A Man and Woman Who Gain Magic Power from Lewd Acts #5
A Man and Woman Who Gain Magic Power from Lewd Acts #5
Getting such a pure, heartfelt congratulations was surprisingly embarrassing.
I fiddled with my horns for a moment, then walked into the guild building with Rebecca.
Today, as usual, Wendy was working at the guild's reception desk.
"Good morning."
"Good morning to you too, Luke. Oh? Is that a new adventurer behind you?"
Wendy, who had returned my greeting, tilted her head as she spotted Rebecca standing behind me.
She seemed to be wondering why the two of us had shown up together.
"You're Rebecca, right? The one who became an adventurer a couple of days ago and took on the herb collection quest."
"That's right."
"I received the report that your request was completed. Why are you two together?"
Rebecca lifted a finger and pointed at me.
"I formed a fixed party with this horned guy. We decided to stick together for a month."
"A f-f-f-fixed party...?"
"Yeah. Is there a problem?"
Wendy's face filled with utter shock.
"No! Of course there's no problem at all! Fixed parties are something we at Gjallarhorn actively encourage! B-But that you, Luke, would form a fixed party! You, who were always avoided because of your race—!"
Wendy's eyes welled up, as if she were deeply moved.
And that made perfect sense. Wendy was my assigned receptionist, after all.
She had watched me run around solo for two whole years, every single time.
Wendy had occasionally gone beyond the simple receptionist-adventurer relationship and looked after me personally.
Slipping me a little food here and there,
or introducing me to odd jobs that paid money, aside from guild requests.
"It feels just like watching a child finally grow up! What exactly did you see in Luke? Did you discover his good points while doing a quest together?"
"Uh... that he's an incubus who helps with mana charging?"
"Excuse me?"
"N-No, never mind. If I had to say, I liked how he taught me everything kindly and thoroughly. He also seemed like someone I could trust when it comes to adventuring."
Explaining mana compatibility with an incubus here and now was never going to be easily believed.
Rebecca changed course and simply laid out my decent qualities.
It was a little sad how her praising voice had absolutely no soul behind it.
"You made a good choice. Luke is one of the rare, truly diligent people these days. If the two of you quest together, you'll be promoted in no time."
"Got it..."
I tugged Rebecca back as she was chiming in with Wendy.
Rebecca, who had been about to bring up the topic of requests, stared at me with a puzzled look.
"What? Aren't we supposed to take requests? We need to get work from the receptionist."
"No need for that today. There are other places to pick up requests. We might even get better ones than what Wendy can give us."
"Better requests...? So that means we can make more money?"
I nodded.
The moment money came up, Rebecca instantly got on board.
When I turned and headed for the upper floor of the guild building, Rebecca trotted along right behind me.
"Hey, I'm coming! Where are we going, anyway!"
"The Recruitment Office."
"Recruitment... Office?"
As we walked, I explained to Rebecca about the place we were heading.
"There are two ways to take on requests at the Adventurer's Guild. One is consulting with your assigned receptionist. The other is finding requests yourself at the Recruitment Office on the second floor."
"Isn't it easier just to leave it to the receptionist?"
"Sure, it's faster and easier that way. But Wendy is ultimately a person from the guild's side. She has no choice but to represent the guild's position. Wendy's job is to distribute low-quality requests that adventurers won't take on. She hands out requests that are about to expire because no one's taken them to adventurers who are desperate for cash. Put simply, it's hard to get good requests from Wendy."
I explained the inner workings of the adventurer industry to Rebecca.
About the role that a guild receptionist plays.
Truthfully, giving me that herb collection quest had been Wendy pushing it a little.
Because she had diverted a honey-like request that adventurers chase after—though it wasn't actually honey—for the sake of a mere Bronze Tier adventurer.
Hoping for that to happen again was a long shot. If I went to Wendy right now and asked for a request, she would run around and end up handing me some low-quality job that paid peanuts.
Rebecca listened to my words, a bewildered look on her face.
"But the receptionist seemed really kind, though. That person hands us trash requests?"
"Don't judge people by how they look. Of course Wendy is kind. But she's got bosses breathing down her neck too, and a family to take care of. Don't assume she'll always go out of her way for Bronze Tier adventurers like us."
"Got it."
The moment my explanation ended, we reached the second floor.
The entire second floor was used as the Recruitment Office, so there was no need to navigate separate hallways.
When we opened the door and stepped inside, Rebecca looked around with an expression of wonder.
"There's a ton of people here."
The Adventurer's Guild Recruitment Office.
It was a place visited by adventurers looking for work and clients looking for workers.
The scene looked just like a terminal waiting room back on Earth.
With a medieval touch on top, you could say.
A massive crowd of people bustled inside the building.
"Looking for three warriors to take a caravan escort request!! Only the sturdy ones who don't get sick!!"
"Hiring a Bronze lizardman spearman!! Excellent swimmer!!"
"Party heading out to hunt gnolls!! We're full on dealers, just need one nun! First-time nuns welcome!!"
Shouting voices echoed throughout the hall.
Anyone here who didn't look like an adventurer could safely be assumed to be a client.
The clients were eyeing the adventurers listing off their specs like they were appraising goods.
"S-So what do we do now? What are we supposed to do?"
Rebecca seemed a bit overwhelmed by the shouting coming from all directions.
She shrank back and looked at me with a confused expression.
"Same thing. Shout that you're available for hire. Or go find a party that's recruiting. Here, the guys with the loudest voices already have half the battle won. But if you scream your head off too much, you'll get kicked out. You have to read the room, take breaks, and yell in bursts."
"I can't really get a feel for what 'reading the room' means."
"Let me give it a shot first. Watch closely and learn."
I stepped forward and cleared my throat. I took a deep breath, awakening the resonance chamber inside my body.
Shouting in the Recruitment Office isn't just about having a loud voice.
Your pronunciation has to be crisp so it cuts right into the listener's ears.
Even with the exact same hiring pitch, some adventurers get hired right away and others stay dead weight no matter how much time passes.
Why does that happen?
It's all in the diction that puts the listener at ease.
The giraffe picture I drew is a well-drawn giraffe picture — meaning you need the power of language to articulate it clearly.
I unleashed the line I had prepared in my head in one breath.
"Bronze incubus adventurer on standby!! A mad burst dealer who rips monsters to shreds without mercy!!! Also a great crossbow shot, sturdy body, top-tier among same-rank dealers!! Send me a message!!!"
People looked at me for a moment, then glanced at the horns on top of my head and shook their heads from side to side.
Muttering voices echoed from all around.
"He's an incubus. Who's gonna hire one of those? I heard filtering out incubi is standard practice among adventurers."
"Those horned demon bastards, I've never seen a single one do an honest job. They always go into heat the second they get an opening and veer off somewhere."
"No matter how short-handed we are, not an incubus. We'd be better off looking for a different adventurer."
The perception of incubi in the adventurer industry is rock bottom.
So it was nothing unusual for people to sling harsh criticism.
But I knew a little trick to flip their assessment in an instant.
It was simply announcing my newly acquired spec.
"Can use magic—!!"
I hurled out my final line with all the strength I had.
Just three words, spoken clearly and crisply.
A plain line with no flowery embellishments.
Even without any packaging around it, the moment I shouted those words, the looks in the eyes of the people staring at me changed.
"H-He can use magic...?"
"Then that means he's a mage! There was a mage among the Bronze Tier adventurers?!"
"An incubus who's a mage? Well, that's a different story—."
Of course, not everyone around me looked fully convinced. They didn't know whether my claim was bullshit or not, so they were hesitant to approach me.
Clearing up their doubts is easier than eating a piece of cake.
All I had to do was show them directly—form the hand seals and manifest a mana sphere.
"I'll show you magic!"
That was the moment I began bending my fingers and forming the hand seals.
From within the packed crowd, a voice that sounded oddly familiar rang out.
"Stop bullshitting! You fucking con artist!"
"Huh?"
Soon enough, one person pushed through the crowd and stepped out in front of me.
It was a female adventurer who looked like a rough-and-tumble tomboy.
The instant I saw her face, I realized she looked extremely familiar.
Where had I seen this woman before?
"Who are you to call me a con artist?"
"I'm Neria! I was looking for you and here we meet! You dream demon bastard who's not even worth chewing up!"
Neria.
The name jolted my memory.
Neria was definitely the adventurer I had met in front of the gates of Yoen-su not long ago.
I had once applied to join the goblin subjugation party Neria was leading.
Of course, I got flat-out rejected and chased off, but in the process I delivered some righteous justice to this woman and bolted.
"Ah, now I remember. The perfect male for you is an orc—."
I pointed a finger at Neria and winked.
Spitting out those words that roll so smoothly off the tongue brought the memory back crystal clear.
Once again, the provocation landed, and Neria's face twisted up like a demon in an instant.
"You fucking incubus piece of shit!!"
"Calm down. You're causing a scene for everyone else. So, what was that you said earlier? What makes me a con artist?"
On what grounds was she calling me a con artist?
Let's hear the reason, at least.
"Because it came out of a filthy dream demon bastard's mouth, it's gotta be bullshit! The proof is the horns on top of your head!"
"Crazy bitch."
"Anyway, get ready to die! Remington, over here!! That dream demon who humiliated me is right here!!"
As expected, there was no actual basis for it.
She'd clearly been planning to start a fight from the very beginning. Neria immediately called someone over. Soon a male adventurer pushed through the crowd and walked up to Neria's side.
He was a scrawny-looking guy with a longsword at his belt.
"Oh, Neria. That bastard's the one, right? The dream demon who spewed obscenities at our lovely Neria?"
"Yes, sweetie. I want you to beat the shit out of that dream demon brat right now."
One look and it was obvious Remington was Neria's lover.
Remington was glaring at me with bulging eyes like I'd insulted his own parents.
"What a shitshow."
I let out a sigh as I watched the two of them putting on their little performance.
Next to me, Rebecca opened her mouth with an expression that said she'd figured something out.
"Ah, those are the people, right? The adventurers who hired someone to kill you?"
"Exactly right. Wait here. I've been wanting to finish these bastards off."
Rebecca quickly grasped my meaning.
She cheered me on with a lively voice as I walked forward.
"Wreck them all!"
"Okay."
I stopped walking and faced off against Remington, who was glaring with wild eyes.
Remington had already drawn his longsword from its scabbard and was pointing it at me.
Strutting around and threatening me with the tip of his blade—pathetic.
"A fight—? Keh-heh! We've got some fine entertainment now!"
"I'm putting my money on the scrawny one!"
A knife fight was about to break out inside the building, but not a single good citizen stepped in to stop it.
That's because this fucked-up continent has a custom of settling disputes with Makgora when the numbers don't add up.
If it's a reasonable duel where both sides have a cause, standing by and watching is actually the virtuous thing to do.
In an instant, the people in the hall pulled back and created a circular arena. Remington and I stood on that stage.
Neria, the one who had started the confrontation in the first place, had already slipped off to the side and was cheering him on.
She seemed unwilling to get blood on her own hands.
"Hey, dream demon. You said you can use magic?"
"That's right."
"Kheheheh! Quit lying! How's a dream demon clansman with nothing but mating in his skull supposed to learn magic?! Surrender now and I'll let you live! Bow your head to my girlfriend and apologize!"
I dismissed the condescending Remington with a single line.
"Fuck off, dipshit."
Then I bent my fingers and began forming the hand seals.
I mechanically completed the hand seals needed to summon a mana sphere.
Though, of course, aside from Rebecca, no one here could recognize that I was actually casting magic.
Everyone in the hall watched my rapidly moving fingers with smirks on their faces.
My opponent Remington was doing the same, sword drawn and cackling.
"That's magic? That little finger show is what you call magic?!"
Well, I guess they would think that.
Because they all firmly believed there was no way a lowly dream demon could have learned magic.
People treated the dream demon race like a crippled species that only knew sex.
And that's not exactly wrong.
But the ones who treat me like a cripple are overlooking a crucial point.
"Sex."
For me, magic is sex.
If this intensely arousing act isn't sex, then what the hell is it?
If forming hand seals with my fingers is foreplay,
then completing the spell is ejaculation.
A rush of adrenaline equal to sexual excitement was now flooding my head.
Wooong—.
Finally, a shining sphere floated up above my palm.
A sphere tracing a perfect curve without the slightest distortion.
I gazed at it with an expression of rapture.
In that instant, silence swallowed the hall.
Everyone who had been sneering at me until now stared at the mana sphere with expressions of disbelief.
"A m-mage."
"A mage has appeared!"
