The Luxurious Bedroom
After confirming no zombies were around, Xiao Yi approached the door to the master bedroom.
The master bedroom door was completely different from the others—crafted from solid steel, it looked incredibly sturdy. Xiao Yi pushed at it with his hand, but it didn't budge an inch.
The door was locked, which was good news and bad news for Xiao Yi. Good because it meant the inside probably hadn't been breached by zombies. Bad because getting in would be a real hassle.
This master door was a pure steel security door. And there was no keyhole on the lock—meaning it couldn't be opened with a key. Xiao Yi examined the lock and spotted a device that glowed when his hand approached.
Pressing his thumb to it triggered a warning from the door: “Fingerprint mismatch. Please try again… Three failed attempts will activate the alarm…”
“Xiao! That’s a fingerprint lock. Only someone whose print is registered can open it—yours won’t work.”
Stephanie’s voice came through the intercom: “Don’t try anymore. I’m already getting an alarm alert here…”
“Got it!” Xiao Yi replied into the intercom, then asked, “Stephanie, who all has access to this bedroom?”
“The owner of the house, of course. Even VIP guests don’t get in. Female stars and supermodels invited by the owner can enter too, but only if they’re escorted.”
Her voice crackled back through the speaker.
“I see…”
Xiao Yi frowned, then suddenly turned to the small room behind him. It faced the master bedroom door directly. From the furnishings, it looked like the maid’s quarters. Being right opposite the master door meant she was likely the owner’s personal attendant.
If anyone besides the manor’s owner had their fingerprint registered, it had to be his personal maid!
Xiao Yi’s eyes lit up. He strode into the small room and grabbed the maid’s arm.
She’d been killed after turning, so her flesh was rotting but not too badly—her arm and fingers were mummified, like a dried corpse.
Xiao Yi drew his Mo Dao and hacked off the arm. With a mental shrug—worth a shot—he pressed the maid’s shriveled thumb to the security panel.
Beep! A click echoed, and the door cracked open slightly.
It worked!
The damn security door had actually opened!
“Xiao! You’re a genius! How did you figure that out? Amazing!” Stephanie’s excited voice burst from the intercom.
Gripping his Mo Dao tightly, Xiao Yi nudged the door open with his foot.
Just as expected—spotless and empty, no zombies or people inside.
“Xiao! My place has one of these security doors too. Once you’re in, check the back of the door for a reset panel. These have a reprogramming device inside. Register your fingerprint, and you won’t need this hassle again.”
Following her instructions, Xiao Yi found a locked panel on the door’s interior. He ripped it open with his chainsaw, revealing a keypad device.
Guided by Stephanie over the intercom, he reset the system—deleting all other prints and registering only his own.
With that done, Xiao Yi finally took in the bedroom.
Without power, he relied on the faint light filtering through the glass windows.
It was a lavish, spacious chamber. A soaring golden dome ceiling arched overhead like a starry vault, from which dangled an opulent chandelier of gold and crystal.
The walls were adorned with erotic art of nude women—each a stunning beauty with a killer figure. Most were famous Hollywood stars or supermodels of the era.
A priceless Persian rug blanketed the floor, so plush and soft underfoot it felt like sinking into clouds.
The massive central bed and nightstands were carved from rare rosewood, the bed neatly made with a fluffy down comforter.
Xiao Yi had never seen such extravagant luxury! The bedroom he’d woken up in upon arriving in this world was a filthy stall by comparison.
Beyond the bedroom lay a spacious, pristine en-suite bathroom.
In 1993, luxuries like flush toilets, water heaters, and massage tubs weren’t for the average Joe. But this bathroom had all that—and air conditioning, a waterbed, massage chair, wet-dry separator, the works.
If he could get power and water running to the master suite…
Xiao Yi imagined it: a life of pure indulgence. Just taking a bath would be bliss. And sharing it with a goddess like Stephanie Seymour? Savoring apocalyptic romance in this palace of a bathroom, fucking passionately amid the steam… then tumbling onto that silken bed to ravage each other’s bodies in wild abandon.
Such pleasures would’ve been unthinkable in his past life.
But now…
Xiao Yi eyed the opulent bedroom, a hungry stir rising within him.
