Sweet Temptations at the Student Council
I headed to the Business Administration student council room carrying coffee and cake. As I approached the entrance, I spotted a familiar face standing there. Despite the chilly early spring weather, the male student was sweating profusely. He noticed me too and waved his hand.
“Huh? Hyung!”
“Oh? Isn’t that Jundong?”
He was one of the guys from the group I’d been in charge of during the freshman orientation retreat. At first he’d seemed intimidated by me, but after a few drinking sessions and casual chats, he now greeted me warmly.
“It’s been a while, Hyung. How’s your body holding up?”
“Pretty good. What brings you to the student council?”
“I joined the executive committee this time.”
The executive committee. It sounded impressive, but in reality it was where they dragged in easy-to-push-around freshman guys and forced them into labor. Basically an official student council servant position. No wonder Park Jundong was sweating even in the cool spring air. He must have just finished some manual labor and was heading back.
“Did Choi Seungah recommend you join?”
“How did you know? The vice president personally asked me to join. She even said she’d buy me a meal next time. Isn’t this the start of the green light?”
No, it’s the start of slave life. Choi Seungah hadn’t approached him out of personal interest. She’d simply remembered the freshman guys who looked like they could handle physical work during the retreat and recruited them as servants. The promised meal wasn’t a private date either—it was just a group dinner paid for with student council funds. It was common practice not to question using the budget for food, so at least he’d get to eat well.
Come to think of it, this guy had mentioned during the retreat that he liked Choi Seungah. He had no idea he’d been drafted as a slave and was happily spinning fantasies just because she’d invited him. If he’s happy, I guess that’s fine. I offered a silent prayer for his grueling college life and stepped into the student council room.
Inside, seven students were seated, including Vice President Choi Seungah. All of them looked familiar. I didn’t know their names exactly, but I remembered them as the standouts from the retreat. The freshmen recognized me too and bowed in greeting. Choi Seungah spotted me, glanced at the cake in my hands, and called out.
“Guys, the cake is here!”
She rushed over and snatched the cake away in one swift motion.
“You’re happy to see the cake but not even greeting me?”
“Aww, come on. Do we really need to fuss over something so trivial between us? Thanks for the treat!”
Choi Seungah handed out the eight slices of strawberry cake. When I passed around the lattes I’d brought, the freshmen thanked me politely. All except one. She didn’t even acknowledge my presence despite a senior arriving. She sat with her legs crossed, staring at her smartphone as if nothing else mattered.
A female student in tight skinny jeans that accentuated her long legs sat there, flaunting them. Why is she here? Kim Eunha, the top student of the 22nd class and Choi Seungah’s classmate. She wasn’t called the department goddess because of her grades, but because of her looks. Of course, that was last year. This year we have Yoo Soyeon, who’s in a league of her own as a freshman, and Lee Yujin, who transformed her appearance. There might still be people calling Kim Eunha the top beauty, but far fewer than before.
More importantly, why was she in the student council? She hated anything bothersome and usually dumped assignments and note-taking on the guys who followed her around. It was strange to see her sitting here as a member. I looked at Choi Seungah, who just shrugged as if to say not to worry about it.
Whatever. Not my problem. In the past, that kind of attitude had seemed like a cool queen. Now it just looked rude. Even someone as girl-crazy as me had no interest in a woman who blatantly ignored me like that.
“Alright, let’s dig in.”
Choi Seungah cut a small piece with her fork and popped it into her mouth. She let out an exclamation of delight.
“Wow! This is really good.”
“Try it with the coffee. It’ll taste even better.”
“Oh, the coffee smells amazing. Then the coffee too… Whoa!”
Choi Seungah kept exclaiming as she sipped the coffee with her cake. Seeing her reaction, the other freshmen picked up their forks and started eating too. Soon, praises matching Choi Seungah’s filled the room.
“What’s the name of this cafe?”
“Cafe Serer. It’s a new place near the main gate.”
“Oho, Cafe Serer has a nice name. I’ll go with my friends later.”
They’d figured out I’d brought the treats for promotion. Choi Seungah repeated the name and helped spread the word. At that moment, Kim Eunha, who had been pretending to be uninterested while staring at her phone, finally lowered it. Everyone else was raving about how delicious it was, so curiosity must have gotten the better of her. She glanced at the label on the cake box and frowned slightly. I put on my best sales smile.
“It’s good, so why don’t you try a bite?”
“I only drink Starbucks coffee. Well, out of respect for the senior who brought it, I’ll give it a try.”
Her tone was as rude as ever. She acted like it was natural for men to bring her food. I wanted to smash the cake in her face instead of her mouth, but I held back. Kim Eunha uncrossed her legs, sat properly, and picked up a fork. She cut a small piece and placed it in her dainty mouth. Her eyes widened slightly.
“Oh my?”
She took a sip of the coffee this time. As if she couldn’t believe it, she cut another piece. When she bit into the strawberry on top, her eyes grew even wider.
“W-Where did you get this?”
“I told you. It’s the new cafe near the main gate.”
“That’s impossible!”
She was someone who regularly enjoyed coffee and desserts. Unlike the others, she knew exactly how extraordinary the taste was. Her previous haughty demeanor vanished as she moved her fork nonstop. After finishing the strawberry on top, she smiled as if she owned the world. But the moment she realized there was no more cake, she frowned again. Kim Eunha scanned the room with sharp eyes. Most of the others had already eaten more than half. She looked disappointed, probably realizing she couldn’t snatch someone else’s half-eaten slice. Then she spotted one untouched piece—Park Jundong’s cake, which he had just wiped his sweat and picked up his fork to eat.
“You’re not going to eat that, right?”
“Huh? No, I was just about to…”
“You’re not eating it, right?”
“Y-Yes, ma’am.”
Overwhelmed by her presence, Park Jundong obediently handed over the cake. She savored it slowly. Being a slice, it didn’t last long and disappeared quickly. Kim Eunha licked her lips regretfully.
Looks like I’ve secured one regular customer. Rude as she was, she was one of the department’s famous faces and very active on social media. If Kim Eunha started eating here, the promotional effect would be huge. I’d accidentally gained a high-value customer with no manners.
“I’m heading out. Work hard on your student council duties.”
“Yes, senior! Thank you for the treat.”
“It was amazing.”
The freshmen were all sociable and stood up to greet me warmly. Only Kim Eunha remained seated, still savoring her coffee with her usual rude attitude.
“You guys take a break. I’ll go see the senior off.”
Choi Seungah followed me out. Once we were outside the student council room, she grinned mischievously and whispered in my ear.
“How far did you go with Yujin?”
“What?”
“Aww, don’t play dumb. I even found her a room for you. I set everything up so nicely.”
She was referring to giving Lee Yujin the room key during the retreat. We had already gone all the way, but I figured telling the truth would be troublesome, so I lied.
“Nothing happened.”
“No way. I prepared the whole feast and you’re saying nothing happened? Senior, don’t tell me you’re impotent?”
“What the hell?!”
“Well, virgin and virgin, I guess that’s to be expected.”
She said whatever she wanted—impotent, virgin. When I brushed it off, she looked at me carefully.
“Hmm, senior, you seem a bit different. You’re similar to before, but somehow more mature? Your physique has improved a lot too. Did you go train in the mountains while you were away?”
Her words were light, but she was surprisingly perceptive.
“Enough joking around. I came out to thank you for helping during the retreat. If it weren’t for you, senior, something bad could’ve happened. Thank you so much.”
Choi Seungah bowed her head politely. It was fortunate that no major incident occurred—otherwise she would’ve had to take full responsibility. Even though she’d already thanked me over the phone several times, she expressed her gratitude again. Her attitude was completely different from Kim Eunha’s rudeness. Wanting to lighten the slightly stiff atmosphere, I teased her lightly.
“Just words?”
“Then should I repay you with my body?”
“What?”
“I’m confident in using my body. Just call me to your room anytime, senior.”
The way she said “call me to your room” sounded a bit suggestive. Her tone was almost seductive, like she was whispering an invitation.
Is this… a green light? When I hesitated, flustered, Choi Seungah burst out laughing at my expression.
“Pfft, what are you thinking? I meant cleaning. Cleaning. If you call me to your room, I’ll clean it spotlessly for you.”
I’d tried to tease her but ended up being the one teased. Choi Seungah was clearly enjoying my flustered face.
How dare she mess with her senior? I couldn’t just take it, so I counterattacked.
“You remember losing that bet on the bus and promising to grant a wish, right?”
“Huh? Didn’t we settle that with the apple pot?”
“That was something you had to give anyway.”
I’d won the apple pot prize during the treasure hunt. After hearing that the prizes from the hunt had been distributed before the retreat ended, I called her. When I mentioned having the apple pot ticket, she said she understood and left it with Park Naeun. It was probably stuck in Park Naeun’s ear by now.
“…Senior, you know I like you, right?”
“Hmm, I’m not so sure.”
Choi Seungah looked anxious, her eyes darting around as she avoided my gaze. I wiggled my fingers and said,
“Want to do a fountain show in the middle of campus?”
“Hik!”
Her face turned bright red as she recalled doing the fountain show on stage. I approached Choi Seungah and slowly reached my fingers toward her.
“Then, shall we…”
“I-I’m sorry!”
Choi Seungah yelped in panic and bolted away as my hand neared her face.
