I was kidnapped.
Have you ever imagined something like this? A freak who gets stronger the more you hit him—and actually enjoys it? Someone who looks like the most virtuous sage alive, but is secretly a split-personality killer with a serious urge to murder? A mad genius of a mage who stubbornly uses only a single school of magic?
Whenever I sat down to play, I loved dreaming up concepts like that and building them out. For me, Babylon Fantasy was a god-tier game that scratched that exact itch. The gameplay itself wasn't anything special, but I could rewrite the characters and certain events however I wanted—easily, freely, on a whim. Thanks to that, I never got bored no matter how many playthroughs I ran.
"What kind of NPC should I make this time?"
I'd already tried so much that nothing new came to mind.
"Maybe this time I'll just make an event where the NPCs realize they're characters in a game?"
A game is just a game, after all. Even if they figured it out, it would still be nothing more than a game. Nothing more than a system.
