Munchkin Maid's Subspace Pocket
Majestic background music swells, and the chilling night air brushes across my entire body.
Red Wave
The vampires, having failed their previous assault on the Forward Base, have decided to launch a proper siege war.
Defend the Forward Base until dawn breaks.
The trial on Floor 4 has the same main objective as Floor 3. That means it's another problem I can solve with my Maid rampage. The difference? The enemies have come prepared with siege weapons this time.
For any potential viewers who might be watching, I gave a polite bow. The signature Maid's Grace curtsy.
"Hello. I'm Han Yuyeon."
Next, I demonstrated the Maid's Grace tactical reload. Click. Click. I deliberately emptied all the magazines just to show this off.
Once reloaded, I struck various Maid tactical shooting poses.
"Everyone. You've probably figured it out by now."
"I think no one's left who doesn't understand what this shotgun means."
Aaah. So cool. The shotgun says, hug me. And so the maid complies, hugging it tightly.
"I hugged you..."
Maid's Shotgun (S) - Ignores 80% of defense.
How simple is that description? A true prodigy doesn't bore with lengthy spec dumps. Thinking about how hard it was to craft another S-grade made my head hurt. You'll definitely become EX-grade someday, Shotgun-sama. I believe in you, Shotgun-sama—you won't betray me.
"Everyone. Before we proceed to Floor 4, I have an important broadcast announcement."
"When I wield this shotgun, things might get a bit intense. If there are any children watching, please have a guardian supervise... um, actually, just avoid watching altogether."
Swoosh. I quickly pulled extra ammo from my Maid's Subspace Pocket.
Ammo retrieved.
"Anyway, Floor 4's goal is the same as Floor 3: Defend the Serbein Forward Base. But the enemies are bringing siege weapons too."
I dashed toward the distant horde of ghouls, channeling wind magic for acceleration and Aura Core leg reinforcement to the max.
The shotgun is the perfect weapon. If there's any weapon in the world that suits a maid best, it's the shotgun. The reason is simple.
"Hello. I'm Han Yuyeon."
"Keehick!"
Great for greeting up close and immediately going into combat afterward. Kang—!!! With a vicious whoosh, the shotgun roared flames, shredding the ghouls in front.
Precisely their lower halves remained. Every time the muzzle flashed, the horde shredded in a cone shape. If S-grade has this much power, what must EX-grade be like? I'll find out someday, I believe.
"Keehiiik...!"
Overwhelmed by the shotgun's might, the ghouls chose retreat. I hurriedly chased, pulling the trigger on the fleeing ghouls.
Boom. Boom. Boom. Even as ammo ran out, the ghouls kept retreating, refusing communication. Leisurely, I pulled fresh ammo from my Maid's Subspace Pocket and reloaded.
Reload complete.
After loading seven rounds, ting! I flicked the last one into the air, caught it, and tactically reloaded. Oops. While reloading, the ghouls fled far away. I dashed after them again.
"Let's communicate..."
Boom. Boom. Boom. Each trigger pull floods me with immense joy. You're happy too, right Shotgun-sama? I'm happy too.
Enhance Maid's Shotgun (S)? (Success rate: 0.1%)
Right now? Got it.
"......"
No good. I hesitated for a second. My instincts screamed that pressing now would fail. Failure means enduring that hellish upgrade process again. No way. I can't let my bond with Shotgun-sama end like this. I'll build more affinity and upgrade when it feels right. Holding it longer might tempt me to hit the button anyway, so I reluctantly stored it in my subspace.
My hands felt empty, and so did my heart.
"Hing hing hing."
Guardian of the Sword Realm slaps your hand.
I collapsed to the ground and sobbed. I should've upgraded the moment it felt right without hesitating. This sense of loss was indescribable. To explain: the Tower is a scammer. Hm. Actually, that's explainable, isn't it? Nothing's impossible in this world after all. Another enlightenment gained.
By the time I snapped out of it, all the ghouls had fled far away.
"Gasp."
For times like this, I have just the thing. I hurriedly pulled a sniper rifle from my subspace. Maid's Grace tactical sniper mode. I erected ice supports with ice magic and aimed at the distant ghouls.
"......"
Dilemma. I fidgeted my finger on the trigger and pondered.
Hm. Exactly.
"This doesn't feel right."
"Unilaterally attacking from this far... it's not polite."
I stored the sniper rifle back in my subspace. While pondering how to be polite, I recalled a book from my past life.
"!"
Shop search. Apparently, this is great for communicating with ghouls. Wonder if the shop sells it.
It does! Thank you. I pulled the chainsaw from my Maid's Subspace Pocket.
Vreeeeeng—!! The satisfying motor sound unleashed my artistic soul. Music. Heavy metal. For grace, add some classical too.
I dashed forward, playing classical heavy metal in my mind, swinging the chainsaw. Instantly, the ghouls became chunks of ghoul.
"Let's communicate."
"Kie/eeek!"
"Kuee/eeek!"
No more? I glanced around.
Ah, siege weapons. I scattered mana everywhere, focusing on detection. Found an unusual energy signature. Time for Maid-style Maid's Grace sprint.
Soon I encountered the siege weapon: a Cursed Ghoul. Pre-classified as a 'suicide monster.'
"Hello, I'm Han Yuyeon."
"Cursed Ghouls. Are you going to self-destruct?"
"Uh... oo... err..."
"I see. Sorry, but I can't forgive those who threaten humanity."
Since they're suicide monsters, responding with explosions is polite, right? Yeah, but self-destruction is a bit much. A maid's body belongs to her master, so I must cherish mine. A way to be polite to the Cursed Ghouls while securing my safety... First, I stored the chainsaw, then bought something from the shop.
I pulled a grenade from my Maid's Subspace Pocket and performed a Maid's Grace throw. To amplify the blast and ensure safety, I controlled the space with wind magic. Then, bang—!! A whoosh accompanied the primary explosion from the Cursed Ghouls' torsos, triggering secondary, tertiary, and quaternary blasts that filled the world with thunderous roars.
Hm. This much noise might worry the folks at the Forward Base. I maxed out wind magic to contain the sound here. Shouldn't reach the base now. With sound controlled, I kept hurling grenades.
Bang. Bang. Bang. Bang. It felt just like hearing my upgrade failure sounds—dizzying. Or maybe from spinning. Still, I was happy. Protecting humanity's peace is so rewarding.
"I hope you can all live your daily lives in peace."
I bid farewell to the Cursed Ghouls, not even a scrap of flesh left. Then, for any viewers watching my broadcast, I gave a broadcast greeting.
"I'm thinking of setting a broadcast title. Might as well do it properly."
Even if I set one, the Tower probably won't reflect it. Still, I want to. To leave a trace that I'm communicating with Earth's humanity.
What would be good? I closed my eyes and pondered, then a fitting title came to mind.
"When you watch my broadcast, you won't need to worry about a thing. I'll always be happy, always victorious. So..."
Hoping viewers get even a bit of joy and happiness from this.
"How about Munchkin Maid's Subspace Pocket for the broadcast title? See you next time."
I cleared Floor 4 without issue. A perfectly graceful victory.
