Ha-neul's Scamming Aunt and the YPS Coin Launch
In the president's office, Jinseong and Jeong Ha-neul sat facing each other on the sofa.
"Here's your coffee."
"Thank you."
Secretary Han Jiyu brought over two cups of black coffee.
"What brings you here?"
"Well... lately... I've had a few upsetting things going on."
"Upsetting things?"
"Yes..."
Jeong Ha-neul nodded heavily.
"Sigh... The thing is, I thought I'd paid off all my debts, but last night, my aunt showed up at my place demanding I pay back 200 million won from my father's debt. She said she wouldn't let it slide if I didn't."
Her aunt had thrown a fit, insisting on the principal plus interest totaling 200 million won, then stormed off.
"Haa... And then... there are these weird people stressing me out. After the Halmae Tteok CF ad, some 'friend of my dad's' came by saying his business was in trouble and asking to borrow money. Then there was this total stranger claiming to be a distant cousin who threatened to kill himself if I didn't cover his hospital bills."
Others had good money-making opportunities or just wanted her to sign up for insurance. Some pitched joint business ventures with 'great items.' Ever since gaining fame, all sorts of oddballs had been swarming her.
"I've even got a creepy stalker now. This guy with glasses keeps lurking around my place. I'm too scared to go out alone, so I'm barely making it to work with the manager's help."
Jeong Ha-neul was currently living in a studio apartment complex. She desperately wanted to move somewhere safer, but her meager bank balance had forced her to put it off.
"Haa..."
She let out a frustrated sigh.
"Ha-neul, I'm sorry."
"Huh? Why are you apologizing, President? You have nothing to apologize for."
"No, it's partly my fault. As the company president, I should have looked after you better, but I just signed the contract and ignored you after that. I'm truly sorry."
He bowed his head in apology.
Jeong Ha-neul was utterly flustered by Jinseong's apology. She didn't think he had done anything wrong at all. In fact, she was nothing but grateful to him. Thanks to Jinseong, she'd discovered her acting talent and stepped onto the path of an actress. Thanks to him, she'd shot the CF ad and gained fame. Thanks to him, she'd escaped the suffocating loans. Thanks to him, her little sister Sua had found her own path and her face had brightened beyond recognition. The manager was great, the kind acting coach was wonderful, and the warm Mi-yeon unnie was just too good to be true.
"Ha-neul, from now on, if you have any problems or worries that are hard to handle, tell me or the manager right away. We'll take care of it."
"Got it."
"First off, we'll handle the housing issue. I'll provide you with company dorms."
"Pardon?"
Jeong Ha-neul was stunned at first.
"For real?"
Her surprise turned to joy.
"I'm sorry to impose like this..."
Her joy shifted to guilt.
"No need to apologize. Think of it as an investment. I have no doubt you'll become a top actress someday and keep this company afloat."
Jinseong gave her a gentle smile.
"Start living in the dorms today. Contact a moving company for your stuff, and if you're short on moving costs, just let me know. The company will cover it."
"President, thank you. Thank you so much."
Jinseong planned to give Jeong Ha-neul one of the officetels as dorm housing. He'd recently bought five, and they'd all found owners.
"And... about your aunt... I'll help with that too. I'd like to meet her in person and talk. Can you set it up?"
"That should be fine..."
After soothing Jeong Ha-neul, he arranged the meeting with her aunt.
At a nearby café.
He met the woman called "Auntie."
Trash.
Her disposition was pure vile scum, nothing more or less. She was a devil among devils, born with malice in her veins.
Jeong Mi-ja (40)
[Persuasion (S)], [Exploitation (S)], [Charm (S)]
[Villain, Egoist, Fraud, Pimp, Bar]
A den of con artistry.
Jeong Mi-ja smirked lewdly.
Sigh...
Jinseong sighed inwardly. Her ideology and intentions were so pathetic they bordered on pitiful.
"I heard Ha-neul's father borrowed 200 million won from you. Is that right?"
"No, it was originally 300 million. I knocked off 100 million for you."
"I see."
It was absurd, blocking his nose in disbelief. He was momentarily speechless at Jeong Mi-ja's brazen inner thoughts.
"Do you have any proof of the debt?"
"Of course. Right here."
Jeong Mi-ja pulled documents from her bag. It was an IOU claiming she'd lent money to Ha-neul's father. But there was a problem—it wasn't a legitimate contract. It was a forged illegal document.
"Young President, forget the debt talk. How about you and I discuss some business alone? I can help you make a killing."
"No thanks."
Jinseong refused flatly. He had zero interest in partnering with this wicked woman for dirty money.
"Sue us."
He dropped the line and stood up. Further talk was pointless.
"Pardon? What did you just say?"
"If you want your loaned money back, sue."
Jinseong grabbed Ha-neul's hand.
"Don't ever show up in front of Ha-neul again."
He led Ha-neul out of the café. Jeong Mi-ja called after him desperately, but he didn't look back.
"Ha-neul, try not to get involved with your aunt anymore."
"Huh?"
"That IOU's fake. She's forged it to extort money from you. Ugly scheme."
"......"
"If the court orders 200 million won, pay it then. Until a ruling, don't give her a dime."
"......"
The aunt chased after them, throwing a fit, but he treated her like she was invisible.
The next morning.
"President, thank you so much."
Jeong Ha-neul bowed deeply.
"For the dorms... and the aunt issue... thank you from the bottom of my heart. Truly."
She loved the dorms. Moving from a cramped, dim studio to a spacious, sunny officetel felt amazing. She'd confirmed through acquaintances that her aunt had indeed tried to scam her.
"President, I'll work so hard. I'll make it big and repay your kindness tenfold."
"Good."
Jinseong smiled kindly. Ha-neul blushed and averted her gaze.
[Favorability: 95]
"......"
Jinseong scratched his cheek with his index finger.
"......"
He unconsciously scanned her figure.
"......"
It was an incredibly delicious body. Her slender frame and milky skin were irresistibly alluring.
These days, Jinseong enjoyed weekend dates with his girlfriends. This week, it was a picnic with Mi-yeon.
Affection Points: 4010
Chatting with Mi-yeon had bumped his affection points by 30, from 3980 to 4010. The flower buds increased from 3 to 4. Four harvestable items. Ready in about 5 hours.
Wonder what it'll be.
He was thrilled about the upcoming items, like a kid awaiting Christmas gifts.
Hope it's good stuff.
He stared at the affection flower for a while.
"President."
Oh Seok-jeong, the IT director, arrived. Dark circles hung under his eyes. His once glossy skin had long lost its luster.
Oh had been maniacally immersed in building the coin exchange. He'd ditched going home, minimized sleep, used a cot in his office for rest, ate at the basement cafeteria, and showered in the YSP gym bathrooms on the second floor.
"President, we've finally set up the Bitcoin exchange."
The fruits of his immersion.
"Already? I figured it'd take at least a month."
"We've only finished the basic framework. Details still need work."
They headed to the seventh floor, the IT team office.
Whoa?!
Jinseong recoiled in shock. Five zombies(?) occupied the office. Including Director Oh, that made six. They looked wrecked: matted hair, bloodshot half-open eyes, deep dark circles, sallow skin.
"Search 'Y Coin' or 'YPS Coin' online, and our exchange site pops up."
"YPS Coin supports PC and mobile versions. Currently Korean only, but we'll add English, Japanese, and Chinese later."
He checked the exchange.
"Whoa! You guys nailed it!"
It was user-friendly, supremely simple, with excellent UI and approachable design.
"Everyone, great job. Take four days off. Rest up at home and come back refreshed."
