Chapter 220: Exchange Meeting-1
"Phew... things are finally back on track."
The matter that had been grating on her nerves for some time was finally drawing to a close.
In truth, it wasn't quite finished. However, Maria had headed for the Church, and soon, many things were destined to crumble beneath her greatsword.
The woman, who had been observing the dimensions, stretched her arms wide.
She settled her hips into a comfortable armchair that had manifested out of nowhere.
"I'm tired."
Solaris looked up at the massive cluster of stars flowing across the sky.
It was a decoration of sorts, created entirely according to her personal taste.
As she stared blankly at the ceiling, Solaris let out a hollow laugh, as if something had struck her as funny.
"Looking at things like this, I can't really tell the difference between myself and a mortal. Aside from the lack of aging... there doesn't seem to be much of a difference at all."
She chuckled under her breath, then muttered to herself as if the thought were absurd.
She recalled her own death.
It was a mortal memory now so faint that she had to grope through her mind for a long time to find it.
For the glory of her country, she had risen with a banner in hand and died on the battlefield.
Gloriously.
[Solaris, possessor of a noble soul. From this moment on, you shall become a Dimension Management God.]
She remembered the time she had first entered the Training Academy.
[A Dimension Management God is not a god.]
How contradictory those words had seemed; that was what she had thought at first.
But as time passed and she carried out her duties as a Dimension Management God, she gradually came to realize what those words meant.
That the beings called 'Gods' were truly of a different Realm entirely.
That a Dimension Management God was merely an existence that mimicked a tiny fraction of a 'God's' authority.
A noble soul passes through the Training Academy to become a 4th Class Dimension Management God.
A 4th Class Dimension Management God performs their duties and raises their Realm.
That is how one becomes 3rd Class, then 2nd, and 1st.
The limit of the Realm that a mortal's noble soul can reach ends at 1st Class Dimension Management God.
And they are called Dimension Management Gods.
Not gods.
Solaris had never once met a God.
Even a 3rd Class God was difficult to face; she couldn't imagine how much she would tremble if she were to meet a true God....
Solaris shook her head.
"Kang In-ho."
She uttered the name of the noble soul she had met.
"Looking at his spells, it doesn't seem like he cares about the class of the dimension.... If that's the case, it means he could cross over into 2nd or 1st Class Dimensions."
Solaris reached her arm toward the ceiling.
As she clenched her fist toward the flowing cluster of stars, their movement ground to a halt.
"Then, could a Unique Dimension be possible as well?"
She murmured in a voice laced with a mixture of doubt and worry.
The concern that had surfaced on Solaris’s face vanished as quickly as March snow.
"A Unique Dimension would be impossible. It should be impossible to enter a dimension managed directly by a 'God' using a spell created by a mere Dimension Management God."
Of course, that must be it, Solaris thought.
*
A few days later, Solaris received a visitor.
Someone attempted a Dimension Entry into her space. After verifying the visitor's identity, Solaris opened the Door of Light.
As a blue rift formed, two women stepped into her space.
"Hey there, Solaris! Still got that boring face, I see."
A woman with short hair walked in, waving her hand energetically.
"Runin. It's been a while."
Solaris stood up and welcomed her peer.
"Let's see, I think it's been about fifty years. Keep in touch once in a while. What are you so busy with?"
Runin wore a broad smile as she slapped Solaris on the shoulder.
"I've been a bit busy."
As Solaris gave an awkward smile, Runin scanned the vast space.
"Ugh... nothing's changed here. At least you put something on the ceiling."
"Yes. Like you said, Runin, it was too desolate. I put a cluster of stars there to look at while I rest."
"Right, you should decorate a bit."
Runin laughed boisterously and began thumping her on the back.
Just as Solaris’s body was being jolted by Runin's heavy hand, her gaze caught the companion who had come with Runin.
"But who is that...?"
The moment Solaris spoke, a woman with wavy chestnut hair straightened her posture and shouted.
"Ah! Hello, Senior! I am Empen, a 4th Class Dimension Management God!"
It was the shout of a rookie who was wound tight with discipline.
"Oh, she's the one who graduated from the Training Academy this time. She's been assigned to our sector."
"Ah... nice to meet you. I am Solaris, a fellow 4th Class Dimension Management God."
Solaris smiled and extended her hand.
"Y-Yes! It is an honor to meet you!"
Empen remained frozen in a rigid posture, her eyes fixed at a forty-five-degree angle in front of her, making the extended hand feel quite awkward.
Solaris withdrew her hand with a strained laugh.
"Hey, you'd better stay on her good side. She's about to become a 3rd Class Dimension Management God soon."
Runin cackled, throwing an arm around Empen's shoulder.
"That's enough of the useless talk. Anyway, what brings you here? I don't think this is just a meeting to introduce Empen."
Solaris frowned at the blatant flattery.
"The Exchange Meeting is coming up soon, so I came to ask if you're attending. And to see your face while I'm at it."
Runin looked at Solaris’s face while playfully tugging on Empen's cheek.
The Exchange Meeting.
It was an event where Dimension Management Gods from the same sector gathered to socialize.
"Who is hosting the Exchange Meeting this time? To be honest, last time..."
Solaris replied, recalling the previous meeting. She never wanted to go back to the one hosted by a 3rd Class Dimension Management God.
"Oh, don't worry about that. Senior Nibiru said she'd be hosting it herself this time."
Runin boasted, wagging her index finger.
"If it's Senior Nibiru... then most of the Dimension Management Gods will be attending."
Solaris placed a hand on her chin, lost in thought.
"You're... attending, right? Hey, if she doesn't go, you're getting a total beating, okay?"
"I-I'm sorry!"
Runin teased Empen while keeping an eye on Solaris’s reaction.
"I'll attend."
Solaris spoke to Runin, who was stretching Empen's cheek again.
"As it happens, I had something I needed to see Senior Nibiru about anyway."
Solaris had the look of someone who had finished a set of calculations.
