Survivors, Superstar Couple
“There are other survivors! And there's a woman!” A spark of excitement flashed in Xiao Yi's eyes as he swallowed hard, unable to help himself!
No matter what, this at least proved that in this apocalypse, he wasn't the only one left alive. Even with enough food and water to survive, Xiao Yi figured he couldn't endure this loneliness forever—he'd go mad eventually.
Following the sound, Xiao Yi rushed to the window and peered outside.
An SUV had smashed through the iron gate in front of his villa, belching white smoke with a stuttering “thud-thud-thud...” The zombies nearby went berserk at the noise, swarming the vehicle with clawing frenzy.
These zombies weren't fast—some were even clumsy—but their sheer numbers made Xiao Yi realize that getting trapped in a horde would spell death even for a special forces soldier!
Through the windshield, he could make out the blurry figures of a man and a woman inside. They looked terrified, cowering in panic.
Should he help them?
Xiao Yi frowned at the growing zombie crowd around the SUV. Drawn by the crash, hundreds were already piling up outside the wrought-iron gate.
Luckily, this seemed to be a suburban town—scattered villas amid vast green lawns. So the zombies weren't overwhelmingly dense. Even if every one nearby was lured over, it might only be a few hundred, maybe a thousand at most.
Xiao Yi didn't dare imagine what would happen if the zombie virus hit his old world: packed cities, teeming populations—a catastrophe beyond horror.
This made him secretly grateful.
The path from his house to the SUV was clear for now, blocked by the iron fence wall—no zombies yet.
If he went to help right away, it should be safe enough.
But the gate was already bent from the crash. Zombies outside could force their way into the yard any moment!
And these two were unknowns. Once inside, they'd share his food and water—and might even threaten him.
Save them?
Or... don't?
As Xiao Yi pondered with a furrowed brow, the man in the SUV popped the sunroof and hauled the woman out onto the roof.
The zombies below went wild at the sight of live flesh, like flies to rot, lunging desperately at the vehicle.
Thankfully, the SUV was tall enough; the clumsy undead couldn't climb up quickly. Even the more agile ones that made it were yanked back by their fellows.
“Grrraaahhh~~~”
“Urrghhh!~~~”
“Rooaaar~~~ roooaaar~~~”
“Ah!! AHHH!!!” The woman shrieked at the claws reaching from below, while the man roared hysterically, swinging his axe wildly.
The zombies' bodies seemed fragile—a firefighter's axe cleaved off huge chunks with ease. But only headshots stopped them; the rest kept clawing fearlessly, ignoring the blade.
“Tom! We have to get out of here! More zombies are coming!”
The woman screamed from atop the SUV, scrambling back as she flailed a wooden stick wildly, shouting in panic at the man hacking away.
That was when Xiao Yi got a clear look at her face.
“Nicole Kidman!” Xiao Yi stared in stunned disbelief at the stunning blonde with a killer figure shrieking in terror.
How could he not recognize this world-class star? Oscar-winning Best Actress, an international superstar. Even among global actresses, Nicole ranked at the absolute top!
Just before transmigrating, he'd watched her in Aquaman online—her regal, elegant Queen Atlanna still fresh in his mind. This ageless goddess, even in her forties, remained captivating.
And now, here she was before him—looking even younger and more radiant than on screen!
1993...
By this timeline, she was only 26, at the peak of her vitality and allure.
And the panting man slaughtering zombies? Xiao Yi knew without asking.
Tom Cruise!
Star of Mission: Impossible.
World-class actor.
Golden Globe Best Actor.
Nicole's newlywed husband, Tom!
A superstar power couple!
Before Xiao Yi could recover from the shock, Tom Cruise had leaped from the SUV roof into the yard with Nicole Kidman in tow, sprinting toward Xiao Yi's house.
Outside, the frenzied zombies battered the shaky iron gate, squeezing through gaps between it and the SUV.
“Anyone there?! Open up!! Help!! Save us!!”
Bang-bang-bang~~~
“Is anyone home?! Open the door!”
Thud! Thud!
Urgent pounding and axe blows echoed from the door!
Xiao Yi's hand froze midway to the doorknob.
The iron gate outside could collapse under the zombie swarm any second. Once they flooded the yard, this pair was done for—overwhelmed and torn apart.
Security in '90s America wasn't great, so every house had solid defenses. This place's ground-floor doors and windows were barred with theft-proof iron grilles—even the door was heavy steel.
If Xiao Yi didn't let them in, they were dead for sure!
Save them?
Or... don't?
