Chapter 148: The Hidden Effect of the Saint's Skills
Chapter 148: The Hidden Effect of the Saint's Skills
Guwon was kneeling on the floor.
The glares were piercing.
Before him, Sara, Diana, and Leia stood looking down at him.
Diana’s eyes blazed with fury. Leia’s, for some reason, were filled with disappointment. And Sara’s were as cool and aloof as ever.
Wait, Sara, didn’t you forgive me? …Right. You didn’t.
Come to think of it, Sara had never actually said she forgave him for sleeping with Vanessa.
And the most piercing glare wasn’t even coming from the front. The most intense gaze of all was coming from his side.
Vanessa, I never knew you could make a face like that.
Kneeling beside him, Vanessa was staring at Guwon with eyes full of killing intent.
“Vanessa… even you…” Diana muttered from the front, her expression grief-stricken.
“Pfft.”
The atmosphere was incredibly heavy, but Guwon couldn’t hold back a laugh at that line.
Who do you think you are, Caesar?
“Do you find this situation amusing?”
“No.”
Guwon immediately straightened his face and replied.
“I believe I made myself clear. I told you I wouldn’t stand by if you touched my girls. And of all people, you had to go and touch Vanessa?”
“Lady Diana, my sleeping with Vanessa was due to unavoidable circumstances…”
“Silence!”
“Yes, ma’am.”
Guwon shut his mouth.
This didn’t seem like the right time to talk.
First, I’ll take the scolding. Once things calm down, I’ll explain the reason. It won’t be too late.
“And you, Vanessa! Did I not warn you to be careful around this man? I trusted you, which is why I put you in sole charge of attending to him! How did you fall into the beast’s clutches?!”
A shocking truth, revealed only now!
The reason why Vanessa, a butler, was attending to me instead of a maid was finally clear.
Still, isn’t this a bit much? You have zero faith in me.
And a beast, really? I didn’t even seduce her.
I’m not that skilled in the first place. Me, with my zero dating experience, seducing Vanessa, who looks like she’s on the highest difficulty setting? Does she seriously believe that?
“Lady Diana, it is not like that. There were unavoidable circumstances that led to me sleeping with this man.”
“You’re saying that too? What is it? Go on, tell me. Tell me about these ‘unavoidable circumstances.’”
What’s with this discrimination? That kind of hurts, you know.
In any case, having been granted the right to speak, Vanessa began to explain in detail the events that led to her sleeping with Guwon.
And as her story continued, Diana’s expression grew more and more contorted.
“Are you an idiot! Did I not tell you not to use Holy Ground Proclamation while you sleep?!”
“That was because it’s dangerous not to get a good night’s sleep in the dungeon. There’s no reason not to train my skills now that we’re out of the dungeon, is there?”
“There are plenty of reasons! How could you use an area-of-effect skill without knowing who’s around?!”
“How was I supposed to know she’d need me to relieve her? I figured even if someone was in the holy ground, they could just take care of it themselves.”
“Does that make any sense?! If they could relieve themselves, why would the monsters only rush at you?!”
A vein popped on Diana’s forehead as she berated him. She looked like she was one step away from stomping on him.
Wait a minute. What did she just say?
“You… don’t tell me you knew? That people affected by my skill can’t get relief from anyone but me?”
“Of course I did! Did you think I was just watching for the sake of ‘skill research’ without doing any analysis?!”
“Then why didn’t you tell me?”
At that, Diana looked slightly flustered.
“W-Well… if I had told you, it’s obvious you would have abused it!”
Yeah, okay, she’s got a point there.
If she had told me back when we’d just met, when my mind was filled with nothing but sex, I probably would have tried to use the skill on every woman I saw.
During my first time with Diana, I even thrust into her past self knowing it could kill me. It wasn’t strange for her to think that way.
But that wasn’t the important part.
Guwon put on his most wounded expression.
“You couldn’t trust me that much? I thought we had built a rather deep relationship of trust.”
“N-No, it’s not that…”
Good. She’s getting flustered. Let’s wrap this up while I have the chance.
“If you had just told me, Diana, this whole unfortunate incident wouldn’t have happened in the first place. But it’s okay. What’s done is done, right? We just have to be more careful from now on.”
“Y-You…! You’re the one at fault, how dare you try to shift the blame!”
But Guwon’s scheme didn’t work.
Damn. I guess she’s not an opponent I can just smooth-talk my way past.
“But it’s true, isn’t it? You all understood the reason I slept with Vanessa from her explanation, right? I can’t do anything about what I didn’t know. I’ll just have to be careful from now on.”
Guwon decided to go with a defiant strategy.
I’ve given a perfectly reasonable explanation. That should be enough.
“Guwon… to be so irresponsible. I’m disappointed.”
But at that single sentence from the angel, Guwon had no choice but to immediately change his tune.
I was wrong. Please, just don’t look at me like that.
When Leia looked at him with those eyes, a wave of guilt washed over him, making him feel like he had to apologize even if he’d done nothing wrong.
“I have committed a crime worthy of death. How can I ever atone for this sin?”
“…I see. First, swear that you will never touch my girls again.”
“Yes. I swear.”
“And if you do, we’ll cut off that thing hanging between your legs.”
“…Wait a minute. It’s fine as long as I don’t initiate anything, right?”
“What did you just say?”
“Nothing. I said nothing.”
“And Vanessa, you will cease to be this man’s attendant, effective immediately.”
“…Yes, my lady.”
Vanessa replied, her expression crestfallen.
Seeing her usually stoic face look so dejected made me feel sorry for her. I guess I have no choice but to step in, right?
It took considerable courage to voice an opinion to the murderous Diana right now, but Guwon opened his mouth anyway.
“No, wait a minute. I don’t think that’s right.”
“What? Are you still lusting after Vanessa even in this situation?!”
“No! Just calm down and listen to me for a second.”
Guwon desperately tried to soothe Diana, who was about to fly off the handle again.
“I’m not saying this because I want to be close to Vanessa. If you give an order like that, it could be interpreted as you not trusting her. Vanessa was forced into my arms against her will; she’s a victim, too. That’s too harsh. If you give that kind of order, how do you think Vanessa, who has served only you her entire life, will feel?”
“Ugh… B-But…”
Perhaps seeing the logic in Guwon’s words, Diana’s ferocity weakened.
“In times like these, shouldn’t we entrust my care to Vanessa to give her a chance to restore her honor?”
Diana looked at Vanessa, who nodded with a determined gaze.
“Please give me one more chance. I will not disappoint you this time.”
“…Very well. If it looks like something is about to happen with this man again, you have my permission to cut his thing off.”
“Yes, my lady.”
Vanessa’s expression was more serious than ever.
…Huh? Hey, there’s no need to go that far. Did I just completely dig my own grave?
“…Thank you.”
But when Vanessa whispered those words, audible only to Guwon, he decided he didn’t care anymore.
She wouldn’t actually cut it off, right?
As the atmosphere suggested the interrogation was finally over, Guwon stood up.
“Ugh!”
But after kneeling for so long, his legs felt like they were being zapped with electricity.
Losing his balance, Guwon couldn’t help but fall.
Of all directions, he fell toward Vanessa.
The sturdy Vanessa didn’t even budge as Guwon collapsed onto her. In fact, she stood her ground without the slightest movement.
Thanks to that, it looked exactly as if Guwon was throwing himself into Vanessa’s arms.
“The words are barely out of your mouth…! Vanessa!”
“Yes, my lady. I will cut it off.”
Vanessa immediately tried to pull down Guwon’s pants.
Naturally, Guwon, feeling a threat to something more precious than life itself, desperately pulled his pants up.
Aaaah! Why is she so strong?!
“W-Wait! You saw what happened! My legs were numb! You can let this slide, can’t you?! W-Wait, for real?! Let’s talk, let’s talk this out!”
Guwon struggled with all his might and barely managed to protect his prized possession.
“Pfft. It was a joke. Now that you know how precious it is to have it properly attached, you’d better behave. While it’s still attached, that is.”
“Rest assured. I was merely playing along with Lady Diana’s joke.”
No. The look in your eyes was dead serious.
Guwon was starting to become a little scared of this master-servant duo.
By the time things settled down, it was already lunchtime.
After eating, their usual daily routine finally began.
Leia went to the temple, and Diana was apparently going to teach magic to the members of the Mage Association.
And Sara and Guwon were in his room, putting their heads together.
How could they carry out Sara’s revenge while avoiding the eyes of the law?
They might have gotten a more definitive answer if they’d asked Diana for advice, but the two of them decided against it.
After all, even if it was to avenge the man who killed Sara’s grandfather, what they were planning was still a crime.
They both agreed that they didn’t want to drag anyone else into it.
Honestly, if it was just a matter of killing Pots in the dungeon, it would be simple.
All I’d have to do is use Saint’s Touch or Saint’s Wave on him while he’s fighting.
I don’t know how skilled he is, but there’s no way he could fight a monster properly under those circumstances.
Wouldn’t indirectly causing his death by a monster still be recorded on my Adventurer Card?
If I were to attack him, it might leave a record on the card.
But I already confirmed at the magic tower that the Saint skills aren’t recognized as attacks when they passed through the mage’s shield.
The only problem was the difficulty of approaching Pots undetected on the wide-open 2nd floor, but that was an issue I could solve by leveling up my Assassin job.
The biggest problem wasn’t whether or not we could kill Pots.
It was the fact that whenever Pots fought in the dungeon, Kate would be right next to him.
Putting together what he’d said when he was bragging about Kate, he met her in this city. He met her after he killed Sara’s grandfather.
In other words, Kate had nothing to do with Sara’s revenge.
But what if we kill Pots while he’s fighting a monster in the dungeon? Naturally, Kate, who is with him, would also die.
Can’t we just rescue her after Pots is dead? That’s impossible, too.
Pots suddenly starts acting strange and gets killed by a monster, and right after, Guwon’s party appears to rescue her. Anyone would find that situation incredibly suspicious.
Besides, Kate would try to recover Pots’s body.
She would obviously find the semen he’d ejaculated in his pants, and then it would be an open-and-shut case that Guwon was the culprit.
That was why Sara and Guwon were racking their brains.
How could they kill only Pots, cleanly, without getting an innocent person involved?
If I’d known this would happen, I shouldn’t have blown up Kyle’s dick at the orphanage. If I’d asked him, an assassin, for help, things might have been easier.
He’ll probably never listen to a word I say again, right?
No. It’s useless to regret a card I can’t play.
Even if I hired him to kill Pots, it would just mean one more person knows the secret. This is something we have to handle ourselves.
No matter how much they thought, a suitable solution didn’t present itself.
“Maybe I should just take care of him with my bow…”
Sara said, her expression impatient, but Guwon calmed her down.
“Sara, calm down. I know you’re anxious with your grandfather’s killer right in front of you, but this is when you need to be the most composed. Would your grandfather in the afterlife be happy if you ruined your life over a piece of trash like that?”
“But still…!”
“And I don’t want to be separated from you because of some scumbag, either. Let’s think about it a little more, together.”
“…Okay.”
But in the end, no answer came to them that day.
