Chapter 5
Chapter 5
The Boss’s Daughter Was Clueless
Right now, all I had on me was a single sword. That’s it.
If I were a wandering swordsman, that might be enough—but I wasn’t anything that impressive.
Just an average college student who starts doing assignments and ends up opening a game instead.
Could someone like me survive in an unfamiliar fantasy world with just a sword?
No chance.
So I had to get my belongings back. At the very least, I needed the travel money inside.
“Rene, I’m going to chase the carriage that went down this road.”
“Yes.”
“But a human can’t outrun a horse, right?”
“That’s true.”
“So I need something faster than a horse. And look—there happens to be a half-dragon right in front of me?”
“…What?”
“What are you confused about? I mean you.”
Dragonkin have wings.
So why not just ride her and fly?
“…You want to ride me?”
“Of course. Your wings aren’t just for show, are they?”
“T-that’s true, but… I can’t fly.”
“Did you injure your wings?”
She shook her head and spread them.
They should’ve been silver like her mother’s—but instead, they were dark and tainted.
Strange symbols were engraved at the tips.
“The humans who kidnapped me placed a curse on my wings… If I move them too much, my cells rot. I can fly for about five minutes… but no more….”
“Dispel.”
Crack—
The markings shattered instantly.
Her wings returned to their original silver glow.
“That should do it.”
“They said it was a high-level curse….”
“You believed that?”
A true high-level curse isn’t something humans can use.
It was just a scam to control slaves.
“Don’t believe everything you’re told.”
“…Okay.”
Now that the curse was gone—
I held out my arms.
She just stared.
“What are you doing? Pick me up.”
“…H-hug you?!”
“Or should I hug you instead?”
“O-okay…!”
She approached nervously—
And hugged me.
Burying her face in my chest.
“…What are you doing?”
“You told me to hug you….”
“…I meant pick me up and fly.”
“…Ah!”
Her face turned bright red.
Cute reaction—but no time for that.
“Calm down first.”
“Ugh….”
After a deep breath, she lifted me easily.
“Ready?”
“Yeah.”
With a powerful flap—
We soared into the sky.
Too high.
“Too high!”
“S-sorry! This is the height my mother flies at…!”
Now I understood why dragonkin were considered the strongest.
Even at freezing altitude, she was fine in thin clothing.
“Lower.”
“Like this?”
“More.”
Eventually—
“Perfect. Let’s go.”
“Yes!”
But—
The carriage was nowhere in sight.
“Let’s go back.”
“Giving up?”
“No. Changing approach.”
We followed the tracks instead.
After ten minutes—
They ended at a cliff.
“…Strange.”
The tracks disappeared.
I reached forward—
My hand passed through the wall.
“A hidden space.”
“I feel something sinister inside….”
“Nice ability.”
She could sense things beyond normal perception.
“Thanks to you, we found it fast.”
“…Then I’ll go back now?”
“Yes. Return to your nest.”
“…What?”
“You can fly now. It’s faster alone.”
“…Ah….”
She suddenly collapsed.
“My wings… muscle pain…!”
“….”
“Looks like I can’t fly for a while… what should I do…?”
That was the worst acting I’d ever seen.
She wasn’t fooling anyone.
“Can I… stay with you a bit longer?”
…Fine.
“…Do what you want.”
“Thank you!”
She instantly brightened.
So much for being in pain.
‘She’s like a puppy.’
I couldn’t help but smile.
“Yongdaengi… no, Dragon Pup might be more fitting.”
“What’s that?”
“I’ll tell you later.”
“Tell me now!”
“No.”
She pouted.
Ignoring her, I stepped into the hidden space.
Maybe—
Traveling with her wouldn’t be so bad after all.
