Chapter 277: Saint Guwon
Chapter 277: Saint Guwon
“…I’m exhausted.”
“Y-You worked hard.”
After returning to the mansion, I was completely drained.
Leia comforted me, holding my arm tightly.
As always, my angel is the only one for me.
If you’re wondering why I was so wiped out, it was, without a doubt, because of Matilda.
Completely dejected by my final words at the temple, Matilda had followed us from a slight distance, trudging along miserably.
To a stranger, she would have looked like a stunningly beautiful woman with a wounded expression, walking the streets all alone and forlorn.
It goes without saying that men flocked to her like bees to honey.
And the conversations that followed were a real spectacle.
“Why is a beautiful lady such as yourself walking the streets all alone so sorrowfully?”
“Huh? A-Am I beautiful?”
“Of course. More than anyone I’ve ever seen…”
“Stooooop!”
Even from a distance, it was painfully obvious that Matilda was about to fall for the guy.
From my perspective, it looked as if her eyes were literally turning into heart shapes.
Seeing that, I had no choice but to step in.
“Wh-What the hell are you?!”
“What do you mean, what am I? I’m with her! Get lost!”
“What? But…!”
“Matilda! You’re with me, right?”
“Huh?! Yes!”
As I pulled Matilda to my side, she, for some reason, threw herself into my arms and started looking at me with her eyes about to turn into hearts.
Ugh! In trying to save some other guy’s son, my own son is about to die!
“Hey! After I just went on that whole tirade about how unattractive I am, you’re going to fall for me this easily?!”
“Hah! I-I wasn’t falling for you!” she shouted, finally seeming to snap out of it a little as the dazed look in her eyes cleared.
I quickly pushed away from her and spoke to the man who had been trying to pick her up.
“Hey. You should be grateful to me for the rest of your life. Count your lucky stars and get out of here.”
“Wh-What are you talking about…”
“I said, go.”
“Tch…!”
The man looked utterly confused, but when I spoke with a hint of killing intent, he seemed to lose his nerve and practically fled.
Sigh. How can this girl fall for someone just for being called pretty once? Being born with a face like that, she must have heard she was pretty countless times, to the point of being sick of it.
I couldn't let it go without saying something, so I turned back to Matilda.
“Hey, you…”
“You… did you step in to help that man? You have a surprisingly kind side to you…”
But what I got in return was Matilda’s gaze, once again growing hazy.
“Hell no! I interfered because I wanted to see you end up miserable!”
“H-How can you be so cruel…?!”
Thanks to my brilliant quick thinking, I managed to prevent the disaster of Matilda falling for me.
You can still stand, right, my son? …Yes. He stands. Thank goodness.
I felt like I wanted to pat my praiseworthy son on the head.
My own honor may have been thrown into the gutter, but at least I protected my son. Is this what they call paternal love?
In any case, Matilda, who now thought of me as a piece of human trash beyond imagination, once again started walking at a distance from us. And, once again, another scoundrel came sniffing around.
Each time, I had to repeat the same process.
All the way from the temple to the mansion.
I tried telling her to just walk with us instead of keeping her distance, but her personality made that impossible too.
“Why? Do you want to walk with me?”
If she said that, I had no way to respond.
If I said I wanted to walk with her, she’d fall for me. If I said I didn’t, she’d reply, ‘Then I’ll just keep walking like this.’
Thanks to that, every time a creep approached the distant Matilda, I had to repeat the process of saving him.
Still, I learned one thing for certain from all this.
If we had left her at the temple, there would have been at least dozens of victims a day.
“Hm. You’ve returned. What are you doing at the entrance… and who is that woman?”
It seemed Diana had already returned from the Guild.
Then again, we did take quite a while for a simple trip to report that Leia had become the High Priestess.
Looks like there’s no time to rest just yet.
“Ah, you must not know her, Diana. This is Cardinal Matilda.”
“Hm? Cardinal Matilda…? What?! Wait! Get away from him!”
Diana tilted her head for a moment, then jumped in shock. She wrapped both hands around my waist and frantically tried to drag me far away from Matilda.
Of course, since I stood my ground, she couldn’t actually move me and just ended up struggling with a series of grunts.
So Diana knows the rumors about Cardinal Matilda, too. Judging by her reaction, she’s never seen her face before, but it seems her reputation as a hazardous entity is quite famous.
I patted Diana’s head and said, “It’s fine. Nothing to worry about.”
Thanks to sacrificing my own honor to save countless other men, my reputation with Matilda has already hit rock bottom.
Still, I couldn’t let my guard down, since her expression would go hazy if I showed her even the slightest bit of kindness.
To think she’d fall for a guy just because he was a little nice, even while thinking he’s a bad person. Just how easily does she fall for people? It’s a miracle she’s made it this far without getting entangled with some scumbag.
“Who might you be? You’re quite rude for a first meeting.”
“I am Diana Telluna, the master of this mansion. Surely you’ve heard the name?”
“Dia… the Supreme Archmage?! Why is someone like you…”
“Did you just refer to my husband as ‘someone like you’?”
Diana, still clinging to my waist, took an extremely wary stance toward Matilda.
“H-Husband…?!”
“Anyway, I’ll explain the details, so let’s go inside. And Matilda, could you ask Vanessa to prepare a room for her?”
“Hm?! You don’t mean…”
Diana started staring at me with suspicious eyes.
Bringing a woman home out of the blue and asking for a room to be prepared for her… yeah, I can see how that would be misunderstood.
But Diana, think about it. This is a girl who turns men impotent if she falls for them.
“No. No. Don’t misunderstand. As proof, here. Look. See?”
“A-Are you an idiot?! What are you doing in a place like this?!”
To prove my innocence, I immediately used Revived Pride.
Diana, who was clinging to my waist, felt my Dick swell against her body and jumped back in shock, slapping my stomach.
“Oof.”
“Wh-Why are you making that strange noise?!”
Ah, sorry. My thing is pretty big, you know? It had gotten large enough to reach the spot you slapped, thinking it was my stomach.
Besides, it was Diana who slapped me. Even if she balled up her fist and hit me with all her might, it would feel like a gentle tap.
So when Diana’s palm made a surprise attack on my Dick, of course I’d make a weird noise.
“A-Anyway, this proves my innocence, right? Let’s go to my room. I’ll explain.”
“Wait! I’ll go with you…!”
“No. You’re good.”
Now that we’re safely back at the mansion, I have no intention of getting involved with you any further.
From now on, I’ll avoid even seeing your face as much as possible.
I left the crestfallen Matilda with Vanessa and headed to my room with Diana and Leia.
“By the way, why is Miss Silvia on your back?”
With the new face gone, Diana finally seemed to notice, tilting her head as she asked.
Her expression was strangely sullen, as if she thought her designated spot had been taken.
Hey. My back isn’t exactly your designated spot, you know? Though I did promise I’d carry you anytime.
“Hm? Her? She fainted.”
“What did you do this time?”
“Nothing. I didn’t do anything special. Right, Leia?”
“Yes. All he did was hug her and rub his cheek against hers in front of many people. Hehe. Miss Silvia is quite shy, isn’t she?”
Ugh! Leia! You didn’t have to be so specific!
“So you didn’t do anything special, huh!”
In the end, I was subjected to Diana’s pitter-patter attacks again today.
Well, Diana’s attacks are cute, so I don’t really mind.
Anyway, once we reached my room, we decided to call Sara over and explain the situation to everyone at once.
At first, Sara entered my room hesitantly, still embarrassed about last night, but upon seeing everyone gathered, she reverted to her cool expression and approached me.
She looked a little disappointed, so maybe she was hoping to talk to me alone.
I only told the maid to bring Sara because I had something to talk about, so maybe she misunderstood. How cute.
“Guwon? I heard you had something to talk about.”
“Ah, yeah. We have a new houseguest. I wanted to explain the situation.”
I explained everything in order: how the Goddess had descended through Leia, how I was almost revered as the church’s Saint because of it but the decision was postponed due to lack of evidence, and finally, how Matilda came to live in our mansion as a houseguest.
“…I understand the situation. But was there really a need to bring her to our mansion? She could have just stayed at the temple.”
“I told you. If she did, there’d be a huge number of victims every day…”
“They’re just victims, it’s not like they’re dying, right?”
“You shouldn’t say that, Sara. They would be unable to receive the blessing the Goddess has bestowed upon this world. That would be too pitiful.”
“But if we keep her here, there’s a risk that the same thing could happen to Guwon, right? And Guwon is more important to me than other people.”
“Umm…”
Even Leia couldn’t refute that and just wore a slightly troubled expression.
“Hey, hey. Both of you, stop. Even if she stays here, I plan on basically not interacting with her. Besides, her impression of me is already the worst it can be, so it’ll be a little harder for her to fall for me than for other guys.”
“What did you do?”
“…Just…. a lot of things happened.”
Having sacrificed my own honor to save countless other men’s sons, am I not the true saint? Not my job class, but the Saint in the general sense of the word.
“Guwon, stay strong. I know everything.”
“My angel!”
“Don’t use pretending to cry as an excuse to bury your face in her chest!”
Tch. Busted.
She’s always exceptionally sharp when it comes to chests.
“In any case, I understand. If this is for you to gain recognition from the church, then I shall cooperate.”
Diana seemed quite pleased with the fact that I would be recognized by the church.
Come to think of it, she was the one who emphasized the importance of fame to me, so this turn of events might be quite to her liking.
Of course, that’s probably because I left out the part where the church tried to hold a wedding for me and Leia.
It’s probably for the best that I keep that to myself, right?
“If even Diana says so… But in exchange, Guwon, you are absolutely forbidden from getting close to that Cardinal woman!”
Sara, though clearly unhappy, seemed to accept it as inevitable and emphasized her point to me again.
“Don’t worry. Why would I let myself become impotent when I have beautiful girls like you all by my side?”
Damn right. If I lost my manhood with them around, my life wouldn’t be worth living.
With a determined look, I tried to pull all three of them into a hug at once, but their reactions were surprisingly cold.
“Oh, Guwon…”
Leia, at least, gave me a slight glare but didn’t seem to mind as she let herself be held.
“We’re worried about you, and yet! Even in a situation like this! Is that all you can think about?!”
Diana said as she launched her pitter-patter attack.
“You’re such a pervert!”
And then a follow-up attack from Sara.
Wait! Diana I can understand, but you, Sara…!
“Keoheok…! Ghk…! I-I was just trying to reassure you…. Leia…”
“Yes, Guwon. I’m right here.”
At least Leia was there to catch me with her chest as I collapsed from Sara’s attack, halving the pain.
This bosom is the utopia I’ve dreamed of. My very own sanctuary that frees me from all suffering…
“I told you not to use that as an excuse to bury your face in her chest! Do you like big ones that much! Big ones!”
“Guwon, you pervert!”
In the end, the commotion that started with Matilda ended with me getting knocked out by Sara’s attack.
