Chapter 113: Leia's Daily Life
Chapter 113: Leia's Daily Life
“Alright, we’re heading out.”
“Ughhh. Go on, then….”
After finishing their meal, the party left the mansion, leaving Diana behind.
Diana looked quite depressed at the thought of facing those fanatics again, but there was nothing Guwon could do to save her from that.
Live strong.
First, we stopped by the talented seamstress’s shop to pick up Leia’s clothes.
Since I’d commissioned an identical set to what Leia was already wearing, there wasn’t much to check.
The important items were the pieces of equipment we had left with Hanna.
“Hanna, I’m here. Is the enchanting on the gear we left you finished?”
“Of course. I gave them a deluxe upgrade, just as you ordered. Follow me.”
Hanna immediately led the party toward the workshop.
“Well? What do you think?”
In a corner of the workshop, several pieces of equipment were laid out neatly.
“No way, is this our gear?”
I wouldn’t have recognized it if Hanna hadn’t told me; it had changed that much.
The once-plain leather armor was now etched with a stylish engraved pattern, and its color had shifted from an ordinary brown to one with a faint bluish hue.
Even the color looks cooler now.
What had felt like simple beginner’s leather armor before the upgrade now looked quite impressive.
But more than anything, the gauntlets and boots had become incredibly cool.
The knuckles of the gauntlets and the tips of the boots now sported sharp, claw-like spikes, which I absolutely loved.
It looked like they had been fused with werewolf claws.
The spikes weren’t so large as to hinder movement, but they were honed to a sharp point, looking more than practical enough.
Between the seamstress at the clothing shop and the people here, they really knew a thing or two about style.
This is how it should be. Upgrading gear is only rewarding when it gets a visual upgrade, too.
“Looks like you like it?”
“Yeah. I love it.”
Guwon immediately tried on the equipment.
“Whoa. This is cool.”
The forge’s furnace was blazing, making the workshop quite hot, but the moment I put on the armor, the ambient temperature I felt plummeted.
This is amazing.
“Right? To think this is possible without magic. Monsters really are fascinating creatures.”
Hey, you’re the one who upgraded it like this. You’re not allowed to be fascinated.
“What about you two? Do you like yours?”
Guwon tore his eyes away from his own gear and looked at Sara and Leia.
“Yes. It’s nice.”
“Yes!”
Sara answered rather calmly, while Leia replied with a radiant smile.
Huh. Their reactions are the opposite of what I expected.
Since it was combat-related, I thought Sara would be much more excited than Leia.
No, wait. Leia went through a lot of trouble to get a staff in the first place, so of course she’d be happy.
Leia was hugging the staff tightly with both arms, looking like she was about to rub her face all over it.
Seeing our angel so happy fills my own heart with abundance.
Especially since the staff was now nestled in the cleavage of her priestess’s robe, which clearly revealed the curves of her body.
Although, thinking about how many monster dicks probably went into upgrading that staff gave me mixed feelings.
No. Let’s try not to think about it that way. I can’t defile our angel.
This time, I took a proper look at Sara.
The first thing that caught my eye was her bow.
For some reason, it felt like her bow was getting bigger and bigger.
It had become more ornate, but it was now significantly larger than the bow Sara had first carried.
Won’t that be hard to hold and shoot? Or does her archer class compensate for that?
Her armor, like mine, had a faint bluish tint and was etched with an engraved pattern.
Of course, Sara’s leather armor was different from mine; it was a sleeker design that hugged the lines of her body to allow for greater mobility.
“This makes it look like we got matching couple’s armor.”
Since we had them upgraded together, the engraved patterns were the same. The color was identical, too.
“D-Don’t say something so stupid! How is that your first impression of upgraded gear?”
“What’s wrong with it? You don’t like it?”
“I…! It’s not that I dislike it, but….”
Sara seemed about to instinctively say she hated it, but for some reason, she changed her words midway.
Ooh. Can I take this to mean she’s embarrassed?
Maybe I should praise her a little more.
“Wow. It’s pretty and looks great. I guess when you have a good frame, anything looks good on you.”
“W-What are you saying? That’s so embarrassing! Stop it!”
Sara’s face grew redder and redder, her cool expression on the verge of cracking.
Alright. Just a little more.
“Should we just walk around like this? If you’re embarrassed to wear armor alone, I’ll wear mine with you. Like a couple…”
“That’s enough! I’m taking it off!”
It definitely didn’t seem like she hated the idea…
What exactly is the problem?
“Your clothes?”
Completely separate from Guwon’s thoughtful pondering, his mouth reflexively spouted the first nonsense that came to mind.
“The armor!”
In the end, Guwon got hit before Sara’s cool expression had a chance to break.
If I put it in my inventory and joked, “Sara’s freshly removed, still-warm armor… pant, pant,” I probably wouldn’t get away with just one smack, right?
Guwon desperately suppressed the joke that was about to escape his lips.
After gathering all the equipment, we arrived at the temple.
Leia went inside to prepare, leaving Guwon and Sara to wait outside.
Sitting on a bench in front of the temple, basking in the warm sunlight and gazing at the clear sky, I felt a sense of peace wash over me.
“It’s peaceful.”
“…It is.”
“Sara.”
“Y-Yes?”
“I’m not going to eat you, so could you let your guard down a little? This oppa is dying of loneliness over here.”
“Wh-Who’s your oppa? Who? And I wasn’t on guard or anything, okay?”
“Then what’s with this distance?”
For reference, Sara was sitting on the bench next to Guwon’s.
Sara, my dear, a bench is designed for multiple people to sit on one.
“I don’t know? Emotional distance?”
“Keuk.”
At Sara’s words, delivered with a cool expression, Guwon clutched his chest and slumped forward.
That one really hurt.
Her words felt like a sharp spear piercing through my ribs and lodging itself in my heart.
“What… what do I even have to live for now….”
“I-I was just kidding.”
Perhaps Guwon’s reaction was too pitiful, because Sara, startled, quickly scooted over and sat right next to him.
“Y-You kept teasing me, so I just teased you back a little. Thinking about it, what I said was too harsh, even for a joke. I’m sorry….”
Sara desperately leaned down, trying to get a look at the face of the slumped-over Guwon to check his expression.
Yes. I knew I wasn’t wrong.
At the very least, there’s no way she has zero feelings for me.
I had been genuinely dejected for a moment, but Sara’s reaction brought Guwon right back.
Getting back up quickly after falling is just one of my many strengths, after all.
But Guwon didn’t raise his head just yet.
I couldn’t let this opportunity slip away.
“No. I can’t forgive you.”
“Wh-What?! You were teasing me nonstop just a second ago….”
“Ugh. The shock from earlier has left a tearing pain in my chest….”
“Wh-What do you want?”
Hmm. I haven’t thought about it.
Honestly, I just wanted to tease her.
What should I ask for? What request would fluster her the most?
Guwon began to think seriously.
But as Guwon remained silent, Sara must have decided she couldn’t leave things as they were.
She gently placed a hand on Guwon’s head and pulled it toward her.
Right now, Sara was sitting pressed right up against him.
By pulling his head from that position, it naturally resulted in Guwon burying his face in Sara’s lap.
Then, Sara began to stroke his head.
“I’m really sorry…. I didn’t mean it.”
Hey, hey, why are you suddenly doing this and making a guy feel guilty?
This isn’t your character.
Caught completely off guard, Guwon was more than a little flustered.
Of course, that didn’t mean he lifted his head.
Call me the man who seizes his advantage in any situation.
But… I should probably apologize for teasing her earlier, right?
If I don’t apologize in a mood like this, I’d be a complete asshole.
Even Guwon had his limits.
“Sara, about that…”
Trying to apologize felt awkward, and Guwon hesitated.
Damn it. This atmosphere is the problem. Why did she have to create such a cozy mood all of a sudden!
Alright. Here I go!
“I also… Gack!”
But Guwon’s apology was never completed.
Before he could finish his sentence, Sara suddenly shoved him away, sending him tumbling right off the bench.
“What was that all of a sud—.”
“Oh my. Leia. Are you ready?”
Turning my head in the direction Sara was looking, I saw Leia and the more innocent-looking of the two priestesses from yesterday standing there, carrying large bags.
Her name was… Chris, was it?
“Yes. Have you been waiting long?”
“Not at all. The weather was so nice, we didn’t even notice the time pass. Guwon? Stop messing around on the ground and get up.”
Sara spoke to Guwon with a cool expression, as if her gentle demeanor from moments ago had never existed.
Th-This woman….
“Mr. Guwon, what are you doing on the ground?”
“Ah, nothing. Just doing some bodyweight exercises.”
“Oh my. You’re working hard even on your day off.”
“Haha. I’m a pretty diligent guy. Give me the bags. I’ll carry them. You too, Miss Chris.”
“Thank you.”
As he took the bags from Leia and Chris, Guwon glared at Sara.
From a position where Leia and Chris couldn’t see, Sara made a desperately apologetic face.
Seeing that reaction, it seemed she was just embarrassed to be seen like that by others.
To be honest, a part of Guwon was also relieved to be free from that tingly, awkward atmosphere.
But there was no need to forgive her so easily, right?
Guwon looked at Sara and mouthed a few words.
Just. You. Wait.
Sara, who must have successfully read his lips, adopted a slightly despairing expression.
Lately, my head has been hurting from trying to figure you out, something I’m not even good at. Now it’s your turn to suffer a little.
With that light revenge on Sara complete, Guwon followed behind Leia and Chris.
“We’re heading to the slums again today, right? Is it far?”
“It’s not too far. We should be there in about thirty minutes.”
That’s pretty far. I can’t believe she carried this bag all that way.
Whatever was inside, the bag was quite heavy. Well, for me, I could just put it in my inventory.
“So? How are things going with Leia?”
After walking for a bit, Chris suddenly struck up a conversation.
And the topic was quite suggestive.
“What do you mean by that?”
“Exactly what it sounds like. Are things going well with Leia?”
“No, Leia and I aren’t really like—huh, don’t tell me…!”
A startling hypothesis popped into Guwon’s head.
“D-Did Leia ever say anything about being interested in me?”
“Nope. Not at all.”
But Guwon’s hopes were instantly shattered.
“Then why would you ask something like that….”
“Because you must like Leia, right? There’s no way a man could hang around someone like her and not fall for her.”
It’s true that Leia is angelic in many ways. Sometimes I really doubt if she’s a creature that lives in the same human world as us.
Wait, a minute. Does that mean…?
“Is Leia… popular?”
“Of course she is. Do you even have to ask?”
Yeah. Even as I asked, I had a feeling it was a stupid question.
Damn it. Just when I thought I could relax after dealing with the scumbags clinging to Diana, now there are scumbags after Leia….
No. Calm down. Leia’s case is different from the others.
For one, she can absolutely only have sex with me.
In that department, at least, I can be completely at ease.
Let the other guys try all they want. Those bastards would become corpses if they so much as kissed her, let alone had sex.
Guwon instantly got a grip on himself.
“Hmph. As if they’d be any match for me.”
“Ooh. You’re very confident.”
Chris said, clapping her hands lightly.
“Cool, right?”
“Yes.”
“Kuh. This damn popularity of mine. Try not to fall for me, okay?”
Guwon said, getting carried away with himself.
Being called cool was something I’d never get tired of hearing.
“Okay. I won’t.”
Hey. You don’t have to be so blunt about it. That hurts.
I’m kidding. You can fall for me.
“Leia-noonaaaa!”
At some point, the town scenery had begun to look a little shabbier. Just as we walked a little further, a loud voice suddenly called out.
