Prologue: The Incident Where I, an Average Guy, Became a Magical Girl
Why the hell did it come to this? What just happened?
“W-woaaaaaaaah! Stay away! Don’t come any closer!”
I was sprinting desperately down a dark alley.
Going outside at this hour was a mistake. A massive fuck-up. This wasn’t supposed to happen.
All because I’d thought it would just be a quick run to the convenience store. If I could, I’d travel back in time and beat the living shit out of the idiot I was ten minutes ago.
“Stop.... You there......!”
The world had gone completely insane.
Roughly ten years ago, these grotesque beings and deranged monsters started appearing. They attacked people without rest, no breaks, no holidays.
Any man they caught was kidnapped and transformed into one of their own. Any woman they caught suffered humiliations too vile to even look at.
I’m a healthy, red-blooded male. I even finished my full military service not long ago.
There is zero doubt. I’m a man. Male on every official record and unmistakably male in physical structure.
If something like me got captured by those creatures, I’d simply be turned into another suspicious monster.
If it stayed humanoid I might cope, but the thought of my head morphing into a giant mushroom, or both hands turning into drills, or my body becoming some grotesque pig-dog hybrid…
Or maybe adamantium claws like Wolverine sprouting from between my fingers. That was the miserable reality we lived in.
But.
As I ran for my life, a small voice in the back of my mind was seriously wondering whether becoming one of those horrific monsters might actually be the better option.
That was how overwhelmingly terrifying the thing chasing me was.
Just imagining it made my teeth chatter, my legs go weak, and my hands shake uncontrollably.
No. Please.
Don’t come near me. Stay the hell away.
Anything but that. Please, anything but…!
“Ack! Shit……!”
Paralyzed by fear and running like a clown, I tripped over my own feet and slammed into the ground.
A fatal blunder. Falling at a moment like this was beyond stupid.
“Heh, hehehehe… Finally. I’ve finally caught up…”
“No… No! Stay away! I said stay away! Why me?! No!”
I screamed like a madman, clawing at the ground in a frantic attempt to crawl away, but it was pointless.
The non-human lifeform in front of me—a fairy that looked exactly like a palm-sized cat plush toy—pointed one tiny, adorable hand at me and declared with total confidence!
“Nooooooooooooooooo~~~~~~~~~!!!!”
