The First Viewer's Application (1)
I turned on the broadcast and sat in a proper posture, waiting for the viewers to come in.
On the first broadcast, I sat alone like that for tens of minutes. Since there was no one listening, I couldn't even open my mouth.
But this time, unlike last time, viewers were coming in relatively quickly.
Viewer Count: 104
It even broke 100.
It hadn't been long since I turned on the broadcast, why were they so fast? It was as if they were waiting for me to come.
So the number of viewers increased rapidly, and the chat window started flying up.
A smile formed on my face at the chats welcoming me in various ways. Just watching made me feel good.
I had tasted this feeling often even in the days when I was working hard as the Pope.
Every time I went to greet the people who came to see me at our church's grand cathedral 'Taeyang-cheong', I felt that pride and satisfaction.
A special feeling I hadn't experienced anywhere else came back to me.
"Hello. Everyone, welcome."
I opened my mouth with the corners of my mouth that had curled up, without forcing it. I bowed respectfully all the way to my waist.
This was nothing special. It was basic etiquette for the people who came to see me.
"How have you all been?"
Since I hadn't broadcast for three days, I first asked for a simple greeting. Then the viewers went wild.
But no one answered my question properly.
Questions that didn't match the context, sudden praises, just laughing people. The atmosphere was just saying whatever they wanted.
And unlike the first broadcast, the chat window was too fast. It was because there were more people.
I checked how many had entered and was startled.
Viewer Count: 1275
'Already?'
In the time I was reading the chat, it broke 1000. It was abnormal speed.
"You are watching a whopping 1,200 people. How did you know and come to find me?"
The mechanical voice that flowed out with a light 'ting' sound released my intention.
ChugisikHagoSipda donated 1,000 won
"Ah, I see."
ChugisikHagoSipda.
My first viewer and donator. And a formal layperson of our church and a 'blessing holder'.
Without any request, perhaps because he felt responsible, he even promoted it.
A fine mind that helps others without compensation. A person I liked.
"Thank you. You are giving a great help."
The viewers I needed were people like ChugisikHagoSipda.
Not someone who got interested because of various issues, but a viewer who looks at me alone. I had to gradually increase such people.
"ChugisikHagoSipda, when our church settles in Korea later, I will grant you the position of priest."
It wasn't a public notice. It was a chance for position promotion granted directly by the Pope.
I thought they would be envious or surprised, but for some reason, the reactions weren't satisfying.
I closed my mouth for a moment and checked the chat window.
I couldn't read the chat properly because it was flying too fast, but I could roughly gauge the atmosphere. The timely donation helped judge it.
Bireopbarabap donated 1,000 won
"Um, sorry. I'll cancel what I said earlier. Instead, I'll give you qualification to take the priest promotion exam."
What kind of things was he doing that the public sentiment was this bad? I would have to ask Seoyun later.
Thanks to the priest appointment happening, the viewers who were just saying what they wanted started focusing on me.
The atmosphere was cheerful. Our ChugisikHagoSipda had sacrificed himself to save the broadcast.
'Thank you.'
I thanked the viewer, a job-seeking viewer I didn't know face to face, inwardly, and opened my mouth again.
"Everyone, before broadcasting, I have a few things to tell you. For those who couldn't watch last broadcast, it will be good news."
I hadn't just been playing during the three days of rest. I was busy with household chores, but I was also progressing on streaming-related matters.
"First, I adjusted the system for donating to join the church. To prevent wasting money, I blocked donations of 1,000 won or less for now."
As I continued, I moved my hand to display text on the broadcast screen.
Layperson qualification = 500,000 won
When I showed the text, the viewers were surprised.
As expected, the reactions were mostly rejection.
There was criticism that I was crazy about money, but it was quickly deleted. It was the work of a chat manager who was a warrior from another world.
"Please refrain from cursing. My husband is watching."
My words filled the chat window with playful chats like 'heck' and 'lol'. Everyone seemed to think it was a joke. There was even sincerity mixed in.
It was better to take it as a joke. Sometimes ignorance is bliss.
"Anyway, I didn't raise the price because I was crazy about money. The money donated to become a layperson will be donated entirely for those who are struggling."
This was the first step in building fame: image making. The intention was to gain positive reputation through good deeds.
Of course, I really wanted to help those who were struggling. So it wasn't hypocrisy. The goddess I serve had set the law that way.
"Rest assured. There are other options for viewers who find 500,000 won burdensome."
I introduced a relatively cheaper alternative.
"Actually, from today, you can 'subscribe' to my broadcast. I will also give layperson qualification to those who have subscribed for more than six months."
The subscription concept, regular donation, was a system allowed only for partner streamers on Tribe.
As a beginner doing my second broadcast, I hadn't even thought about it, but Tribe had contacted me first. They asked to make a partner contract.
It seemed they judged that I had to be firmly held to prevent me from moving to another platform.
"Of course, money earned from subscriptions will also be donated. Isn't this reasonable consumption?"
The reactions to the new joining method were divided in the chat.
Viewers of our church who had negative opinions and those who had already become believers in their hearts. The opinions of both sides were in conflict.
Exactly, the former was slightly more. It was natural. Belief doesn't sprout easily, so it's valuable.
There was no way to rapidly grow the faith of those who were lukewarm.
Even if the goddess who descended to the ground personally blessed in front of my eyes, people who don't believe won't believe. It was an experience from the other world.
'I have to change all my thoughts.'
The mission I had as the Pope was to turn the hearts of people who were skeptical of the goddess and the church.
It wasn't difficult. With appropriate miracles and reasonable stories. With just those two, I could do anything.
I just wouldn't force belief. If I did, it would only backfire.
"Whether to join or not is up to you. Religious freedom is also stated in the Korean constitution. The goddess is a person with thorough legal consciousness and respects the laws of the land."
I finished speaking and glanced at the viewer count.
Viewer Count: 10675
I had already surpassed 10,000. And it was continuously increasing in real time. If this pace continued, it would rise vertically to even higher places.
"Then, let's start the main broadcast. Today, I would like to have a deep Q&A with you all. I will thoroughly answer all your questions."
Q&A. The content viewers wanted most. It had only been a week, and so many things had happened.
"Instead, I will only receive questions through donations. If I receive from everyone, the chat window will get too heated."
I subtly removed the restriction that I had set for donations of 1,000 won or less.
Even if they donated more and asked questions, the answers wouldn't change, but my pocket would feel better. Then I could buy more delicious snacks for Erina and Evaila.
Of course, I didn't have high expectations. Who would pay a large sum just for one question.
That's when I was thinking that.
Havant donated 100,000 won
"You came, President."
While resting, I watched other streamers' broadcasts, and when people donated a lot, they called them President. No reason not to follow.
The chat window rising quickly. Among them, one viewer's chat hit my heart.
It was a word that accurately grasped my current feelings. The reason I started as a streamer was ultimately for my precious daughters and youngest son.
"Havant, thank you for 100,000 won. Thanks to you, my children can eat delicious food and wear warm clothes."
Last time, the twins suddenly intruded and I had to turn off the broadcast urgently, but since it was already on, there was no need to hide it.
"To be honest, it's not just the twin daughters I saw last time. I also have a son who hasn't even turned one year old yet."
With a straightforward confession, the viewers started to stir. They looked surprised, as if they hadn't expected three kids.
It would be awkward to be surprised now. There was one more fact to reveal.
"By the way, I am 36 years old in Korean age."
This time it became even more noisy than before.
I watched the chat window that had heated up and narrowed my eyes. There was a very irritating expression.
'Ajumma...?'
Everything else was fine, but I couldn't stand this. I checked to remember the nickname.
'It was ChugisikHagoSipda.'
"......"
I knew why I was being treated poorly by other viewers. I tapped the desk with my fingers for a moment, then pointed my finger at the webcam.
"From today on, I will excommunicate those who call me ajumma."
It wasn't anger, but a measure to establish the church's discipline.
