Chapter 261: Part 1 Afterword and Future Plans
Hello, this is Hajal.
I didn't expect to be greeting you like this so soon. With the conclusion of Part 1 of The Nature of Possession, I’ve come to share a few words.
1) Regarding EP10
EP10 started with a single question: "What if In-ho were thrown into a situation where he was completely helpless from the very beginning?"
I believed that as In-ho grows, the situations he faces should become increasingly difficult.
I wanted In-ho—who has gained some combat power and achieved mental growth (at least in his own mind)—to face a situation where he couldn't do a thing this time around.
However, while I think the beginning went well, I regret that the ending felt a bit lackluster due to my personal circumstances, which I’ll explain later.
I also took the opportunity to practice depicting the psychological warfare between women over one man, but it seems I still need more training.
2) Why isn't In-ho growing?
He has definitely grown in terms of combat ability. However, I believe he is a character who still needs more time regarding his mental maturity.
This is just based on my personal experience, but I believe it takes time for a person to truly evolve.
Even if someone gains an epiphany, it takes time for that to be fully internalized into their body and mind.
I often think about this when I'm training new employees at work. No matter how much you emphasize something, the same mistakes and errors are repeated.
If In-ho were the type of person to grow from a single experience, the frustration might be less, but unfortunately, he is still a flawed human being who makes frequent mistakes.
3) The Structure of The Nature of Possession
I have planned the story in three major parts.
Both Part 2 and Part 3 will continue as free-form serialization.
Originally, I intended to keep this three-part structure to myself while continuing the series, but...
4) Hiatus
There will likely be a hiatus of at least two months between Part 1 and Part 2.
You might be thinking, "So suddenly?" To explain this, I need to tell you about my current situation.
My health has deteriorated significantly lately.
It's not a specific chronic illness; rather, it seems my body is starting to break down due to accumulated stress. My age probably played a part as well.
As my health declined, I found it difficult to produce well-structured writing or evocative expressions. I found myself repeating expressions and relying on summaries and omissions to move the plot forward. I suspect the somewhat bland progression of the story was due to this.
After much deliberation, I’ve decided that health comes first and will take a break before starting Part 2. During this time, I plan to restore my health and replenish my depleted ideas.
5) So, will you be resting completely between Part 1 and Part 2?
Yes.
However, I am considering uploading some one-shot Side Episodes if I find the time. This isn't confirmed yet; I'm just considering it for now.
6) Closing Remarks
As I always say, I was only able to continue this serialization because of all of you.
I will do my best to recover and return in good health. I would appreciate your support for my recovery.
April 14, 2023.
Sincerely, Hajal.
