Descent to the Wind Swordsman
Whoosh—
At the northwestern edge of Edlen city, Hanbit and Yeonwoo arrived at a cliff overlooking a canyon after finishing up in the forest. The river below snaked like a thin thread, so deep it made your stomach drop.
-This is fucking scary;
-Wind Swordsman lives up to the name whoa
-Embarrassed to admit it, but I'm freaking out a bit.
-Was there a place like this?
-Perverted weirdos always find spots like these. lol
The dizzying height hit the viewers hard too. Yeonwoo just stood there, mouth agape in a daze.
[Quest]
You've heard news of Swordsman Baldor's master. If you earn his recognition, you might learn a very special technique.
Objective: Find the Wind Swordsman in Edlen Forest.
Reward: Linked quest unlocked
The Wind Swordsman mentioned in the quest description—a place that truly lived up to its name, just as the viewers put it.
"This is really the spot? Tell me it's not."
"This is just the entrance. Gotta follow the path further."
"Oh, there's a path?"
Yeonwoo let out a small sigh of relief. Kneeling down, Hanbit peered below and said, "If you're scared of heights, head back to the city."
"S-scared? Not scared at all. For real."
-Total chicken. lol
-Not scared (save me)
-But where's the path?
-Climbing down the cliff face?
-That's gotta be pioneering level.
The viewers scrambled to spot the next path. Of course, nothing like that existed.
Quite the crowd followed us.
Glancing back, Hanbit spotted a bunch of people flinching in the forest shadows. They'd been tailing them since leaving Edlen.
Ding—
[SafetyFirst has registered a 10,000 won challenge mission.]
[Bungee without a cord go go]
Right then, a challenge mission popped up.
"Nah, that's just a death wish. Bro, skip this one."
Yeonwoo shook his head in disbelief after checking it. Then another message followed.
Ding—
[Anon has registered a 30,000 won challenge mission.]
[With Roper go go]
"What? Don't mess around! I'm absolutely not... Bro? Why are your eyes like that?"
Yeonwoo, who'd been genuinely pissed, looked at Hanbit's face. That glint and smirk screamed mischief about to happen.
"Wait. Hold on. Not that, for real. If we fall from here... Urk!"
Thud!
Grabbing Yeonwoo's arm, Hanbit kicked off toward the cliff's edge. Plummeting immediately was only natural.
"Waaaaaah!"
-Insane. lmao
-He was a good streamer.
-Falling so damn fast. lol
Whoosh!
The two kept dropping. "Hyeeeeeeng!"
Yeonwoo screamed beside him, on the verge of tears.
Almost there.
Hanbit checked the height against the wind. Just before their bodies hit bottom—
Squelch—
The scenery around them suddenly shifted.
"Ugh... Huh?"
Thinking he'd died for sure, Yeonwoo lifted his head from the ground, looking around wildly. A massive cave-like structure bathed in sunlight everywhere. Straight ahead stood a slender stone tower piercing upward, with a spiral path winding from the floor all the way around it.
-?
-What the?
-Why aren't they dead?
-Where is this?
-What's that thing?
The shocked viewers tried to make sense of it too. Hanbit stood calmly and glanced at chat.
"Mission cleared, right?"
"...Ah."
Snapping out of it, Yeonwoo yelled at Hanbit, "Bro! I really thought we were goners!"
"We're alive, aren't we? Grab the prize money."
"...Fine."
Sighing, Yeonwoo completed the challenge right away.
Ding—
[Cuckoo has sponsored 1,000 won.]
[The guys sneaking after you are suicide-jumping into the canyon. Over 300 now.]
-For real. lol
-Are they crazy?
-So damn many.
-But why do they die?
-Explanation Black Dragon pls.
A sponsor message spilling the outside drama. The trailing players had apparently jumped after Hanbit too.
"Probably 'cause they don't have this."
Hanbit showed the camera a cloth marked with a green sword emblem—the item from the swordsman.
"Just a cloth?"
Yeonwoo asked, intrigued. Shaking his head, Hanbit replied, "This is like the spirit realm. This cloth's your entry ticket."
"...Spirits?"
"You'll see. Let's go meet Baldor's master first."
"Where's the master?"
"Right there."
Hanbit pointed to the top of the stone tower. A tiny human silhouette was visible at the peak.
"That's the Wind Swordsman? So we just climb that path and done?"
"Climb it and yeah. Let's go."
"...Huh?"
-That's it?
-Then it's total trash skill.
-Spirit realm my ass.
-For real? lol
Doubts bloomed at the too-simple method. Yeonwoo hurried after Hanbit.
"Bro, this skill's a dud, isn't it?"
"Why? Too easy? You were screaming your lungs out earlier."
"Ugh, that's different. If it's just follow the path, it's easier than other skills."
Yeonwoo, who'd hoped for something epic, couldn't hide his disappointment. He wanted a flashy scene.
Stopping at the entrance, Hanbit asked, "Wanna go first?"
"...Why all of a sudden?"
"Looks impressive from inside. Better footage if you film it."
"Yeah?"
Tempted, Yeonwoo stepped forward with a brighter face. After a few steps—
Shwick!
Something grazed his cheek.
"...Huh?"
Frozen, Yeonwoo creakily turned his head. An iron arrow was embedded in the opposite wall.
"Urk!"
A beat late, he bolted back in shock, hiding behind Hanbit and whining, "Bro! What the hell was that?!"
"Just follow the path, right? Easy peasy."
"Argh, seriously! You knew and let me go?!"
-Fuck, it was a trap. lol
-???:Easier than other skills.
-Ah lol, easier to die.
-Just dodge, right?
-Nah, gotta tank lightly.
Glancing at chat, Hanbit pulled a bow from his inventory.
"Why the bow?"
-Straight fight whoa
-Gonna shoot the master down?
-Crazy. lmao
Straight—
Hanbit quietly nocked an arrow and drew the string.
Ping!
Releasing, the arrow flew fast into the spiral path's inner wall.
Ping! Ping!
"...What're you doing?"
"Let's go. Stay back a bit."
"Huh?"
After shooting a few, Hanbit walked calmly ahead, past where Yeonwoo had stood.
"Did you... disarm the traps?"
"Follow close. Fall and you're done."
"What does that even... Bro! Ahead!"
Rumble rumble!
A massive boulder rolled from the front with Yeonwoo's shout. Hanbit raised a hand, eyed the floor, and yelled,
"Fire Burst!"
Boom!
The floor shattered in a huge explosion.
Crash!
The boulder dropped through.
-2-rank but nuts;
-Ah, fuck Lashten
-Info) Lashten employees jumped off too trying to get here.
-That's straight obsession.
Lashten chatter stood out—they'd all gotten booted by Atsbel eventually.
"Let's go."
Thud!
Leaping the gap, Hanbit resumed climbing. Yeonwoo swallowed hard, glancing down, then followed.
Ping! Boom!
Arrow and magic dismantled traps nonstop. Once arrows ran out, he just advanced with sword drawn.
Shwick! Whoosh!
Flying arrows, iron maces, harpoons—none touched Hanbit. He dodged with minimal, razor-thin moves.
Yeonwoo, trailing at a distance, asked in bewilderment, "Bro, you memorized all this? Like in a novel?"
"Who memorizes all that? Sense the danger and dodge."
"No way..."
-Danger sense whoa
-Dodge on sight?
-Cat reflexes?
-King cat as expected.
-Would've been doggo, path cleared already.
Playful reactions, but yeah, he'd memorized it all. Or rather, impossible not to.
Kaboom!
Passing the final boulder trap, they reached the path's end.
"Long ass path."
Hanbit grumbled leisurely as he stepped onto the tower top. In the center sat a white-haired old man, back turned, in meditation.
[Wind Swordsman Asla]
"Approach no further."
The low voice hit before Hanbit could move. He just plopped down right there.
"Bro?"
"You sit too."
-Diamond hands ON
-Grumpy af;
-Back view alone screams master.
-Let's rebel.
-Chuuni time.
Eyeing the situation, Yeonwoo sat too.
"Think I passed your test?"
"......"
No reply even to Hanbit. Man, he was a pain.
Asla had severe social anxiety. Force it, and you'd get booted. Took nearly a month of banishments to learn the trick—and ten more cycles before possessing his body.
I know you best.
Possession inherits all the host's thoughts and experiences. Overwhelming chaos at first, but humans adapt. Enough to map every one of hundreds of traps.
Shff—
Hanbit pulled a bottle from inventory and wrapped it in the swordsman's cloth.
Roll—
He rolled it lightly. It spun right to the old man's hand.
"Liquor?"
Just a glance—he knew the contents. Staring at the bottle briefly, the old man said coldly,
"Remove it. I no longer drink."
"Roll it back then."
"......"
-?
-No response why.
-Roll it back like he said?
Silence to Hanbit's words. He pretended not to hear, gazing afar.
Dog won't quit shitting.
Started drinking to beat social phobia. But the addiction? No fixing that. Old man just loved booze. Poor disciple Baldor bore the brunt.
"Not drinking?"
"Hmph. Think this puny liquor breaks my will?"
"You'll drink again by dinner anyway."
"...Ahem."
-lololol
-Busted.
-Sobriety (3 hours)
His fingers still touched the bottle amid the cough. Hanbit rolled another.
Roll—
"Try it. Bet it's new to you."
"I've tasted every liquor in the world. A fledgling can't satisfy me."
"Just try. Hate it? I'll leave."
"......"
His fingers twitched at the persistence. Glancing, he finally grumbled,
"Fine. Dislike it? Begone."
Pop!
Snatching the bottle, he uncorked it.
"Mm."
His back twitched at the aroma. Slowly bringing it to his lips, the cautious first sip slid down.
Gulp—
"...!"
His body jolted. Clutching the bottle, he snatched the other from the floor.
-Old timer?
-Hugging booze bottles hilarious. lol
-???:Remove it.
-???:I no longer drink.
Viewers cracked up at the hypocrisy. Ignoring it all, the old man focused on the liquor.
Gulp—
"...!"
Bigger shudder at the second taste.
Gulp—
Gulp—
He chugged, switching bottles. When they emptied, he turned slightly.
"...Got any more?"
