Chapter 9
Chapter 9
The Mad Priest of the Slums #9
Knock. Knock. Knock.
The steady rhythm of knocking pulled me from sleep.
I sat upright on the bed and stretched lightly to loosen the stiffness in my muscles.
“Come in.”
The door opened, revealing the woman in a suit I had seen several times since yesterday.
“Did you rest well?”
“Yes. Very well.”
Not an exaggeration. The moment I lay down last night, the first thought that came to mind was how expensive this bed must be. There wasn’t a single thing to complain about.
“I’m glad. The boss has a schedule and will return this evening. Until then, I will assist you.”
As expected of someone who ruled the northern slums, Benjamin seemed quite busy.
“Then I’d like a simple breakfast.”
“Where would you like to eat? I can have it prepared here if you prefer.”
“No, that’s fine.”
I preferred eating at a proper table.
“Then I’ll have it prepared in the main building.”
“Alright. I’ll take a quick shower.”
She bowed slightly and left.
The warm water calmed my mind.
‘Maybe I should look for a place to live this afternoon.’
Even if Benjamin promised full support, relying too much on someone would only create problems later.
There had to be a line.
His help would be enough in the form of manpower and connections—nothing more.
“Now that I think about it, these clothes are expensive too.”
The shirt I took from the closet cost 8,000 won.
That translated to 80,000 Mora.
Which meant—
About 8 million won in real value.
“No wonder it feels good.”
I finished dressing, put on the robe, and wore the rosary.
When I stepped out—
The woman was waiting.
“You don’t have to wait.”
“I am your secretary and guard.”
…Stubborn type.
“What’s your name?”
“…I apologize.”
“Call me ‘Secretary’ for today.”
“Alright. Secretary.”
We walked in silence.
After breakfast, she explained the different districts and their rulers.
It was interesting enough that I lost track of time.
When noon struck—
“Shall I prepare lunch?”
“No. I’ll skip it.”
Better to keep my stomach empty for what I was about to do.
“Have you ever tortured someone?”
“…I have done it. And experienced it.”
Interesting.
“If you had to extract everything and maximize pain, how would you do it?”
She thought carefully and gave detailed answers.
“Thank you. I might hire you as an assistant next time.”
“If the boss अनुमति, I will assist.”
“Bring a chair. Let’s go down.”
“Yes.”
She carried a chair with one hand.
We headed to the basement.
“Priest!!”
The prisoner greeted me eagerly.
“Place it here.”
She set the chair down.
I sat.
“Ready?”
“Yes!”
His eyes were full of something else—
Desire.
“What’s your name?”
“Deungyun!”
“Good.”
I crossed my legs.
“It’s time to dream.”
Thud.
He collapsed instantly.
Because of the contract.
“About two hours.”
“Yes.”
She stayed.
I closed my eyes.
“The most beautiful being is Verdia.”
My consciousness faded.
“…This place.”
I stood in the bedroom from this morning.
“The bed left an impression.”
I sat on the sofa.
The mark on my hand—
Pink lips.
“Summon Deungyun.”
A dark space opened—
He fell onto the bed.
“Priest?”
“Yes. Stay there.”
He lay down obediently.
“Summon Olivia.”
She appeared—
Fell off the sofa.
“…Ugh?”
“Hello.”
“W-what?!”
She covered her face.
“Why?”
“…It’s a woman thing…”
Didn’t matter.
I approached the bed.
“Deungyun.”
“Yes?!”
“I’ll restrain you for the assistant’s safety.”
“Please use heavy chains!!”
“Alright.”
Chains formed—
Binding him to the bed.
“Ready.”
I created tools.
A needle.
Saltwater.
“Do you know something?”
“…What?”
“In dreams, time can be controlled.”
“…?”
He looked confused.
I smiled.
