The Overprotective Sister and the Rematch with Hades
Seeing Han Seongkwang looking so restless and completely deflated gave me a brief moment of hope that things might go smoother than expected. Then—
The door flew open with a violent crash as my sister barged in.
“Sister…?”
She fixed Han Seongkwang with an icy stare, then grabbed my arm and pulled me to my feet.
“If you’re done talking, we’re leaving.”
Wait, the mood had been shifting nicely, but I still hadn’t gotten a clear yes—
“Mr. Seongkwang…? So you’re agreeing?”
“Uh… yes…”
“He says yes. Let’s go.”
The moment Han Seongkwang gave a tiny nod, my sister slapped a single business card into his hand, pulled me tight against her, and marched us straight out of the building. As we left, I caught him muttering, “Maybe it wasn’t my imagination after all…” which pretty much confirmed she had been tailing us long before we even reached the restaurant.
“What… what are you even doing?”
This wasn’t some kind of dangerous obsession. I genuinely couldn’t understand why she was being so excessively clingy.
“I just hate seeing you alone with someone else… If they so much as throw you a flirty line and you actually catch it, I’m not confident I could stop myself from losing my mind.”
…Was it really that serious?
“I have zero plans to date anyone, so stop worrying about pointless things. That includes you, by the way, so don’t get any strange ideas.”
Her face brightened at first, but the moment I added that last part, it froze over again.
“Not even the slightest possibility…?”
“None. Not even the slightest.”
“…Understood.”
Come on. Aren’t I basically the same person as her? What kind of relationship was she even hoping for?
Really… I’d finally escaped that dizzying infinite ranked hell, yet somehow reality felt even more chaotic.
“Let’s just go home for now.”
“Yeah…”
Neither of us was in a great mood, so we called a professional driver and sat side by side in the back. There wasn’t much chance to talk on the way, so I killed time by finally checking the ZX versus V4 match result and the updated regular season standings I hadn’t finished looking at earlier.
ZX — 6W 0L +11
V4 — 5W 1L +7
GOD — 4W 2L +5
KNT — 4W 2L +4
LF — 3W 3L +1
RLN — 3W 3L -1
NV — 2W 4L -5
STD — 1W 5L -7
AVL — 1W 5L -7
TPG — 1W 5L -8
Just like in my previous life, ZX had taken the match despite all the drama surrounding V4’s summer debut. Since I already had a rough idea of how this timeline would play out, the comments below the standings became the real entertainment.
From the ridiculous claim that LF would finish at least fourth all the way to people already predicting ZX’s long-term domination, the thread was full of baseless fortune-telling. Yet the very last comment—one that had nothing to do with the standings—stood out the most.
VIP exclusive seats… eye candy. No need to guess who that was about.
The fact that it was being mentioned even in the regular season comment section—not just the VA gallery—showed just how shocking it must have been. And now people were already saying the silver-eyed beauty looked like the Saintess. The moment I turned my stream back on, the fallout was going to be massive.
I accidentally got some solid promotion done, but how long has it even been since I revealed my face? Another face-related viral moment already…
I’d probably have to hold off on streaming until the hype died down.
“We’re here.”
Oh, we’d already arrived. But how long was she planning to stay in that state…?
I figured I should loosen her up a bit before going back to grinding ranked. The moment we stepped out, I gave my sulking sister a quick hug.
“Eek?!”
“I’m heading in to play some ranked, okay?”
She let out a tiny shriek and froze solid, pupils shaking violently.
That reaction… I’m pretty sure that means she likes it, right…?
Even after we reached the front door she was still stuck like that. I waited a moment, wondering when the stun would wear off.
…It’s actually kind of scary.
After five whole minutes of her standing there motionless, I started feeling a little creeped out. I left her a single message and went inside first.
After that first outing and offline viewing session, I holed up in the PC bang for a while. Without streaming at all, I grinded solo ranked like a madwoman.
It really was the highest tier of the celestial realm, so the climb wasn’t easy… but the results spoke for themselves.
[5] V4 Raphez — 1672P
[6] Saintess — 1657P
[7] ZX Assassin — 1602P
The summit was right in front of me.
“Just one more win.”
Factoring in the win streak bonus, one more victory would let me snatch back fifth place immediately.
Your assigned role is Mid Laner.
Please select your class.
Warrior: Paladin, Death Knight, Berserker
Rogue: Swordsman, Assassin, Ninja
Mage: Rune Mage, Necromancer, Illusionist
Ranged Dealer: Starlight Archer, Pirate, Outlaw, Demon Hunter
Healer: Priest, Conductor
Thankfully the position rolled normally as mid. My teammates were a solid A-rank top laner, an A-rank bot carry, and an S-rank support. For a second I thought the game would be smooth sailing.
Team BLUE
KNT Vlark[17] (Berserker)
Saintess[6] (Illusionist)
AVL Hwarang[21] (Demon Hunter)
AVL Oblivion[8] (Conductor)
Team RED
RIH Genocide[19] (Swordsman)
ZX Hades[1] (Rune Mage)
GOD Artemis[12] (Pirate)
V4 Fledia[16] (Necromancer)
The ban phase had already been full of mind games between both teams, but the real shock came from the enemy lineup. Their top laner was the UK number one, their bot duo was the legendary Artemis—who had been part of the GOAT’s roster—paired with V4’s support Fledia, whom I’d faced before. And to top it all off, the mid laner I was up against was none other than the industry’s undisputed GOAT, Hades—the very player who had handed me my first ranked loss.
“I have to win this no matter what.”
The matchup itself was rough; Illusionist was hard-countered by Rune Mage. But in terms of overall team composition balance, we actually had a slight edge. My plan was to slowly tilt the game in our favor by roaming and impacting other lanes.
KNT Vlark (Berserker): They’re swapping lanes.
AVL Oblivion (Conductor): If the Necromancer’s too oppressive I can come up and help.
KNT Vlark (Berserker): I’ll try to hold the early game for now.
KNT Vlark (Berserker): The 1v1 between Swordsman and Demon Hunter is also rough, so we should avoid any major mistakes early.
AVL Oblivion (Conductor): Got it.
But the enemy seemed determined to make full use of their draft advantage from the very beginning. The Pirate and Necromancer headed top while the Swordsman went bot, forcing a lane swap. The move gave them a significant early-game edge.
Originally we could have contested every lane at least evenly, but now top is a complete disaster and bot is only slightly favored.
In this situation, the mid laner’s role became even more critical. Depending on which lane I ganked and when, the entire early game could swing. That would affect objective fights and eventually the mid-to-late game team battles. This match would require extremely delicate macro and psychological warfare.
Saintess (Illusionist): I’ll look for a bot dive first. Right now we need to commit everything to bot.
Since the enemy had committed so heavily to top, we absolutely had to secure the bot lane. But on my way down, I ran straight into Hades, who had clearly anticipated the move and was already lurking nearby.
