Chapter Title: Mobile Game Development Team
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Monday morning on his commute to work, Myunghoon was already feeling like death warmed over.
The reason? A single personnel notice email that had flown in right before clocking out on that golden Friday.
As a ten-year senior developer at Enson GT, transfers were as routine as brushing his teeth, so normally he wouldn't have batted an eye at the email. But this one was different.
'Moving someone who's only ever done PC games to the mobile game development team? Does that even make sense...?'
And to top it off, word was going around that the development director for this newly formed mobile game development team—thanks to the latest reorganization—was some outsider hire. Myunghoon was losing his mind.
'Did I screw up somewhere...? I got along great with everyone in HR, though?'
He barely shoved the nagging thoughts of jumping ship out of his head and hit the elevator button for the floor.
Not the fifth floor where his daily PC game development team was, but one level up on the sixth.
Instead of the familiar fifth-floor hallway buzzing with people, he trudged down the quiet sixth-floor corridor and knocked on the door labeled "Mobile Game Development Team."
"Yes, come in!"
A woman's voice—one he'd never heard before—rang in Myunghoon's ears.
'Who the hell...?'
He cocked his head at the total stranger's voice and stepped inside, locking eyes with an unfamiliar female employee organizing her desk.
Height around 160 cm, maybe?
Neat bob cut brushing her shoulders,
Sharp features that screamed beauty to anyone looking, paired with a mature expression.
The kind of woman you'd sneak a second glance at on the street, but he'd never laid eyes on her at Enson GT.
"What brings you here?"
"Well, see, it's like..."
Right then, the office door swung open and people started filing in. Myunghoon's pupils quivered like crazy.
'W-women...?'
Front row: women.
Back row: women.
The whole damn office: women.
Myunghoon's breath hitched in his throat.
◇◇◇◆◇◇◇ "...What the hell is this?"
He'd come straight to the office as instructed yesterday, only to find what looked like his team members clustered at the entrance.
"Don't crowd the doorway—head inside the office, everyone!"
After sorting out the jam, he stepped in and got a proper look at the team.
"As per the company email from last night, check your assigned seats, and meet in the conference room in ten minutes!"
No arguments—they scattered to their spots without a peep.
He shot a quick nod to Yerin, who'd beaten everyone there and was tidying her desk, then ducked into the conference room a beat early.
Normally the PM handled all this setup, but with total strangers...
He'd prepped planning docs for the headcount on each seat, dialed the AC to comfy, even cracked open canned coffees. Then they started trickling in.
First in: Yi Yerin, naturally—the one he felt least awkward around.
"No one give you any grief when you showed up?"
"Nah. They just asked if I was new and which team. Told 'em this one, and they dropped it."
"Good. Dodged a bullet."
After the producer's heads-up yesterday, he'd fretted about hazing... Glad it passed.
"Grab a seat for now."
He watched her nod and settle in, then the door creaked open for the next arrival.
Neat-ish but wildly bushy hair,
Horn-rimmed glasses so thick you could barely spot the eyes,
Baggy white collar tee screaming "comfort first,"
Skinny frame like it only "exercised" breathing.
And the clincher: eyes darting away from Yerin like a shy kid. Trust meter shot to max.
'Producer wasn't kidding about sending an ace...'
"Nice to meet you. Kim Myunghoon, right?"
"That's me."
"Pleasure. I'm Ji Hojin, director for this mobile game development team."
"Kim Myunghoon, reporting for mobile game development duty."
Stereotype city, rude as hell to the guy... but damn if he didn't scream top-tier programmer.
"Have a seat and hang tight—much appreciated."
Seated Myunghoon as far from Yerin as physics allowed, then the door flew open and the rest piled in.
"Woo, hi hi everyone!"
"...Nice to meet you."
"I'll do proper intros later—pick whatever seat works for now."
Once seated, he swept the room and spoke up.
"Hello, formal intro time. I'm Ji Hojin, your director for the mobile game development department starting today. Great to meet you all."
Words barely out, applause erupted.
"Okay, hold the claps... Let's roll through team intros first. Yerin?"
She stepped up at her cue, bowed neatly, and went.
"Hi, I'm Yi Yerin, art director for the mobile game development team. Lots of rough edges, but please go easy on me."
Bow, done—applause poured in, same as his.
Veteran leaping to director? He'd braced for pushback... None. Whew.
Yerin back, next: Kim Myunghoon.
"Hello. Kim Myunghoon here—ten years on PC game dev, now TD for mobile game development. Uh, please take care of me..."
Started strong, then voice trailed off like he'd choked.
Probably the all-ladies lineup...
Applause and a nod of encouragement—he slunk back. Next up.
"Hi there! Kang Yumi, business PM fresh from business team to mobile game dev! Twenty-three, blood type B! Here to back you all 110%! Nice to meet ya!"
"......"
Same applause, weird vibe though.
Less "extrovert E-type," more "fourth dimension" energy...
"...You talk like that over in business?"
"Nooo way! I keep work and play separate!"
"...Business intro, one more time?"
"Hello! Kang Yumi, business PM assigned to mobile game planning. Pleased to meet you!"
"Oh..."
That bubbly bit a total act? Diction straight out of broadcast central.
General producer's all-in on this project hit home again.
'Aces all the way, he said...'
Inner awe-fest cut short—Yumi sat, last one shuffled forward all hesitant.
"U-um, hi... Yoon Seol here, starting as creative director for mobile game dev today... N-nice to m-meet you..."
"Clap it up."
Bigger applause—she bolted to her seat mid-bow, overwhelmed.
Tall, eye-catching looks... but painfully shy inside.
'Gotta baby her mental game more.'
Team rundown mentally filed—he clapped for attention.
"Eyes up. Quick intros done, still awkward? It'll fade with work. Questions? Hands."
Hand shot up before he finished.
Kang Yumi, natch.
"Not a question—suggestion okay?"
"Shoot."
"Director, we're all feeling the distance still. I blame your formal vibe!"
Others nodded—fair point vibes.
"So, casual talk like with Yerin unnie? Whaddya say?"
"Hmm..."
Solid take—he nodded easy.
Never been the iron-fist type anyway.
Had gone extra stiff for first meet—her nudge was a gift.
"Any hates on Yumi's idea?"
Crickets, no hands.
"Cool, casual it is... Seol, lights out?"
She flicked the switch—he fired up the projector.
Familiar PPT bloomed on the wall.
"Outta nowhere, but kicking off first meeting for our project—working title 'Project GM'."
