The All-Rounder's Revelation
‘Crazy!’ For a split second I was stunned by the sudden, extreme choice. I’d expected a bullet hole in her skull with white brain matter spilling out, but Kim Seung-hye stood there completely unharmed. Swish! A translucent sky-blue ether wrapped around her body.
“With this power…… I can do all kinds of things.”
“Like what……?”
“For example……”
Kim Seung-hye pointed her palm at a target a hundred meters away. Whoosh! An ether sphere shot forward and struck the target. Boom! The explosion was bigger than a grenade, leaving a massive crater where the target had stood.
“……”
I lost my words for a moment. I’d thought she was a supporter, yet here she was—a tanker who could convert incoming damage into ether and wield it offensively.
“I-I can do more than just attack! I can heal with this power too!” Kim Seung-hye said hurriedly.
“You can even heal……?”
“Yes!”
“You definitely belong on Bravo Team.”
Her ability was new to me, and I found myself genuinely looking forward to what she could become. A tanker who could also deal solid damage and provide healing—an all-rounder that rare had every chance of reaching the very top if nurtured properly. Judging by the fact that I didn’t recognize her, she must have died during the mass transfer incident, just like Jung Ho-bin.
“I can do that much too, you know?” Ra Si-hyun snapped, her voice dripping with jealousy.
“Oh? Show me.”
“Like this.”
Ra Si-hyun conjured a fireball and hurled it at the target beside the crater Kim Seung-hye had created. Boom!Whoosh! A thunderous blast erupted, and the entire area burst into flames.
“See? I can do it too.”
“Can you take a bullet to the head and walk it off?”
“That’s……”
“N-no, I can’t.”
“Does it even matter? When would I ever get shot in the head anyway!”
“So you can’t.”
“Ugh!”
Ra Si-hyun trembled with frustration. I cut in coldly.
“Stop getting in everyone’s way and focus on your own training.”
“Getting in the way? Did you just call me a nuisance?”
“I already told you—don’t interfere.”
“I-I’m sorry.”
Ra Si-hyun bowed her head deeply. I added one more thing.
“Want some advice? If you don’t want to be hated for the rest of your life, start by looking at yourself. Keep acting like this and the only people left around you will be trash.”
“……”
She slowly lifted her head, eyes sharp.
“What if there was nothing but trash around me to begin with?”
“What’s that supposed to mean?”
“Nothing. Forget it.”
“……”
“Go back to what you were doing. I won’t bother you anymore.”
Ra Si-hyun spun on her heel, grabbed her rifle, and started firing at the targets. Bang! Bang! Every round punched clean through the center.
After firearms training we returned to the classroom and learned how to log into Hunter Link, plus how to browse the boards without actually connecting. The Special Forces Training Center’s speed was impressive—they were already teaching us tips that had only been posted a few days ago. Thanks to that, I finally got some uninterrupted time on the boards after dinner.
Free time was guaranteed in the evenings unless there was special instruction. Everyone was busy in their own corners of the barracks.
“Everyone doing all right? It’s been what, eight hours? I just finished training and dinner.”
Jung Ho-bin, ever the idol, was already on his phone chatting with fans.
“Oh?”
“That’s new.”
“Want to add each other?”
Oh Tae-kwon, Park Seok-ho, and Kim Seung-hye were excitedly comparing their Hunter Link experiences. Ra Si-hyun lay on her cot with her eyes closed, but she wasn’t sleeping—she looked lost in thought.
The familiar sight of the training center brought back memories of my rookie days. I snorted softly, then shook my head. This wasn’t the time for nostalgia. A mass transfer could happen at any moment.
I opened Hunter Link and checked the reactions to my post.
The boards were in chaos. Understandable—without the 10-star rank, my warning wouldn’t carry much weight. Trust had to be earned, and right now the only thing that mattered was whether the government would act.
I was about to close the app when a flood of DMs arrived.
I replied.
Choi Yoo-ra fired back instantly.
It was almost funny talking to someone who took my own post so seriously.
We went back and forth for nearly thirty minutes.
She kept messaging, but I turned off notifications and didn’t open them. I sighed. My head was already killing me without this.
‘Public opinion……’
I closed Hunter Link and checked domestic news on my phone. The same heated debate was raging everywhere. Politicians were tearing into each other over my rank and the warning, while the President’s office and the Defense Strategy Department stayed completely silent.
‘They’re probably still deliberating. Must be giving them a headache.’
I understood their caution. Mobilizing the military and hunters wasn’t a simple decision, especially on unverified information. Minister Ahn was probably feeling the pressure most of all.
‘One minute at a time and they’re wasting so much of it. I need to do something.’
I closed the phone, sensing that the moment for decisive action had arrived.
* * *
Late at night, Minister Ahn sat at his desk, still not having gone home, smoking one cigarette after another. The ashtray was piled high with butts and the office was thick with smoke. He had clearly been chain-smoking for hours.
“Can’t do this, can’t do that…… *sigh*.”
His voice was heavy with frustration. The powerful were busy with political infighting, the President’s office was paralyzed by approval ratings, and the hunters on Hunter Link were only watching each other. If he moved troops and hunters prematurely, his already precarious position would collapse. If he was wrong, every ounce of blame would fall on him—and the fallout could shake the entire country. Hostile forces were already circling, waiting for any sign of weakness.
“What should I do…… how……”
Minister Ahn buried his face in his hands, feeling decades older in a single night. His hair had gone noticeably grayer in recent weeks.
‘I need evidence. Something solid to justify a decision.’
Just then—ding!
A Hunter Link notification appeared before his eyes.
