Chapter 15
Chapter 15
[Do not be afraid.]
[I am His servant, the one who watches over you.]
[See the world through this eye.]
[Hurry to Venetia.]
The moment he met that gaze, his body froze like stone.
A floating mass covered in countless eyes had no wings—without the angelic presence, it would have looked like a grotesque monster.
Even though instinct told him it was an angel, fear could not be shaken off.
Wind howled against him, but he couldn’t even blink.
Why had an angel appeared before him?
What was that eye?
Where was Venetia?
Everything was a mystery.
He wished it was a nightmare.
He was not devout enough to meet an angel.
As the Third Prince of the Holy Kingdom, he had never manifested any sign of divine faith.
A fool who had nothing to prove his belief.
“Are you awake?”
A clear, calming voice he had never heard even in the choir reached his ears.
Before his mind caught up, his body reacted first—and he couldn’t even close his mouth properly when he saw her.
“An… angel?”
She looked about his age—around eighteen.
Silver hair, blue eyes glowing softly, burn scars that didn’t hide her beauty, and strange butterfly-shaped markings that gave her an uncanny, mystical aura.
Compared to the “monster” he had just seen, he wanted to believe this girl was the angel.
“Heh. I’m afraid I’m not an angel. Wait here, I’ll get you something to drink.”
“W-wait…”
Before he could stop her, she left the room.
Like a butterfly that would fly away if he reached out.
Only after she was gone did he finally look around.
Where is this? Heaven?
“Eek!”
When he tried to get up, his body wobbled.
Why was everything so high?
He staggered toward the door—and was greeted by a pleasant scent.
It made his mind strangely calm.
“You’re awake, sleepyhead.”
A different voice—more mature, more seductive.
He turned.
Long pink hair flowed down her waist. Ruby-red eyes. Elegant movements as she sipped tea. A presence so beautiful it could ruin a man’s sanity.
But instinct screamed at him.
Danger.
“Don’t stare so much. It’s annoying.”
She set down her cup.
He had to run.
He stepped back—but tripped over the threshold and fell.
“I just saved you. Try not to hurt yourself.”
Saved?
Me?
The prince of the Holy Kingdom?
Was I going to be sacrificed?
An ancient forbidden book flashed through his mind.
A witch using a royal as an offering…
It made sense.
“Your eyes…”
She was going to pluck them out.
His strength left him.
He couldn’t even run.
He tried to recall prayers—but they were gone.
The witch crouched in front of him, smiling brightly.
Beautiful.
And deadly.
“Your eyes… are those a passive skill?”
She held up a mirror, showing his glowing pupils.
Then—
He fainted.
“Ah. He passed out.”
“Whaaaat?!”
The Third Prince of the Holy Kingdom, Leo Patrick Florencia, was a troublemaking fool.
“….”
“Relax. We’re not enemies.”
A witch and a holy kingdom prince.
Not enemies?
Right.
He had woken up… and the witch was still here.
He told himself: stay calm, survive.
“I’m going to live,” he decided.
“Don’t move.”
A faint magical pressure made him rethink that decision instantly.
“W-will you kill me?”
“If I wanted to kill you, I wouldn’t have saved you. Do you remember the orcs?”
Orcs.
Yes.
He had gone to prove himself as an inquisitor candidate.
And then—
Nothing.
“…I don’t remember anything after the orcs.”
“Huh. Amnesia roleplay?”
He didn’t understand her tone, but it felt insulting.
“Mom, don’t tease him…”
A silver-haired girl with butterfly hair ornaments tugged at the witch’s sleeve.
Mom?
“…Mom?”
The witch sighed.
“You’re making this more complicated than it needs to be.”
The girl tried to signal him subtly.
Her finger pointed to her eye.
Eye?
His reflection in a mirror suddenly made his heart drop.
His eyes… were glowing.
[See the world through this eye.]
The angel’s words returned.
This was real.
Saint Eyes.
A divine blessing.
The witch’s expression darkened instantly.
“Kill him?”
“Nooo!”
“Please don’t misunderstand—this is my first time dealing with this!”
“I’ll remove them.”
“I’LL FIX IT! PLEASE DON’T REMOVE THEM!”
Panic exploded.
Eventually—
“…No more using those eyes in front of me.”
“Yes, ma’am…”
“Name?”
“Leo Patrick Fr—”
“Stop.”
Too late.
“…Florencia? So you’re royalty.”
She didn’t even care.
“I’m not here to curse you with your name. That’s inefficient and outdated.”
Then she pointed at the girl.
“I didn’t save you. She did.”
The girl smiled shyly.
Leo bowed his head immediately.
“Th-thank you…”
“Eek!”
She froze.
“Mom! Holding hands causes PR-PREGNANCY!!”
“What?!”
Leo’s soul left his body for a second.
Vines erupted and wrapped around him instantly.
“Wait—what is happening?!”
“Children come when you love someone!”
“That’s not how biology works—!”
He was fully restrained now.
Barely able to breathe.
“Mom, I already removed his hands!”
“Good. Before he faints again.”
Leo’s vision blurred.
One thought remained clear:
I need to get out of here.
Alive.
