I Became the Yakuza's Nanny (1)
I felt my heart pounding and tried to steady my trembling body. Getting suddenly summoned by the executives had me terrified of what I might have done wrong.
This was the Yamasaki-gumi Headquarters. A terrifying place where most of the Tenno Union’s combatants gathered. One slip-up here and it wouldn’t be a finger that flew—it would be your head.
That was why I was even more tense than usual. I had to keep my head bowed to the people at the top.
Slide.
When I opened the sliding door of the traditional house, a large room covered wall-to-wall in tatami mats appeared before me.
As I stepped inside, fierce-looking female yakuza with bandages wrapped around their stomachs were waiting, leaving the center of the room empty.
Just looking at them was enough to make anyone piss themselves—their savage faces, the grotesque irezumi tattoos covering their bodies. Most of them had heavy scarring. Making eye contact alone brought on a fear so thick it felt like your bladder might give out.
I’m a yakuza. I haven’t committed any real crimes, so I’ll walk in with confidence.
The shared memories gradually shaped my expression and posture into something more fitting for a yakuza. I strode into the room without hesitation.
“I’ve come at the boss’s summons! My name is Sihyun!”
I bowed first, then entered and walked straight to the center of the room where I belonged.
The eyes watching a rookie like me were filled with a mix of emotions.
There was pride and worry at the fact that I was the only male yakuza, but in the gazes of a few others I could clearly feel raw sexual hunger.
So there really isn’t a single male yakuza here.
They were rare, appearing only once in a while, but there wasn’t even one among the executive ranks.
“I will take my seat.”
I knelt on the tatami, knees aligned perfectly in an ‘11’ shape, then removed my top and folded it neatly.
My exposed chest drew even more eyes, but the most important thing was my back.
There wasn’t a single tattoo on it.
The executives actually stopped me from getting one.
With the recent crackdowns on yakuza, they had started banning anything that could be easily spotted—like tattoos. On top of that, since I was a man, they had ordered me to keep my back clean to avoid honey-trap operations.
“It’s been a while, Sihyun. I hear your recent exploits have been impressive.”
The woman standing at the far end of the room—Yamasaki Keiko, the boss—finally spoke.
She had an iron grip on loan collections and outstanding combat records. Catching thugs and forcing them to join the organization voluntarily was another achievement, so many of the executives looked at her favorably.
Most importantly, she was the benefactor who had supported my parents.
The original owner of this body had a mother who was also a yakuza. After she died, it was the boss who took care of our family.
A man must repay his debts in person. That was why I had joined the Yamasaki-gumi with this body and devoted myself completely to the organization.
Good thing I have powers even though I’m a man.
This world was similar to mine—a world where special abilities existed. Some people were born with them naturally and could take on special professions.
“I greatly value the devotion you’ve shown the Yamasaki-gumi despite being male. However!”
Gulp.
The boss’s one good eye—the one without a sword scar—slowly opened. Caught in the heavy atmosphere, I swallowed hard and kept my gaze fixed on her until the end.
Showing any weakness here would cause massive problems for the rest of my life.
“I have an important task to entrust to you.”
“A task, ma’am?”
“Yes. A very important one.”
This might be the most critical mission I’d ever receive in this organization.

“This is my daughter, Shizuru. Take good care of her for the time being.”
“Ah… yes, Boss.”
My eyes landed on the girl hiding behind the boss. She stood with her arms crossed in a rude pose, eyes narrowed arrogantly.
Her hair was a deep indigo blue. She looked older than a little kid—probably somewhere between middle school and high school age.
She’s the boss’s daughter, so it’s not the worst, but how long am I supposed to play nanny? No wonder the world was named that…
I Became the Yakuza’s Nanny. Just like the title of the world I’d possessed, I had really become a babysitter.
“Does this mean I’m being removed from combat duties?”
“Since you’re her nanny, it’s fine if you just make her meals and come and go. Just make sure you protect her so Shizuru doesn’t get hurt.”
“Understood.”
Keiko seemed to find our awkwardness hilarious. She let out a booming laugh, patted my back several times, and left the room.
It was my first time at the boss’s actual residence, so it felt a little novel, but mostly just uncomfortable.
She’s my benefactor, so I should give it my best, right?
I wasn’t particularly fond of dragging a kid around, but I decided to take care of her properly. I knelt down to meet her eyes.
“Nice to meet you. I’m Sihyun. I don’t have a family name, so you can just call me Sihyun—”
“Simuhyeon? Joseonjing?”
Fucking bitch.
I didn’t swear often, but the sudden “Joseonjing” comment instantly put me on edge.
Honestly, she wasn’t wrong. My father was Korean, so I was half.
I had been named Sihyun instead of taking my yakuza mother’s surname to avoid danger… but I had already become a yakuza anyway.
I sent a tearful apology to my parents in heaven and forcibly swallowed my rage.
“My father is Korean, so… yeah, I guess I’m half Joseonjing.”
“Not funny~ You said you’re one of my mom’s subordinates, right?”
“Yes, that’s correct, young lady.”
“Young lady? Pfft. How old-fashioned. Ah~ I’m hungry. I’ll be playing games, so just make some food.”
For a split second I nearly lost control and smacked her on the head with the back of my katana. But with miraculous mental fortitude I held back, put on an apron, and headed to the kitchen.
Let’s get lunch over with quickly and go do actual work.
My whole body was already buzzing. I hadn’t even done anything yet and the stress was piling up so fast I felt like I might explode.
But when I reminded myself she was the boss’s precious blood relative, the irritation eased a little. I poured everything I had into cooking.
Preparing meals for the people at the office had become routine during my life as a yakuza. Everyone had picky tastes, so I had reached the level where I could make almost any home-cooked dish.
They always try to tempt me into marriage because of it.
Apparently my overly domestic side had made quite a few women fall for me and try to seduce me.
“Lunch is ready. There was minced meat so I made hamburg steak… Is that okay?”
“Well, it’s not a bad choice. The taste… eh, it’s passable?”
“Heh. Pffft.”
“What’s so funny? Huh?”
Even though she called it passable, she was still a kid—she shoveled the food into her mouth like she was starving. It was honestly kind of cute.
While I waited with a fatherly heart for the young lady to finish eating, I took out my phone and checked it.
As expected, the messages were all from women trying to seduce me, loan operators demanding more money, or people asking me to rough someone up.
This person…
The name and faint memories of the detective rose in my mind.
She was called a detective, but in truth she was a specialized hunter who went after yakuza with abilities. A crazy bitch who abused her power under the banner of “the people’s stick” whenever we used our powers in the back alleys.
She even carried a gun and shot it whenever she felt like it—a total psycho.
We got entangled after fighting once a year ago, huh?
I hadn’t experienced it myself, but it seemed the original owner had clashed with her properly in the past.
“Young lady, I’ll wash the dishes and step out for a moment.”
“Already abandoning your duties? You really have zero patience.”
“It’s not that. Just wait a little, please.”
I wiped the sweat from my palms onto my clothes and stepped outside. The name on the phone was, of course, Detective Shinoda.
I stared at the contact for a moment, sighed, thought it over, then dialed.
The familiar ringtone sounded. After a short wait it stopped, and the call connected.
“Hi~ Moshi moshi, this is Detective Shinoda.”
“You already know why I called.”
“I have something to talk about. Want to meet at a café nearby?”
“I don’t have time to go on a date with you, so just say it.”
Dealing with this sly detective was exhausting.
I used the Acting trait to perform as best I could, but there was a limit. The more I tried to imitate the original yakuza, the more mental fatigue piled up exponentially.
“Aww~ Still, wouldn’t it be better to meet and talk? Or should I come investigate in person?”
“Is there… something to investigate?”
“Guns, swords, illegal loan sharking. That’s just what I know—want me to keep going? I heard you crippled a few thugs the other day.”
“I’ll pick the place. Back alley.”
I had zero interest in laughing and drinking coffee with a detective like her. Meeting in a back alley where normal people wouldn’t see us was far more comfortable.
Using power ordinary people couldn’t even imagine, I leapt onto the roof of a building.
Agility: Upper-Middle
Luck: Low
Intelligence: Middle
Mana: High
So this is what getting stronger feels like.
I definitely felt much stronger than I had been in reality. Combat techniques and ways to use my power flooded into my mind one after another.
“This is awesome!!”
The freedom I felt after leaving that stifling place was unbearably sweet.

This is Shizuru. Still a rude little brat…
