need to make a crafting table or something…."
I opened the guidebook and started learning one by one what was in the village and what the basic Minecraft recipes were. During that process, people began talking to me, but I instinctively hunched my shoulders and could only run away.
"S-sorryyyyyy…!!!"
The Jireongi watched my pitiful state and commented that I was cute or funny. I felt a little annoyed at them, but soon brushed it off and looked at the old-fashioned building in front of me. Decorated with white and blue blocks, bathed in a sacred, bright light. Anyone could tell it was a church or cathedral, and I immediately knew this was the building that handled job changes.
"E-everyone else must have already finished their job change, so I don't see anyone here."
While wandering around, I'd heard rumors that there would be a second job change, but since everyone was still at their first job, it made sense there was nothing for me at the church. A job was essential for proper gameplay.
'I need a job too……'
Excited at the thought of finally playing the game for real, I smiled brightly and ran into the church.
"L-let's go…!"
They argued sharply about my job choice. Everyone tried to persuade me about which job would be best. Of course, I had no intention of listening. I already had a job in mind.
Exactly, swordsman. This server was clearly an RPG. I hadn't played many, or rather, I hadn't played any, but still.
'Fighting sounds fun.'
Using my body to fight directly seemed enjoyable. Something too boring didn't suit me. Even though manual labor was tough, it had its own kind of fun. Like puffing myself up to keep stray cats off the concrete, or helping the uncles carry bricks. Even the uncles who were scared of me but still looked out for me in their own way. Doing something as a team felt really rewarding.
'…If I pick swordsman, I'll do lots of raids, so I'll probably make lots of friends by force……'
And more than anything, choosing swordsman and running many raids seemed like the best way to meet people. I'm a bit passive… honestly, very passive, so unless forced like this, I probably wouldn't meet anyone. I wanted to make lots of friends and become normal.
"I really want to make tons of friends."
Saying that, I slowly looked around the inside of the church. Mosaic windows everywhere, and what looked like a depiction of a god with enormous wings and a golden laurel wreath. The absence of any human figures somehow made the church feel more atmospheric.
"I didn't know Minecraft was a game like this… it's really pretty."
Letting out sounds of admiration, I kept moving forward until I saw an altar bathed in light. And floating above it, a book.
Right-click to interact.
"Y-yep… I'll press it."
When I clicked the mouse, a job signature window appeared. A book already filled with many people's signatures. I examined each one, roughly checking the job distribution.
'The job numbers are pretty balanced.'
Miners were slightly overrepresented, but overall everyone was similar. Of course, that wasn't my concern. My interest was solely in swordsman. Archer would've been good for raids too, but…
'I'm not confident with FPS……'
I wasn't very good at FPS games. I hadn't played them much either.
'And I don't plan to in the future. There were some famous people… Yeowu, I think.'
Thinking that, I glanced at the chat window. The Jireongi were each pushing their own opinions about which job I should pick.
After enjoying their reactions a bit more, I chuckled and wrote my name on the swordsman page. The chat instantly filled with despair and cheers. The joy and sorrow of those who supported swordsman and those who rooted for other jobs crossed paths.
Leaving the Jireongi behind, I looked back at the Minecraft screen and smiled brightly.
Congratulations! You have completed your first job change!
Your job is now 'Swordsman'.
Words filling the screen congratulating me. Smiling faintly, I brought my mouth to the mic and continued timidly.
"Y-yahoo… I'm a swordsman."
People who had expectations of me. Those expectations felt a bit burdensome, but right now they were buried under dopamine.
"Th-then shall we go look for a house plot now."
"I-if you donate, is there something that happens?"
When I mentioned building a house, they suddenly started talking about what they'd do to me with donations. Wondering if donations could do something, I asked, and the Jireongi slowly answered.
They could bully me with money…… The thought that they could literally "money-bully" me made me swallow nervously.
'Goodness… getting scolded with money, what a scary experience.'
By the way, I knew there were exploding monsters in Minecraft too.
"Th-then, do all the monsters appear?"
If exploding monsters appeared, not only would I die, but the house I was building would get destroyed too, so when I asked, they nodded.
"Ah… I-I see… C-can we not have that?"
Just in case, I asked while glancing around nervously and fidgeting. I didn't want to experience my efforts being denied again. The chat seemed to soften.
Instead of going easy, they asked for another merit besides the house not collapsing. I thought they could just not donate, but this seemed to be part of the fun, so I reluctantly opened the notepad and typed with my fern-like hands.
In exchange for no mobs spawning, one aegyo performance
They took my half-joking remark seriously.
"Huh…? I-is this really okay? M-me doing aegyo… is that okay…?"
The viewers tried to deceive me with obvious lies while I was feeling down. Caught off guard into accepting the penalty, I blushed slightly.
