Don't Worry, Everyone! The Entat Parish Is Safe! (Complete)
Any world where people gather and form a society will inevitably develop its own unique characteristics. This other-dimensional world is no different. It has its own distinct flavor, and as someone who reincarnated here with memories from my previous life, I can say that with absolute certainty.
The biggest characteristic? Gods actually exist in this world. Even if they didn't, every single person living here believes they do. And honestly, with so much evidence proving their existence, there's almost no room for doubt. The divine power I use is one such piece of evidence, and the fact that countless Heroes have been summoned from other worlds—enough for the locals to know other dimensions exist—only adds to it. After all, only a god could pull someone's body and memories from another world.
It's gotten to the point where people treat the words of Heroes and Saintesses as if they were the words of the gods themselves. So it's no exaggeration to say that the history of this world has been written by Heroes. Their advanced knowledge in economics, politics, technology, culture, and more was more than enough to change the world.
Naturally, Heroes came to be revered almost as much as the gods, and their words were considered absolute. The absurdity that all Saintesses and Saintess candidates must memorize the prayer left behind by the very first Hero still persists to this day. When you consider that the first Hero lived thousands of years ago, you can imagine just how sacred they've become.
The Alchemy Hero took advantage of that very reverence when creating his contingency measures. Knowing that anything made by a Hero would never have its name changed, he deliberately gave the magical tools names that differed from his past-life knowledge. Only those qualified to be Heroes—meaning people with memories from their past lives or those summoned from other worlds—could answer correctly. Those names became the security codes for his safety devices.
“Master, were you a Hero candidate rather than a Saintess candidate?”
So it was only natural for Skadi, who had once been part of a Hero's party four hundred years ago, to suspect me.
“I'm not doing either. And don't go around telling people I'm a reincarnator, Skadi.”
Damn it. I'd hidden it so well until now, only to get caught in such a stupid way.
“Ah… So it's a secret just between the two of us♡ Understood, Master!”
…Should I just spill it to everyone around us?
The way Skadi was twisting her body while saying that made me genuinely not want to hide the fact that I was a reincarnator anymore.
“This is all your fault!”
Thwack!
“Ouch! Don't hit me on the head from above! It hurts!”
It's because of you, Behemoth, that I got found out! You should be grateful I didn't hit you harder. I swear I'll rip your ears off.
“You've been using casual speech with me nonstop lately? Maybe I need to remind your body exactly who your master is?”
“…Yes.”
“Why aren't you running faster? At this rate we'll arrive at the Entat Parish in the middle of the night!”
Thud thud thud thud!!
Hmm! The speed is nice, and the ride isn't bad either. Changing the command authority to me instead of just altering the orders was definitely the right call.
After erasing what was presumably the Fallen Hero's command and reprogramming Behemoth to obey only me, I set off for the Entat Parish with the beast in tow to explain the situation to everyone there.
But since Behemoth couldn't keep up with my speed, we decided Skadi and I would ride on its back instead. It turned out to be a surprisingly good choice. If it weren't for the fact that it's a monster and needs to control the magical beasts in the Land of Magical Beasts, I'd want to keep it as a permanent mode of transportation.
Its horns are so thick and large that I don't even need a saddle, and I can control the speed with my feet. It's incredibly convenient.
Thwack!
“Why again…! I mean, why, Master?”
“Faster. And when we arrive at the Entat Parish, I want you to bow your head and apologize first.”
“…Understood.”
The speed increased noticeably. Sigh… It's such a shame. I don't think there's any transportation better than Behemoth. Magical carriages are ridiculously expensive and their maintenance costs are no joke, so it's hard to get one.
“Hmm… At this speed, we should arrive in about an hour. I wonder if the knight uncles will be very surprised?”
“I think they'll be praising you instead, Master.”
I hate that I can't refute that. I still don't understand why everyone is so obsessed with me. Is it because I'm cute? I could accept that. If it's like having an uncle who's a fan of his niece, I can understand it too. To think their fan hearts haven't changed despite me putting them through hellish training every single day—those uncles really have some serious dedication.
They wouldn't go as crazy as Skadi, right? Like, “Oh, I like it even more. This is a reward for me.” Even if they're insane, they can't be that far gone.
“By the way, Skadi. You said you were part of the Alchemy Hero's party, right?”
“Yes.”
“Then, does the Alchemy Hero have some kind of foresight? Do you know anything about ‘that guy’?”
“The Alchemy Hero is the Hero of Alchemy. If he could make prophecies, he would have been called the Hero of Prophecy or something similar.”
So the Alchemy Hero couldn't see the future. Well, I'd already guessed as much. I never really thought he had foresight either. It was ‘that guy’ who seemed suspicious.
“I suspect he received the prophecy after the party disbanded. For example, perhaps ‘that guy’ was a prophet.”
“You think so too?”
“Well, there have been real prophets throughout history. I just never encountered one during my time in the Hero's party.”
Then there's nothing we can do about it. Maybe opening the safety devices for the other monsters the Alchemy Hero created will give us more clues? Once my runaway plan succeeds and I save up some money, it wouldn't be a bad idea to go look for them. Since Skadi knows what the monsters are and where they are, finding them shouldn't be too difficult.
“Master, Master.”
I was planning our next moves when Skadi gently tugged at my sleeve.
“What?”
“Please say to me what you said to Behemoth earlier.”
“You mean the part about apologizing first? Did you do something to the people of the Entat Parish without me knowing?”
“No, the part before that.”
The part before that? It probably wasn't the “go faster” bit… Ah. No way.
“You mean when I said, ‘Maybe I need to remind your body exactly who your master is?’”
“Yes! Yes! That one! That! And if possible, please do it while looking down at me and grabbing my chin firmly!”
“…”
Just what is Skadi's head made of?
“L-Levia?! What in the world is that monster?!”
When we arrived at the main gate of the Entat Parish, we were greeted by the Holy Front knights with their swords drawn and Grandfather Carlo. It seemed they'd all rushed out because they sensed a dangerous monster approaching. Technically it was a magical creature, not a monster, but whatever.
“Kuhahaha! You said you liked elephants so much, and you really brought one!”
Grandfather, that's not it. I don't like elephants. I can't say it out loud, but that's a misunderstanding. Please realize it someday.
“Bout. Did the entire Holy Front knight order come out?”
“Everyone except for a few. Just what is this terrifying monster?”
Seeing all the Holy Front knights so tense, it seemed Behemoth really was that strong. Now, how should I introduce it…
“My pet?”
“What?! What are you saying? Did you actually tame a magical beast?!”
“Ugh, no! It's not a magical beast, it's a magical creature.”
I lightly jumped down from atop Behemoth's head and corrected Bout's misunderstanding. Skadi had promised to meet me again in two days at Mount Rockmihorn and left. Having ultimately gotten exactly what she wanted, of course.
Remind her body who her master is? As if. I feel like erasing the entire memory of that moment.
“A magical creature, you say?”
“Yeah. Hey, I told you to bow your head the moment I arrived. What are you waiting for?”
“Yes ma'am.”
“A magical creature that can speak human language?”
“Just where did you find such a thing?”
“Was it on Mount Rockmihorn?”
My original plan had been to gather all the Holy Front knights at the training ground and make a grand announcement. Don't worry, everyone! The Entat Parish is safe! Something like that. I hadn't thought it through. I'd overlooked the fact that the Holy Front wouldn't just sit still if the king of magical beasts approached.
Well, in the end, they're all gathered here anyway, so it doesn't matter. I'll just make the announcement right here.
Rejoice! I've brought peace to the Entat Parish! Your suffering is finally over!
“Uncles! You can relax now! The Entat Parish is safe!”
“What exactly do you mean by that, Lady Levia?”
Oh dear. To think the captain could be this slow on the uptake.
“Peace is finally coming to the Entat Parish!”
It's supposed to be my parting gift before I leave the Entat Parish. I'm disappointed in you, Bout.
“…Levia. I hope I'm wrong, but this magical creature… it isn't what this old man is thinking, is it? Please tell me it isn't.”
See? Grandfather's quick on the uptake.
“It's exactly what you're thinking. Let me introduce you. Starting today, this is my pet—no, my pet magical creature, Behemoth! The king of all magical beasts!”
“…”
“…”
“…”
Huh…? Why doesn't anyone look happy? I thought they'd cheer.
“Huh? Why are you all like this? Aren't you happy? I said peace has come to the Entat Parish!”
“…Lady Levia.”
The long silence that had settled over the main gate was finally broken by Bout.
“Did you tame the king of magical beasts… for our sake?”
“That's right! This guy only listens to my commands now! From now on, it'll prevent any magical beasts from invading the Entat Parish!”
“I see… Thank you.”
What is this? The atmosphere feels weird. It's super suspicious… extremely suspicious!
“Holy Front Knights. All members.”
“Bout? What's wrong?”
“Prevent the escape of Saintess candidate Levia Leviathan.”
“…?!”
My runaway plan has been exposed?!
