Patch Notes
In Infinity Realm, the role of a tank is diverse.
But in today's match, Yu Nabi needed to fulfill only one role.
To halt the enemy's advance. Everything else was trivial compared to this single task.
SnowWitch had drafted a team composition centered around relatively long range and superior firepower.
Under normal circumstances, they were in no hurry. They could easily gain the upper hand just by deflecting the opponents' attacks and chipping away at them.
In other words, the team required what was known as "holding power."
Usually, tanks secured holding power through potent crowd control.
They used tools like stuns, freezes, fears, and roots to make themselves impossible to ignore.
If the enemy tried to force their way past, they risked getting focused down and killed.
Thus, a tank's holding power was actually derived from the firepower of their allies.
Since tanks had to absorb enemy attacks on the front lines, they had to be durable.
However, if a class with high defense also possessed powerful damage, it would break the game's balance. Conversely, if they had no way to threaten the enemy, they would simply be ignored.
The standard solution to this paradox was crowd control—borrowing their allies' damage through CC.
But... what if?
What if a player had a way to absorb the enemy's attacks while simultaneously dealing threatening damage?
Then things like shields and crowd control wouldn't be very necessary, would they?
"Nabi is entering a three-on-one engagement!"
"Actually, Wild Spirits just tried to bypass Nabi once, didn't they?"
"But they were spotted immediately and gave up. This means SnowWitch is defending meticulously without letting the excitement get to them."
"It's hard to flank them. That means they have to break through. So they reluctantly launched an attack, but..."
"It hurts! It hurts so much! That place is nothing short of a death trap right now!"
On the screen, Yu Nabi swiftly leaped into the air.
She drove her scythe into the outer wall of a building and used it as leverage to escape onto the rooftop.
She repositioned herself, sandwiching Wild Spirits between herself and the monster wave.
This exact scenario had already repeated several times.
She refused to engage in a direct fight, instead drawing the poison clouds toward them.
At crucial moments, ranged support rained down, leaving the opponents completely paralyzed.
Yu Nabi was already infamous for her ability to walk a tightrope in dangerous situations.
Now that she was actively utilizing that skill, she kept producing nail-biting moments where she seemed just within reach, yet impossible to catch, on the verge of death but never dying.
In particular, the feeling of finally catching her and stabbing her in the heart, only for her to trigger Bountiful Harvest...
It was enough to make anyone want to curse out loud, game or no game.
To make matters worse, Yu Nabi had a look on her face that seemed to say, Hehe, I survived! as if she was having the time of her life.
"Wow, look at her expression."
"That is a face you can only make if you are truly enjoying this match—this game."
"She does look incredibly bright. It makes you wonder if she's the same terrifying Berserker who fought so fiercely in the previous matches."
"Well, they are winning the match quite one-sidedly."
"Matches like this are rare. It happens occasionally because there are so many variables in the game environment..."
The casters declared the game past the point of no return.
Too much time had been dragged out.
While Yu Nabi was still full of energy, some members of Wild Spirits were on the brink of death.
With their health pools this low, they wouldn't be able to turn the game around even if they managed to kill her.
Honestly, it was a miracle they had survived this long.
While their supporter suffered from mana depletion, their Temple Knight had even fallen victim to Yu Nabi's counterattack.
If Brutal hadn't played out of his mind in sheer desperation, it wouldn't have been surprising if someone had died much earlier.
But even that had reached its limit.
Eternal luck did not exist.
The kill log that finally popped up served as the death sentence for the game.
If it was hard when all three of them were coordinating, there was no need to mention how it would go with only two.
Once they began to crumble, it was uncontrollable.
Making a mockery of their resistance up to this point, the second and third kills followed in quick succession, leading to a swift wipe.
SnowWitch successfully secured a perfect score in the playoffs.
"And so! With a final score of three to zero, SnowWitch advances to the second round!"
"I think this match holds immense significance."
"It's true that this strategy was born from a specific Geas, the Prohibition, and the unique mechanics of this battlefield. It will probably be difficult to use the exact same strategy again."
"However, the execution of the strategy was flawless. It proves that as long as the conditions and circumstances align, they can bring out a new strategy at any time."
"While Nabi drew most of the attention, it's also highly encouraging that they drafted a composition centered around ranged damage dealers."
"Until now, SnowWitch was perceived as a team strong in close-quarters combat—perhaps a team that was only strong in close-quarters combat. That won't be the case going forward."
