Chapter Title: This Wave's Reward
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Terra Burning
This Wave's Reward
[Wave defense successful.]
[Rewards are being calculated based on difficulty.]
[Difficulty is measured by points earned, level difference with the highest-level intruder, and number of intruders.]
[Calculation complete.]
[This wave's difficulty has been rated as Very Hard.]
[Points have been awarded.]
Rewards came in like this—what do you think??
The first wave rated as Very Hard lololol Honestly, I was worried sick with that troll showing up, but somehow you blocked it...
Level and points jackpot... damn.
What, it's not just solo level up—you must've hit a bug???
Isn't this the average reward for Very Hard normally??
Nope nope nope no way
Very Hard rewards are decently juicy, but not this much.
Nice nice, keep it up just like this!
Congrats congrats... mind replying once...?
Replied!
Thank you!!
Why does this guy keep asking for replies?
The Dungeon Gallery's reaction was mostly congratulations.
The veterans talked about using minions, traps, and growth features.
But what caught my eye was the dungeon expansion function.
'Dungeon expansion, dungeon theme, dungeon minions... damn, so many options. This UI sucks.'
I spotted it while browsing for traps.
This could add a second floor, expand the width.
And all sorts of other ways to build up the dungeon, but assuming straight-line corridors only, it could stretch pretty far.
Plus, I had the [New Dungeon Master Bonus], worth a whopping 45,000 points in long corridors I could install.
No matter how tough the monsters, they can't escape thirst and hunger swamps forever, so topping it off with debuff traps using the leftovers would be perfect.
Of course, it wasn't all my achievement.
I'd asked the gallery folks beforehand if the plan was feasible.
Even during the wave, I used the [Surveillance Camera] to upload live updates to the gallery.
Real-time status on the troll and goblin, advice on actions in potential combat, optimal trap spots and timing.
Everyone praised the idea.
But really, it was thanks to the Dungeon Gallery family.
Thanks to you all, I blocked it safely... really grateful...
No need to be humble
You did it. Be proud.
Seeing your rewards makes my stomach hurt a bit... but happy to have another great Dungeon Master comrade hehe...
Anyway.
My wave rewards this time seem bigger than average.
On that note, Anonymous Slaughterer explained:
We don't fully grasp the system either.
Based on gallery users' experiences so far, difficulty tiers are Easy, Normal, Hard, Very Hard, Nightmare, Insanity.
Wave rewards scale with difficulty, so it's relative.
The higher your level and points, the easier the relative difficulty, so rewards feel smaller.
Anyway.
Very Hard usually gives 3-4 levels and up to 10,000 points—that was the Dungeon Gallery consensus.
Anonymous Slaughterer said I shattered that formula this time.
I guess I should be happy...?
After all, I got more rewards than others.
Hmm...
This means your growth is several times faster than average.
Becoming a new Dungeon Master this time too—everything feels off.
Come to think of it, I had a question.
Vet bro
Yeah
You said no new Dungeon Masters can appear, right? Can you explain that?
The urgent fire was out.
With at least three days until the next wave.
Time to clear up lingering questions.
Simple analogy: imagine a huge warehouse?
It's huge but packed full with stuff and people, zero space, then suddenly a 1-ton cargo appears out of nowhere.
No idea how the cargo got in lol
And it didn't harm any existing stuff or people.
The cargo's intact too—super out of place, yeah...
Aha.
If I learn more, I'll let you know.
OK OK
Orange★ said my ability to see the Dungeon Gallery and hologram was thanks to Oblivion.
The warehouse is probably Oblivion.
Game terms: server's full, no users logging out, yet I squeezed in.
Newbieyy!!
Yeah??
What ya gonna do with 50k points...? Theme first, right?? T_T
Is this what they call free lunch?
Didn't expect to hit 50k points this fast.
Well.
I'd heard before: once points hit a threshold, pick a theme.
Before strictly following vet advice.
I figured maybe exploit a system loophole, so I asked ahead.
This is Lowjinrat Great Mountains, right?
Yup
Feels like wave rewards scale with difficulty yeah
Right?
Then no need to prep right now, right?
Only trolls to watch for here, and current setup blocks them fine. Prepping more might lower difficulty and cut rewards?
lmao what r u saying
But difficulty factors in current points held, so spending or not doesn't matter...
No exploits possible.
That's a bummer.
Trolls are said to be strongest in Lowjinrat, but that's old info—time's passed. Things could change, so don't fully trust gallery even. Always prep thoroughly!!
Guess I should start prepping now...
Exactly! Our Newbie's a smarty ham!
But seriously, how much does Doggo Maniac love humans?
Since revealing my race, it's been non-stop petting mode for 24 hours.
Feels nice to me.
But from how they treat other users, doesn't seem like naturally sunny personality.
A bit scary.
Guys, had something to ask anyway
Ask away
I'll answer what I know, nicely
What's a hidden theme??
?
?
What's that??
Huh, even these vets don't know?
After beating the troll, got [Hidden Theme – Anomaly Unlocked] message, and it added to themes yeah
I even uploaded proof pics.
My post went quiet like an official notice pinned by Orange★.
"Not like some 0.01-second domain expansion..."
I scratched my cheek.
The aesthetic of a dungeon is terror.
Words always preached by the Dungeon Master called Anonymous Slaughterer in the gallery, Sword Demon Ataraxia in the world.
Today too, she cleaves fearless intruders in one stroke.
Her silky black hair, like ebony silk, always bloodstained.
Her attitude matches the color.
Dungeon name: Tomb of Swords.
True to name and fame, her minions all wield swords.
Ataraxia flicks blood from her blade and sheathes it.
Then stares at the photo Newbie uploaded.
"Hoo."
Lately, a new routine for her.
Reading one user's posts thoroughly.
"Brought something fun again."
Ataraxia dislikes unnecessary talk with people.
So for her, who rarely logged into Dungeon Gallery, this was unexpected.
"Hidden achievement, huh. Was there such a system in Oblivion all this time?"
Her minions found her staring into space, stroking her chin, muttering to herself, quite odd—but said nothing.
They knew well what happens if they irk her.
Other themes free, but Anomaly theme costs to select
50k points no less... what do you guys think?
Ataraxia strokes her chin.
The gallery exploded.
A newbie unveiled a law even long-time Dungeon Masters ignored.
First time seeing Anomaly theme
Hmm... what the heck is this
Intriguing... Newbie becoming Dungeon Master, all these weird things happening lol
If it were me, I'd set dungeon theme to Anomaly yeah
Hidden theme lol can't resist
Honestly think it suits Newbie...
With Anomaly's power, could wipe all elves from this world??
Hidden theme.
Costing a whopping 50k points to choose.
A mysterious phenomenon never discussed in the gallery before.
Vets commented excitedly like it was their own.
Still, better choose theme carefully?
Following proven paths safer than pioneering.
Steampunk's great tho... I can tell you more fun than anyone...
Go winter yeah
Newbie wanna lay eggs too?
Bro
Personally, Ataraxia hoped Newbie picks Anomaly.
Newbie's wave tactic matched her pursued aesthetic.
Overwhelming terror.
Clearly showing intruders they can't invade.
A Dungeon Master's dungeon isn't full of dreams and hope.
That's how you protect dungeon and life.
Oblivion demands price but pays surely.
Even if not by choice.
Trades memories for power and dungeon.
Successfully block wave, grants points and levels.
Not handing rewards for nothing.
And Newbie, who showed wit this time.
Go Anomaly.
You'll use it well.
Choice is Newbie's.
But Ataraxia commented her wish.
Moments later.
Thanks everyone for the great advice
This time, going with my gut yeah
