Chapter 59: Jackpot
"No way, this old geezer really..."
A car key sat there alongside a single copy of the contract.
"Fuck, I don't even have a license yet—what the hell is he playing at, making me press this?"
It looked like a foreign luxury car key no matter how I squinted at it. Could it really be that car from yesterday he'd given me...? I checked the contract, and sure enough, the date was yesterday.
After everything went down yesterday, he'd signed the contract right away, apparently.
"But hold up—don't foreign cars usually take months to get after you buy one? How'd I get the key first?"
I headed down to the parking lot just in case, and there it was—a ridiculously shiny luxury foreign car parked there, waiting.
"No friggin' way. Nah, couldn't be."
I pressed the unlock button on the key fob. Beep-beep! The headlights flashed with a clear chime.
"What the—no way he got me a luxury foreign car in just one day..."
The rich really do have different supply chains, huh? When Mom and Dad bought their car, it took months. But this? Beep-beep!
"No, no way."
I pressed it again, and the headlights flashed once more. Could someone without a license really buy a car months in advance like this?
I opened the door and peeked inside. It was pure luxury. The seats looked plusher than the bed back at my place...
"Maybe I should just crash here from now on...? Nah, fuck that. No matter how I slice it, I gotta give this back. What the hell was I thinking?"
I didn't have a license anyway, and I wasn't planning on getting one anytime soon. Plus, with a few more lottery wins, I could snag something like this myself through whatever channels!
Ahem... honestly, it'd be a lie to say I wasn't tempted by this shiny beast.
"The old man's gotta be out of his mind."
I opened the envelope on the front passenger seat. Inside was a letter.
It's a gift because it suits your taste. It has nothing to do with whether you accept or not. So please take it without any burden.
"This thing costs a fortune—how could I not feel burdened? But if I try to give it back, I don't even have his contact info. I know where he lives, but I can't exactly drive it over there myself. If he doesn't reach out, I'm screwed."
"Haa... fuck. Guess I need to get my license first?"
It felt all sticky and off. He said not to feel burdened, but after hearing that crap yesterday, how could I not? I'm not usually the type to stand on ceremony like that, but I didn't want to get tangled up with him. That tone of his, like he was lording over his underlings, the way he'd reigned from the top for so long...
"Fuck that. Who the hell's above me? The only thing above me is God!"
Whatever. For now, since I couldn't return it, I'd just leave it be. I sprawled out in the spacious back seat, pulled out my phone, and checked the lottery numbers.
It was given to me to use, after all—no harm in borrowing it a bit before handing it back.
"What if there's a camera or some shit installed? Wouldn't put it past him."
I searched every inch, but nothing visible to the naked eye. Next time, I'd buy one of those detectors and scan it properly.
Anyway, this was way too comfy... The tint was solid too—no one would spot anything going down inside.
"Mmm... maybe just take it?"
It was a gift, after all. Using it like a bed couldn't hurt.
"Yeah, screw it. He said no burden, and it's already mine. Why stress?"
That's just how I roll. If shit hits the fan, I can always use my powers to threaten the old fart.
"Fuck, he's giving it away—no reason to say no, right?"
"Guess I'll sign up for a driving school. Kick off my first drive in style—people'll scatter outta my way. Heh heh heh."
Take Mom and Dad on a trip, maybe a solo ride with Yoonah... car sex, heh heh...
"Ah, drool."
"Fuck!" I wiped the saliva threatening to drip.
For the time being, I'd keep it spotless. It was this high-class, after all.
"Sleep's hittin' hard. Should I grab a blanket and pillow?"
Would be nice if someone brought 'em over. But I live alone... no one's gonna do that.
Drowsiness hit, and as I dozed off, I spotted someone approaching, eyeing the car.
"Huh? What's this guy... checking it out real close."
Looked like he thought it was his or something. It was my ride.
"Fuck, whoa... never thought I'd see a luxury foreign car in a dump like this... Who the hell lives in what unit? Car poor-ass bitch."
I'm no car poor-ass, fucker. Tch.
"When the hell do I get to drive one? Damn, whoever owns this—must be some old rich prick. Jealous as hell."
Guy was obsessed with cars. None of my business, but hearing "car poor" pissed me off a bit.
I'd better get outta here quick before it gets annoying.
"Brand new, too. Some of us slog through hell-commutes on the subway, others roll up in luxury rides. Sigh."
"Excuse me. Do you have business with this car?"
