Chapter 755: The Angel's Wrath?
Chapter 755: The Angel's Wrath?
“Do you understand! The point is, do not take advantage of our generous nature and act however you please!”
I was in the middle of getting a lecture from Diana.
I was still clutching my forehead where Sara, in a fit of embarrassment, had slightly misjudged her strength and struck me.
I couldn’t even stand, remaining obediently on my knees.
“Yes. I’m sorry.”
I wanted to argue that I had no such intention, but as the guilty party, I had no choice but to nod meekly.
Besides, they probably understood that much even if I didn’t say it.
“You don’t wish to become that kind of deplorable husband, do you!”
“Of course not. I always want to be the best man for my women.”
See?
The fact that she didn’t ask if I wanted to be, but was certain that I wouldn’t want to be, proved that Diana truly understood my heart.
“Stop getting distracted while you’re being scolded! You lack remorse! Remorse!”
But her knowing me too well was also a bit of a problem, as Diana seemed to have noticed my mind wandering for that brief moment.
With the side of her hand, Diana rapped the back of the hand I was using to clutch my forehead.
“Kuaagh?! Wait! Not there! Sorry! My apologies! I’m sorry!”
That attack, unlike her usual cute little pats, dealt an incredible amount of damage.
To be precise, it wasn’t so much Diana’s attack as the pain from aggravating the spot Sara had already hit.
“Stop being such a baby!”
“I’m not… Ouch! Ow!”
Th-this girl… Surely she wasn’t getting excited and hitting me more just because it was the first time her physical attacks had actually worked on me, right?
Damn it. I’ve definitely got a bump now.
Well, thankfully, in this world, things like this can be healed with holy power, so my face won’t be permanently scarred.
In any case, I’d been getting lectured like this for quite a long time.
There was a very long story behind how things had ended up this way.
But if I had to summarize it, it would be: Seeing my girls’ calm demeanor, I thought they weren’t as angry as I expected, so I slyly joined in on teasing Sara, only to get hit with concentrated fire from all sides.
Yeah. I know. I was an idiot.
“Huu. So, the fact that things progressed with Miss Rachel as they did… does that mean the story I told you before was helpful?”
After the long lecture finally ended, Diana let out a sigh and brought up Rachel.
I see. So that’s what Diana thought.
It made sense. Diana was the one who told me about Rachel’s past in the first place, and since my relationship with Rachel had progressed so suddenly, of course she’d think that.
Does that mean they’re less angry than I thought because Diana told them that story?
“No. I haven’t told her that story yet.”
“Hmm? You haven’t told her at all? Then today…?”
“Today just kind of… I went with the flow?”
Even if it was my girls, I couldn’t tell them it all happened because Rachel mistakenly thought I was going to abandon her, could I? For Rachel’s honor.
“Wait a minute. Then what about the Apostle Appointment? You did the Apostle Appointment, right?”
At my casual answer, Sara cut in from the side with her question.
Huh? The Apostle Appointment? Why all of a sudden… Ah. Wait. Don’t tell me they thought I’d even performed the Apostle Appointment on Rachel?
Right! So that’s why they weren’t as angry as I’d expected!
Since they know the joy of receiving the Apostle’s Seal themselves and how meaningful it is, my girls are incredibly generous when it comes to the Apostle Appointment.
They’d even yielded their nights to me for Silvia, Matilda, and Vanessa on the days of their appointments.
In other words, they thought my being late without any contact was for that reason… I’m screwed.
I haven’t done the Apostle Appointment yet.
No. To be precise, it’s not that I didn’t, but that I couldn’t.
After finishing inside Rachel, I had, of course, tried to perform the Apostle Appointment.
But, as one might expect, it didn’t activate.
Honestly, I didn’t think it was a big deal at the time, so I just let it go.
That’s because I wasn’t expecting it to work anyway.
Rachel’s anxiety had grown, leading us to have sex in the heat of the moment, but the fundamental problem she held in her heart hadn’t been resolved.
In other words, the story Diana had mentioned earlier.
Thinking back on what Rachel said, it seemed the idea of playing hard-to-get came from putting her head together with that adventurer whose dating experience was questionable at best. But that didn’t mean her words about the conditions for becoming fully mine were just empty talk.
Her words, asking me to give her faith.
At first, I took her excuse at face value—that she was asking for faith because she doubted she could feel loved among so many other women. But now, I knew the true meaning hidden in those words.
Rachel was afraid of losing someone precious in the dungeon again.
That’s why she used those words to buy time and keep an ambiguous distance from me, so that I wouldn’t become too precious to her.
Until she could believe that I would always return safely from the dungeon.
Because if we became proper lovers and she acknowledged me as someone precious, there would be no turning back.
Not even if I were to lose my life deep in the dungeon where no one would ever know.
Well, in the end, she became restless and clung to me just from the misunderstanding that my love had cooled a little, so I guess you could say Rachel’s attempt to observe me from an ambiguous distance ended in failure.
Anyway, the point is, I have to give Rachel faith.
The faith that she will never, ever lose me to the dungeon.
Compared to Vanessa’s case, where I didn’t know what to do, the conditions for the Apostle Appointment are much clearer this time. That’s why I didn’t worry too much when it failed earlier.
I never imagined that snowball would roll back to hit me like this.
“…Actually, the Apostle Appointment is also… not yet… heheh.”
All I could do was offer a charmingly awkward smile.
“So, you were planning to stay out all night for something that wasn’t even as important as an Apostle Appointment?”
“Ah, no. Wait a minute. I didn’t stay out all night. I didn’t.”
Sure, I was very late, and the time we’d have together tonight might be a little shorter than usual, but still.
“You were about to, so it’s the same thing!”
That’s… that’s too much! What kind of logic is that?!
“Sara, please calm down.”
I was speechless at Sara’s ridiculous logic, but thankfully, this time our angel stepped in to stop Sara’s rampage.
“But, Leia!”
“It’s alright.”
Normally, Sara wasn’t someone who’d be subdued so easily, not even by our angel, but the situation was a little different now.
Because tonight’s leading lady was Leia.
Besides, Leia’s turn had already been pushed back once when she yielded a day to Vanessa just before this.
And she’d given up a night that must have felt incredibly long.
It was understandable, since we’d only spent that one night together before heading right back into the dungeon.
And on top of all that, because of today’s incident, the time she got to spend with me had been shortened, even if just by a little.
So if there was anyone here who had the most right to be angry, it was Leia.
Sara knew that well, which was why she was deferring to Leia, at least for today.
Since even Leia was staying calm, it would be strange for her to get any angrier.
…Looking at it this way, it was truly a miracle that Leia hadn’t exploded yet.
As expected of our Archangel. Her compassion was on a level that a mere mortal like me couldn’t even begin to comprehend.
But Angel Leia didn’t just stop Sara.
“Guwon, you must have thought you’d be able to perform the Apostle Appointment. That’s why you were so late. Isn’t that right, Guwon?”
Th-this was strange. She was definitely wearing the same gentle smile as always. So why was I trembling?
Experiencing the feelings of a frog that’s locked eyes with a snake, right in front of an angel, I stood at a crossroads.
Should I tell a white lie, or confess the truth?
“…Well, you see. It’s complicated.”
“Yes. I’m listening.”
“At first, I was planning to have an important conversation that would be the key to the Apostle Appointment. But things got twisted up, and, well, we ended up having relations without properly talking it through. So, strictly speaking, by the time we had relations, I was already thinking the Apostle Appointment wouldn’t work… B-but I never intended to be late! I never dreamed I’d get home this late!”
Scary! The angel’s eyes were scary! She was smiling, but it looked like she wasn’t smiling at all!
She’s going to get angry! She’s definitely going to get angry!
I’m finally going to see Leia’s anger explode for the very first time!
Damn it! This was a sight I’d hoped to never see in my entire life!
“…Then, if you spend one more night with Miss Rachel starting now, will you be able to perform the Apostle Appointment?”
“Of cour—huh?”
But contrary to my expectations, the next words out of Leia’s mouth weren’t an angry rebuke.
Instead, they were the gentle words typical of Leia, offering to yield her night to someone else again.
No. At this point, I wasn’t even sure what ‘typical of Leia’ meant anymore.
Just how big was her heart?
Is it really okay for a person like this to exist in the world?
This wasn’t on the level of an angel.
Could she actually be a goddess in disguise?
“So, if you spend tonight with Miss Rachel…”
“Nonononononono!”
“Oh my, you can’t?”
“I can!”
I probably could.
If I had the whole night, there would be plenty of time to talk about Rachel’s past.
“Then…”
“But that’s not the issue!”
“Huh?”
I firmly gripped both of Leia’s shoulders. Her expression was so serene it almost seemed vacant.
“The one I want to spend tonight with is you, Leia! Nothing else matters!”
“Ah…”
At my shout, Leia’s cheeks flushed faintly as she grew shy.
But even so, Leia didn’t lose her angel-like consideration.
“B-but, since Miss Rachel has this chance…”
“Leia. I’ll say it again. That’s not what’s important right now. I am absolutely spending tonight with you. That’s all that matters. Understand?”
“…Yes.”
Only after I said that did Leia finally nod her head.
“Well then, we’ll be going first. We’ve lectured you enough, and it’s gotten quite late.”
Seeing us, Matilda stood up from her seat, creating an atmosphere of dismissal.
When I did something similar to Sara earlier, she went into a pink-hued mode just from her delusions, yet this time, even though I think I said something even cooler, this was her reaction.
I knew it. She can control that pink-hued mode at will, can’t she?
Well, whatever. Right now, I was just grateful.
Taking Matilda’s words as a cue, the other girls read the room and began to leave the dining hall one by one.
“Well then, Guwon. I’m going to go wash up.”
“Huh? Ah, okay.”
After watching the others leave out of the corner of her eye, Leia spoke with a slightly bashful expression.
But I couldn’t help but feel a sense of unease at her words.
It was only natural. We had just come back from the dungeon today.
And there was no way Leia, who had been at the mansion ever since, hadn’t washed up in that time. If anything, she had probably washed more thoroughly than usual.
In fact, a faint scent of soap was wafting from her body.
And yet she was going to wash up?
“So, Guwon, you should also wash up thoroughly and wait for me.”
At Leia’s next words, I finally understood their true meaning.
Come to think of it, I had only given myself a quick rinse with spirits; I hadn’t properly washed.
And for Leia, with her keen sense of smell, to specifically emphasize washing thoroughly… it had to mean that, right?
Leia had only ever shown her angelic side, but maybe she was actually angry deep down?
Though that slight doubt crossed my mind, I nodded eagerly.
“Okay! You’ll come back as fast as you can, right? I’ll be scrubbing myself squeaky clean!”
“Fufu. Yes.”
After parting with the smiling Leia, I rushed to my room to diligently wash myself, just as I’d said I would.
And only after arriving in my room did I remember there was still one problem left to solve.
Come to think of it, Rachel is still on my bed
