Rose's Solo Countryside Diary: Meat Madness and Mounting Boredom
So freaking bored.
[Rose (Yu Ji-na)'s Return-to-Farm Diary]
Solo Countryside Life Day 1. Got dumped in the sticks outta nowhere by my blood-related big sis. But Rose is chill, so I'll let that slide. No delivery service, though? That's straight-up over the line. Cheon So-hee unnie hooked me up with tons of meat, so I gotta savor it! Rose looooves beef!
Solo Countryside Life Day 2. Devoured some tasty pork today. Hand-peeled the garlic, dug out the ssamjang from the corner of the kimchi fridge. Cheon So-hee unnie even prepped some bibim noodles for me—total perfection. But she ditched me too... Still, Rose is chill, so I'll understand!
Solo Countryside Life Day 3. Flower sirloin for lunch. Just noticed the meat bags labeled the cuts. Flower sirloin lives up to the price—so damn good! Those bibim noodles from yesterday were too fire, so I had 'em again. Surprisingly pairs great with beef!
……
Solo Countryside Life Day 5. Pork belly today! Meat never gets old, no matter how much you eat. I could live off meat forever! But... I polished off all the fridge-stashed stuff. What now?
……
Solo Countryside Life Day 8. Bulgogi today. Starting and ending the day with meat—pure luxury. Thawed some frozen bulgogi and called it three squares. Tired of just grilling lately, so the seasoned stuff felt refreshingly different.
……
Solo Countryside Life Day 12. More meat. This shit never runs out. "Meat is love," they say, but this level's straight-up obsession. Still, I'm the girl who loves her yanderes. If the love's too much? I'll hit back with even more.
……
Solo Countryside Life Day 15. You know what? Carnivores don't just eat meat. They need nutrients grass provides to fill the gaps. But humans are omnivores. Can't survive on meat alone.
……
Solo Countryside Life Day 20.Fuck, more meat. Too lazy to grill now, so I'm tossing it in ramen. At least it'll make killer broth... Meant to just extract the flavor and toss, but it was too good—ended up eating it.
……
Time to face facts. Meat gets boring if you eat it nonstop. Took down two-thirds of the kimchi fridge stock before realizing... No way I can finish the rest. It's all frozen anyway—no harm leaving it.
I was sprawled on the unnecessarily spacious living room floor, chomping on frozen french fries I'd ordered from online mall 'Lupin' three days back, while staring at the TV.
"Nom nom... Bought the air fryer for a reason—best decision ever."
The world's come a long way. Crisping up frozen stuff without oil? Game-changer. The pension has an oven, but preheating's a hassle. Air fryer's the move.
Anyway, what to do today? Almost a full month here already. Humans adapt, right? No delivery or convenience store nearby sucks, but otherwise? Not bad. Never been the wandering type anyway.
Still, cooped up here's getting stuffy, so I've taken a few walks around the pension... Nothing there. Just nameless crop fields and empty plots. Looks like rice harvest wrapped while I was busy with my meat romance.
After about three kilometers, asphalt road finally shows. Checked the map back home—yep, straight shot hits downtown at three klicks.
My month's been routine: Wake up, breakfast, game on the high-spec PC till lunch. Sleep and meals aside, pure gaming grind. Like my old incel gamer days as a guy, but that fizzled too. Games got boring eventually.
Games are virtual thrills you can't get IRL, right? But every moment as a witch in Triia was an epic adventure. Now my standards are too high for fake stuff.
"Sigh... Wish there was a dungeon to raid. This place is so dull."
Any dungeons nearby? Could grind real farming. Oh wait, not a Hunter—can't enter. Looked it up: Even Awakeners need Hunter registration for dungeons or Gates. Civilians or unlicensed? Illegal. Gotta log at the management office nearby.
"Tch... Guess I'll quit and game... Huh?"
As I gave up and stood with my empty plate, the TV showed a young woman slurping ramen from a massive bowl her size. Camera locked on her, chat window scrolling live comments beside. She bantered happily with viewers. Super happily.
"A streamer, huh..."
Back in my NEET gamer days, I toyed with streaming. How many gigs pay you to play? No future plans? Streamer was peak dream job. But ugly and bad at games—who'd watch? Shelved it as pipe dream.
"Now? I'd slay. Nah, 100% slay. Who hates mukbang from a total babe like me?"
Deep in thought, I started swaying side to side in lotus position unconsciously. Decision made—I grabbed my smartphone and searched "how to start internet streaming."
Clack— Clack— Clack—
Crisp high-heel clicks echoed down the hall. The pure-white marble corridor gleamed under sunlight, stark and barren without a single decoration. The only sound filling it: one woman's hurried footsteps.
Her snow-white hair—whiter than the marble—fluttered in the air. Reaching the massive door at the hall's end, it slid open automatically on both sides, as if awaiting her.
Beyond: much like the hall, but vaster, dominated by a huge heptagonal table at center. Five women already seated at its faces.
As the doors parted, all five gazes turned naturally to her.
"Finally here. White's last again. Professors allowed to be late?"
A sky-blue-haired girl, petite as a middle-schooler, sniped at the entering White like she'd been waiting.
White's peridot eyes gleamed brighter than usual, staring back in disbelief.
"Still acting like a kid after five years. Lady Macaron."
"Hmph! Still growing!"
"Is 'growth spurt' the Prussia family's go-to excuse? Your lil' sis in my class today slept through and whined, 'Growth spurt makin' me sleeepy~'"
"Wh-what?! That Mille-Feuille bitch... Wait'll I see her at the mansion... She's done..!"
"Enough, both of you."
Amid the parent-teacher talk, another woman intervened.
"Macaron, White wasn't late—we're early. White, sit. Rough coming straight after class."
From obsidian-black hair like ground pearls, ocean-blue eyes, laid-back vibe: Chloe Nemesis smiled, offering White a seat.
White sat. Chloe cleared her throat and began.
"Everyone's here, so let's start. Two agenda items..."
"Chloe, are your eyes shit? One seat empty."
"……"
A stern-suited woman with a pipe doused the flow. Mood plummeted instantly. Silence held till the redhead spoke.
"That is on the agenda. Hear it out."
"Red... you too? How can you be so cold?"
"………It's what witches do."
"Your own flesh and blood! And that reaction..?!"
"Okay, both stop."
Five minutes later, Chloe threw up her hands.
"Planned to save the sensitive one for last, but fine. First item: the missing Rose Crimson."
At the agenda reveal, White Crimson's fist clenched on its own.
