The Only Thing I Desire Is Revenge
I knelt politely before the Demon King who had appeared before my eyes. The only thing I desired was revenge.
“Be at ease and sit. I hope I have not disturbed your meal.”
The Demon King spoke in a calm voice as she looked at me. Her tone carried a sense of composure.
“Ah… No, not at all. I was just about to finish anyway. On the contrary, I don’t know where to put myself after receiving such a magnificent meal from you.”
“I am grateful that you say so.”
At my words, the Demon King showed a smile for a brief moment. It was cold, yet so breathtakingly beautiful that it left me dizzy. Seeing that expression, I sat down comfortably as she had instructed. Then the Demon King looked at me and asked in a calm voice.
“So, are you satisfied with life here? If there is anything inconvenient, tell me without hesitation.”
“Ah… No, there is nothing inconvenient at all. Rather, I don’t know where to put myself because you are treating me far too well.”
“Is that so?… Then I am truly relieved.”
At my answer, the Demon King gave a small smile that seemed to carry a hint of relief. Her appearance was indeed beautiful, but apart from that, my heart tightened with genuine tension in this moment.
The Demon King appeared to be showing me kindness at first glance. However, through the dark shadow cast over her face as she looked at me, I once again steeled my resolve deep in my heart.
That unpleasant expression lingering on her face even while we talk… From the look of it, the Demon King is still clearly suspicious of me. Since I’ve sworn loyalty, it seems she has no immediate plans to do anything to me… But if I don’t quickly establish some noticeable achievements, things could become quite dangerous.
The oath of loyalty to the Demon King had been full of regrets from the very first button. Besides, no matter what, my race was still human. I needed to prove my loyalty to her as quickly as possible—not as a human hero, but as a warrior of the demon race.
Revenge was revenge, but more than anything, I needed to live a sweet life as her trusted aide without any danger. That was the priority.
She must have come here to give me some kind of order. Perhaps, as a test of my loyalty, she’ll order me to attack a human city or something like that.
The easiest way to test whether a newly acquired hunting dog would obey its master’s commands was simply to give it work. In that sense, I felt like a new employee receiving his first assignment. At the same time, with the firm thought that I must seize any opportunity to build merit, I looked at the Demon King before me and asked in a serious voice.
“Then, Your Majesty. I would like to hear the reason why you have come to visit this humble subject in person…”
“The reason I have come to see you, you say?”
At my words, the Demon King began to show a more serious expression. Although even that look of hers was impossibly beautiful, I did my best not to show any such emotion and spoke to her in a voice filled with as much loyalty as I could muster.
“Yes, Your Majesty. Do you have any orders for this subject who has become Your Majesty’s sword? Please give me any command. No matter what it is, I will accomplish it by any means necessary.”
“Mmm…”
At my words, the Demon King slowly nodded with an even darker expression. Seeing that, I became certain that she had come here prepared to test me.
What on earth is she going to order me to do?… Is she going to tell me to massacre humans… or to conquer an entire castle… something like that?
Whichever it was, in order to prove my loyalty, the Demon King’s command would undoubtedly include killing humans. However, unlike the original hero, I honestly didn’t feel any particular reluctance about it.
After all, this was the world inside an NTR game. The humans of this world were generally far from normal. Merchants who scammed the hero party that was supposed to save the world, villagers who pretended to provide food and shelter only to steal belongings or frame people, naturally breeding distrust toward humans. And as a bonus, every single lord was so rotten that it made you wonder how they had managed to rule their territories until now.
It was a complete trash-heap hell that made you think it would be more realistic for a revolution to break out and destroy human society rather than the Demon King and the demon race doing it.
Now that I think about it, maybe the reason these guys formed a racial alliance and are beating up the demons is because of this kind of background…?
Even in reality, when domestic politics or the economy were in shambles, leaders often invaded other countries to divert the people’s attention. If that happened even in modern times where civic consciousness was supposedly awake, there was no need to say more about a medieval fantasy world where such ideas were nonexistent.
Anyway, since the overall state of humanity was fundamentally rotten, I didn’t feel any reluctance about causing chaos among them. Rather, the more seriously I thought about it, the more I felt a refreshing desire to thoroughly punish the humans and the racial alliance that had driven the hero to such a dog-like ending of NTR and betrayal despite saving the world.
And at this very moment, I waited for the Demon King’s command while showing the sincere motivation that had arisen from this background. The Demon King let out a small sigh as if she didn’t quite believe it, then began to give me her ‘order.’
The Demon King had told the hero to speak of what he needed. She had been prepared to grant him wealth, power, or even as many women as he desired.
However… the hero had answered her request with firm determination. There was nothing he needed right now. The only thing he wanted was the Demon King’s command. In other words, he wanted the opportunity to take revenge on those humans.
And crucially… the moment he said those words, the hero displayed a terrifyingly powerful determination. The fact that he, who possessed the strongest power, held such fierce fighting spirit was undoubtedly a positive thing for the national interest of the Demon Kingdom.
Yet despite that, seeing him like this, the Demon King could not help but feel a rather unpleasant emotion in many ways.
She had felt a small sense of relief upon hearing that the hero had enjoyed his meal. But now that she thought about it, his behavior seemed to have been nothing more than replenishing energy to clearly achieve the revenge that had seeped into his bones.
I had considered the possibility, but I never imagined he would truly ask to be sent to a blood-soaked battlefield… Hero, is there truly nothing left in your head but that? Nothing but this burning desire for revenge?
The words of a once noble warrior were now so utterly miserable. Nevertheless, despite the hero’s truly pitiful state, the Demon King had no choice but to give the order. It was something he himself wanted, and more importantly, the mission she had assigned him held critical importance that absolutely had to be successful at this point in time.
“Understood, Your Majesty the Demon King. This subject will definitely receive Your Majesty’s command and carry it out perfectly.”
The hero shouted toward her with deep loyalty and joy. Seeing him like this, the Demon King hardened her face as much as possible to hide a momentary sense of guilt, then slowly nodded and answered.
“Then I entrust it to you, Hero.”
“Yes, Your Majesty!”
