What the Hell Is This Guy?
The vast wilderness stretched out beneath a refreshing breeze. I glanced sideways and saw golden barley stalks swaying beautifully in the wind. Even though I'd seen this sight for quite a long time now, every time I felt the vivid reality of it all, a sense of wonder still bubbled up from deep inside my heart.
“Mmm….”
There was a lot to do today. I had to hunt the wild boar in the back mountain that the farmer requested, and organize the warehouse that the village chief asked for. First, I needed to check my tools for catching that boar. My old friend, the warhammer, felt just as heavy and reliable as always.
Clank. Clank.
After finishing my preparations, I walked toward my destination, the heavy sound of my full plate armor echoing with every step.
“Ah…. Let’s see… field… heard… you guys… know better than…?!”
At the noisy commotion, I turned my head slightly and saw a woman standing there. She wore a pure white dress and held a staff in her left hand. At the top of that staff was a cross decorated with a circle in the center.
She seemed to be looking for something, and I wanted to help, but considering my profession, she was someone I simply couldn't assist.
“Haa….”
I was already busy, and now I had one more thing to do. But ignoring it wasn't an option, which was honestly the most annoying part.
Clank. Clank.
I still had to catch the boar, organize the warehouse, prepare snacks for the little one, and….
“…What do you know?! Shut up! I walk my own path!”
I also had to judge the heretic.
“…Huh? Look behind me? Suddenly? Why?”
CLANG!
The clear, clean sound of my warhammer rang out crisply. And unfortunately, the heretic in front of me seemed to have died from that single blow. As expected, heretics couldn't withstand even an attack like that. I hope she believes in a proper god next time.
I quietly closed my eyes and offered a personal prayer for her. No matter how much of a heretic she was, I believed she could one day repent.
New Dimension
Commonly abbreviated as ND in English. In Korean, it's called NewDi. It is currently the most popular virtual reality game in the world.
Even though it's been over a year since the servers opened, it's a vast world where new regions are still being discovered. The NPCs, powered by cutting-edge artificial intelligence, feel just like talking to real humans. This game practically screams, "This is what the open-world genre is all about!"
Not only that, but the variety of content is so diverse that many say anyone can enjoy it regardless of their preferences. If you want to enjoy the essence of an RPG, you can just play New Dimension itself. If you prefer competing against others, there are PVP and AOS modes. If you want to enjoy a new world in a relaxed and peaceful way, there's a travel mode. You can do anything. You can enjoy anything. That freedom was the game's biggest selling point, and it worked so well that New Dimension has become the most trending game worldwide.
Of course, it's still just a game, but its popularity is so immense that there's no other way to describe it.
In other words… for internet streamers, it's practically a must-play title.
Tyuni. A 22-year-old woman working as a variety game streamer on the Liming platform. Her refreshing appearance contrasted sharply with her bold, unfiltered way of speaking, but that was actually a pretty common concept in the highly competitive streaming industry. As a result, she was a small-time streamer who rarely exceeded fifty average viewers. In other words, she was a true bottom-feeder.
She had always avoided playing New Dimension, using motion sickness as her excuse. But this time, she lost a bet with her viewers and had no choice but to play it. The class she chose at the start was Priest. The reason was that the default outfit was a pure white dress with a refreshing vibe. When she explained that, her chat was flooded with frowning emojis, but she stubbornly stuck with Priest anyway.
And the moment the game started, her fans began giving her unsolicited advice as if it were the most natural thing in the world.
It started with the malicious trolls who just wanted to mess with her, followed by walls of text full of advice. These kinds of chats were familiar to Tyuni, who had an unusually high number of toxic fans despite being a small streamer. But since this was her first time playing a virtual reality game, her patience exploded almost instantly.
“No! The strategy videos said this is actually a pretty good beginner field! What do you guys know better than them?! Then why don't you upload strategy videos yourselves!”
She was so busy arguing with the viewers over the barley harvest quest from the village chief that she couldn't even start. But she knew that backing down now would only bring a bigger storm, so she stubbornly fought back. Of course, she also knew the viewers loved this kind of chaos, so it wasn't entirely without calculation.
“That’s basic manners, you idiot! Ugh, whatever. What do you guys know?! Shut up! I walk my own path!”
Still, it was about time to actually play the game. So Tyuni roughly wrapped up the argument and tried to proceed with the barley harvest.
Clank. Clank.
Suddenly, a heavy metallic clashing sound rang out from behind her.
The fans frantically tried to alert Tyuni to the anomaly, but…
“…Huh? Look behind me? Suddenly? Why?”
Death was already right in front of her nose. By the time Tyuni turned around, the massive warhammer had already reached her face.
CLANG!
A clear, clean sound rang out, and Tyuni’s vision was dyed pitch black.
〔Death〕
“….”
At the system message announcing her death, Tyuni momentarily forgot how to speak.
“Aaaaaagh!!! Who the hell is that guuuuy?! It’s one of you, isn’t it!!!”
“What the hell are you even saying, you son of a biiiiitch!!!”
The greatest strength of New Dimension. The high degree of freedom that lets you do anything. And its greatest weakness. The high degree of freedom that lets you do anything. Tyuni learned that lesson thoroughly right from the start.

When I opened my eyes and looked around, the first thing that greeted me was a bed and desk in a room that was quite spacious for one person. And on the desk was a computer.
“…What is this?”
To figure out the situation, I left the room. To the left was a large living room, straight ahead was the bathroom, and to the right was the front door.
“…What is all this?”
It was definitely my fifteenth birthday today. Of course, there was no one to celebrate with me, so I had planned to stay cooped up in my room cursing the world. But I hadn’t wished for a situation like this.
…Wait a second.
This scenery feels familiar.
The thought flashed through my mind, and after racking my genius brain, I finally arrived at the answer.
“…Earth?”
On the day of my fifteenth birthday, I returned to Earth.
[Selene Benedetta]
For some reason, the house, identification, phone, and everything else had been perfectly prepared. The fact that my age had suddenly jumped from fifteen to nineteen was a bit surprising, but it wasn’t enough to really bother me.
And so, I…
“Haaam….”
Retired from my position as a Heretic Inquisitor and proudly took up the mantle of a full-time shut-in hikikomori.
I wake up at eleven in the morning. I open a delivery app and order a lunch box. After eating, I turn on the computer and browse various galleries. What popular manga or games are out these days? Has anything interesting happened? Then for dinner, I order another lunch box through the delivery app, scroll on my phone until dawn, and go to sleep. When I wake up again, it’s eleven in the morning. Repeat.
Well, at first I tried to live with some motivation. After all, I had returned from that blood-soaked world to peaceful Earth. But when I turned on my phone, there were zero saved contacts. Just in case, I checked my previous life’s self and, as expected, I had died from overwork. And every time I went outside, countless eyes poured over me. All of that piled up until my initial motivation cooled off in an instant, and I returned to the shut-in lifestyle I was already familiar with.
In my previous life. And in that other world. I had always shut myself in my room once work was done. If anything, this was my true calling.
“…Ah.”
Before going to sleep, I felt thirsty and opened the fridge, but there was no water left. Come to think of it, the one I took out for lunch earlier was the last one. I had thought about ordering more right after drinking it but forgot.
“Haa….”
I didn’t want to go outside, but a hikikomori life wasn’t easy enough to endure without water. Tap water was out because of that distinct chlorine smell. If I ordered now, it wouldn’t arrive until tomorrow morning, so I had no water to drink right away. It looked like it was time for a rare outing.
