Is This My Workplace?
I was an aspiring hero, and now I’ve become a teacher. Beyond that, it’s difficult to explain any further. Apart from those two facts, I’ve lived a rather ordinary life.
After awakening at age twelve, I enrolled in the academy at seventeen and eventually graduated. My grades hovered in the lower-middle range, but I excelled in the uniqueness of my awakened ability and ranked highly in educational capability assessments. After that, I spent two years preparing for the academy’s employment exam before passing it.
I sometimes felt a pang of envy for my peers who were out there thriving as active heroes or hunters. Yet when I looked at those who hadn’t succeeded, I realized my choice was far superior.
Even if lower-tier active combatants earned more in some respects, they also faced the constant danger of sudden death. For someone like me—who possessed neither particular talent nor aptitude for combat from the start—this was the ideal outcome.
“...... This is the right place, no doubt about it.”
That’s why I had been anticipating today—my first day on the job—more eagerly than anyone else.
The role of a teacher at the Central Awakener Academy was incredibly prestigious, both in terms of its importance and how society viewed it. The honor it carried was on par with becoming a full member of a respectable guild or mercenary band.
Therefore, there was no chance I had arrived at the wrong location. After all, I had verified it multiple times just yesterday.
A nameplate bearing that title and a building that looked oddly different from the one in my memories now stood before me.
