Hypnosis Health Checkup (2)
Nakwon University Hospital was the largest in the country, so it naturally needed staff to guide visitors. This was especially true in the bustling central lobby. Today, word had come down that a VIP was visiting, so they'd sent down their ace.
Kim Sugeun. A tall hunk over 185 cm who'd majored in medical administration at a junior college. In a suit, he cut quite the figure, earning rave reviews from women. He wasn't just pretty-boy handsome; his bold, striking features made even men think twice before messing with him. That suited him perfectly for customer service, propelling him up the ranks fast. Despite his young age, he now oversaw all staff at the nation's top hospital and was quite popular with the nurses.
Today's job: entertaining the VIP. Unusually, it was a female executive, so they'd dispatched Sugeun—the guy who charmed women effortlessly—to the lobby. Regular patients weren't his concern today.
But when Kim Hea-e approached the counter, Sugeun's body reacted on instinct.
Fuck, she's goddamn gorgeous.
This was no club slut or streetwalker. An elegant beauty straight out of a chaebol wife's world was heading his way. Designer clothes head to toe. He'd quit on the spot if a big sis like her offered to sponsor him.
Before he knew it, Sugeun had strayed from his post and approached her.
"What can I do for you, ma'am?"
"I'm here for a health checkup, but it's confusing to find."
"I see. Do you have a reservation?"
"No."
Every gesture, every word dripped with class, ramping up his interest. Drawing on experience seducing married women and wrecking homes, Sugeun switched to hunting mode. His confidence? Any woman handed over her number in five minutes, date in ten. Never failed, married or taken. He'd already mentally booked a hotel room with this beauty for tonight.
"Without a reservation, same-day slots are impossible. Let me set one up—would you come to the consultation room?"
He planned to lure her to the break room sans CCTV. His go-to sex spot for trysts with favorite nurses. His good looks and smooth manners always worked. A subtle hand-grab built rapport, and they'd follow...
"Hey, don't touch me."
...except Kim Hea-e shook off his hand immediately. She even pulled tissues from her bag to wipe it down and spritzed perfume.
"What the—? What's with that suddenly?"
"S-sorry, ma'am. I didn't mean to offend."
"Of course it's offensive. Are you kidding?"
Her serious scowl told Sugeun things had gone south. He dropped the hunt. No way she'd hate him this much—unprecedented.
"Surprising. Women usually like me."
"Huh? Why?"
Genuine confusion on her face.
"Well... not to brag, but I'm pretty hot, right?"
"........."
To Hea-e, he looked like calamari.
"Guess I don't measure up. Haha..."
"Sorry. The guy I see every day is about a hundred million times hotter than you."
"A hundred million? That's a bit much, haha."
"A trillion, then?"
"......"
"No, comparing you to Hoyoung is the real insult. Sorry, forget I said it."
The hunt flopped spectacularly. No way a guy a hundred million times hotter exists, Sugeun thought, offering to book her appointment anyway. Plenty of fish, after all.
"No, I want the checkup now."
"...Our hospital's swamped. Same-day's tough. Come to the consultation room; I'll book the earliest slot."
"No, right now."
"...Any special reason?"
Her firm tone flustered him. What circumstance rushed a checkup? Urgent treatment made sense, but preventive? That could wait.
"I'm here with my son and don't wanna go home empty-handed."
"...With your son?"
Sugeun pulled every hospital stat in his head for a hypothesis. Given her looks (early 30s), kid was probably 5-7? Prime tantrum age. Hard to drag here; might as well finish now to avoid round two.
Made sense.
"Haha, kid not listening to Mom? Want me to discipline him?"
Slap!
A crisp smack shattered the quiet. Everyone froze, eyes on the assault.
Hea-e had slapped Sugeun—hard.
Dazed, it took seconds for him to process. Not "understand"—just the stinging cheek. Why? No clue. But Hea-e's face flushed purple, like she'd endured sexual harassment, utterly pissed.
"Who the hell you calling discipline? Say that again."
"M-ma'am, misunderstanding. It was a joke. Haha. Like I'd touch your son."
"Jokes have limits, seriously... I'm still fuming."
"Calm down. I'll apologize. I just thought your son was acting up."
"Huh? What? Of course he doesn't listen to me."
She looked at him like a lunatic, deeply offended.
"How dare a mom boss her son around? You're painting me as some clueless trash parent. I obey his orders, but I've never once told him to do anything."
"...Pardon?"
"Sons outrank moms. Never defy your son. Mouth off? Beatings are fair game. Basic common sense, right?"
Sugeun's eyes darted. Hidden camera? Only hospital CCTV visible. What the hell was she on about? Too serious for a joke.
Arms crossed, smug as if she'd dropped wisdom, she pitied him with her gaze. Flustered, he froze—until a droopy-eyed nurse saved him.
"Hey! Assaulting medical staff is strictly illegal! Leave now!"
Man on woman? Awkward. Woman on woman? Fair game.
Sugeun sighed in relief at the backup.
"You're banned from this hospital. Leave, or we call security."
"What? Pot calling kettle—you're yelling at me?"
"We all saw you slap our staff."
Nurse Hwang Jinyoung shot Sugeun a side-eye glare: You hit on another pretty girl and caused this mess?!
Hwang Jinyoung and Kim Sugeun: office couple. She'd eyed him flirting from the start, displeased, and jumped in when her boyfriend got slapped. Hea-e's beauty? Unforgivable.
"Want us to call the cops?"
"Go ahead. You'll be the ones arrested."
"What? You're nuts. Why us? Fine, calling for real."
Hwang actually dialed the station. Boyfriend fretted behind her, urging restraint, but she requested dispatch.
"Yes, a crazy woman's assaulting our staff for no reason. Yes, come quick—she's unreasonable."
"No reason? He threatened to discipline my son."
"Sounds schizophrenic. Hurry."
Exasperated, Hea-e clutched her chest.
"Listen, that psycho told my son to book and come back later. One slap's a mercy, right?"
"What bullshit... Wanna see psych while you're here? Be Nakwon's first psych ER case?"
"Who's crazy? Listen up. My son..."
The women's spat escalated—insults flying, teetering on violence.
That's when I showed up.
"What's going on, Mom? Why the fight?"
"Sorry for the noise, Hoyoung."
Mom bowed 90 degrees, then summarized.
Hwang and Sugeun tensed, expecting a big shot—then deflated at "her son."
"Whoa, no way. Tried charming a hottie, stepped in shit. Hey, kid, what's your name?"
"Kim Hoyoung."
"Station's two minutes away. Gonna show you real regret."
Sugeun, pride crushed, vowed no settlement, blustering.
"Gotta see this through? Why not drop it nicely?"
"Fuck off, asshole. Cops come, you're done—you and your psycho mom in jail tonight."
Sugeun smirked triumphantly; Hwang too. Tension choked the lobby. Patients and staff ditched their business to gawk.
"Two minutes" wasn't bluff—cops swarmed in fast.
Guardians of the people. Our cops. Quick was good, but...
"Hands up! Don't move! We'll shoot!"
Problem: they looked nothing like mediators. Like SWAT raiding a drug den—fully geared spec ops burst in.
"Everyone down! Move and we fire!"
"Wait—what are you? Cops in a hospital doing—"
Bang!
"Aaaagh!"
"Down, I said!!"
A chatty middle-aged guy questioned without reading the room—shot in the shoulder. Not fatal, but the air turned vicious. Dawdlers hit the floor on command.
Standing: me, Mom... and the reporters.
"Nobody moves till we say. That's an order."
The apparent leader—unbelievably authoritarian for a democracy—threatened civilians, then doffed his goggles.
Kim Dahyeon. Paradise City's police chief, locking eyes, approached like she'd expected this.
Our do-nothing desk jockey—noodles, online gambling, salary slacker—finally on scene, pissed to the max. She drew her pistol, aiming at a head.
"Eh...? Off-officer? N-not me, them over—"
"Don't point at Hoyoung-nim."
Sugeun paled before the barrel, face screaming what the fuck's happening.
"Told you idiots to end it nicely."
Too late now.
