Chapter 501: Afterword
[Three Years of Time]
Nature of Possession / Possession is my Nature, which saw its prologue posted on February 7, 2022, has finally come to an end today, August 17, 2025.
I would like to express my deepest gratitude to the readers who have stayed with me for over three years.
A lot has happened during this time.
My favorite LoL team won Worlds twice, there was an impeachment, and I underwent two surgeries.
It feels like only yesterday that I first uploaded The Nature of Possession, so it’s startling to realize that three years have already flown by.
[Three Completions]
Including The Nature of Possession, I have now completed three web novels.
Every time I finish a project, I feel the same way: there are areas where I’ve grown compared to my previous work, but also parts where I feel I’ve regressed.
Still, I’m personally satisfied because I can see small improvements here and there.
[Thanks To]
I’m not sure if mentioning specific sites for gratitude fits the atmosphere of Novelpia, but I felt it was the right thing to do.
My thanks go out to the 'Genre Novel Gallery,' the 'Genre Novel Channel,' the 'Yandere Channel,' and the YouTuber 'Panchung.'
Thank you for discussing and sharing stories about my novel.
[The Nature of Possession: An Incomplete Conclusion]
There is a saying that "a finished yandere novel is an incomplete one."
I believe this phrase emerged back when "Regret, Obsession, and Angst" tropes were being mass-produced and fast-paced yandere novels were flooding the market.
From that perspective, I suppose The Nature of Possession has become "incomplete" because I actually finished it.
Yes, I’m just talking nonsense.
[Next Work]
I’ve already prepared the material for my next project.
I have a direction for how to write it, and I really want to start.
However, as I am now approaching my mid-thirties, I’ve decided that I need some time to rest.
I still have radiation therapy left, and it seems it will take quite a while to restore my body, which has been weakened by surgery, back to normal.
I’ll likely reappear like a rookie author just as I’m beginning to fade from your memories.
I look forward to the day you leave a comment with a familiar ID on my new work.
[Emotions and Regrets]
As I write this afterword after scheduling the final chapter, my feelings are incredibly complex.
I feel as though a great weight has been lifted, yet at the same time, I’m filled with the lingering regret that I could have done better.
Personally, I feel the most regret regarding the Gym PT Trainer and the Private Tutoring episodes.
I could have written them better; I suppose that was simply the limit of my ability at the time.
I also regret the Magical Girl episode because I didn't handle the "Regret, Obsession, and Angst" elements in the latter half very well.
If I had to rank my satisfaction with the main heroine episodes...
I think it would be Emma, Maria, Heavenly Demon (1st and 2nd), Isis, Mina, Chun-hyang, and then Seong-ah.
[Recommendation List]
The reason I first joined Novelpia was when I encountered something about Abused Elf on the internet.
"Buying an elf as a slave? Have you lost your mind?"
That’s how I found Novelpia, and after witnessing a few cover censorship issues, I ended up reading many works here.
I believe the greatest virtue of a good novel—especially a good web novel—is that it makes you want to read it again.
Therefore, I’d like to share the novels I’ve added to my favorites and periodically binge-read.
I’ve listed them in the order they came to mind:
If there are any you haven't read yet, I highly recommend giving them a try.
[To Those I Am Truly Grateful For]
Aside from the "Thanks To" section, there are people I am truly, deeply grateful for.
And those are you, the readers.
I believe that a story serialized on a platform ultimately has no meaning without its readers.
While writing 500 chapters, I faced many hardships.
The reason I never went on an indefinite hiatus wasn't because I am exceptionally diligent, or because I have a profound sense of responsibility, or because I was filled with confidence.
It was entirely because you, the readers, loved Possession is My Nature.
For that, I am truly grateful.
Thank you so much for loving my writing, which I started with a simple desire to prove myself.
[Final Greetings]
The three years I spent serializing Possession is My Nature were incredibly fun and meaningful to me.
I will take my leave now, hoping that this story remains in your memories.
I hope the remainder of 2025 is a meaningful and joyful year for all of you.
Sincerely,
Hajal
PS: Just for today, I think it would be lovely if everyone took a moment to congratulate one another in the comments.
