Anomalous Event (2)
Lee Si-a was doubting with all her might what she was seeing right now.
Ding dong. Ding dong. Ding dong. Ding dong. Ding dong. Ding dong.
The delivery man frantically pressing the doorbell while Han Mir casually chased after him without a care in the world. The speed of Han Mir’s running was beyond imagination, enough to make even anomalies panic. The delivery man had hammered the bell dozens, hundreds of times in a row, but Han Mir was leisurely catching up behind him.
Lee Si-a swallowed hard, watching the scene.
This isn’t human. It’s an anomaly itself. How could any human leap kilometers in a single breath?
‘He said he was the hero.’
The information her team leader had mentioned. The protagonist of the story where he went to another world like a fantasy novel and defeated the Demon King. He was now chasing the delivery man, spitting and shouting the same words over and over.
“Where is it? Where is it? Where!”
“…What are you looking at to call him a hero.”
A hollow laugh escaped Lee Si-a’s mouth. A fight in an area she couldn’t intervene in. Or was this even a fight?
The delivery man desperately running away, Han Mir chasing after him. No matter who looked at it, it was one-sided harassment.
Han Mir tilted his head, staring at the back of the delivery man’s head. The strange delivery man who only pressed the doorbell and ran. Was he trying to bait him by disguising as a delivery man? But the envelope in his hand was the chicken brand bag from the place Han Mir had ordered.
I don’t know what happened, but what was important to Han Mir right now wasn’t escaping the anomalous event or scolding the scammer. It was tearing into the juicy chicken.
Han Mir smacked his lips and said.
“Is that my chicken? Yeah?”
Han Mir asked while pressing his face close to the motorcycle helmet. But the delivery man just pressed the bell faster instead of answering.
Han Mir, who could no longer tolerate the delivery man’s habit of not answering properly.
“!!!!”
The boy grabbed the chicken without hesitation. The delivery man jumped in surprise, looking at the hand holding the envelope. There, instead of the chicken, was the payment.
Han Mir, having achieved his goal, stopped jumping and smiled brightly while opening the envelope.
“Hmm~ Tasty chicken~ Chicken that two people eat but one dies without knowing~ Chicken that medieval fantasy longed for so much~”
A cheerful whistle came from Han Mir’s mouth. His chest was about to explode with excitement.
Medieval fantasy. It wasn’t a romantic space overflowing with dreams and hopes.
The toilets and beds were as dirty as you could give, and the streets were full of filth and bugs. Sleeping in the forest, you were likely to be bitten by mosquitoes. Monsters in the forest, bandits and thieves in the city, and transportation was the worst, so you had to endure the pain of sore legs from walking or broken butts from riding horses every time.
No romance, just the worst environment where survival was the priority. Someone might say going to another world is a dream, but to Han Mir, that was no different from humiliation.
In fantasy novels, the other world is beautifully depicted, but the ugly and dirty background was something people who were fed up with the convenience of modern conveniences couldn’t endure even for a day.
Still, the hardships of life-and-death labor and the pain from the messy hygiene could be endured by clenching teeth. But there was one thing Han Mir couldn’t endure.
Food.
As civilization developed, food also evolved pursuing ultimate taste. Looking around, only gourmet restaurants survived, and mediocre ones closed. Han Mir’s tongue, who had enjoyed gourmet restaurants chasing ultimate taste, couldn’t bear to eat the rotten medieval fantasy food.
Even that, because of the hero’s nature, he had to advance towards the Demon King’s castle, so he ate only preserved food.
The hard meat jerky that had to be chewed with spit, the brick bread with strength to break enemy bowls, the disgusting water in the bottle full of microbes that caused diarrhea and vomiting at the slightest gap.
It was truly horrible food.
But was the inn’s food tasty?
It wasn’t either.
Most food had either bland or extremely salty taste or no taste at all. Occasionally, invited to a luxurious party and eating food that looked delicious, it was still inferior compared to modern food.
No matter what food he ate in the other world, Han Mir’s expression was always sour. Every time he ate food he wanted to spit out, he thought of only one thing.
Crispy fried chicken with well-seasoned, spicy and salty taste. He was swept up by the impulse to bite into it and enjoy the juicy meat spreading in his mouth to his heart’s content.
So, when returning to the real world, he had decided to make eating chicken the first thing.
And finally, that moment had come.
The boy swallowed hard.
How much he had waited for this moment.
His trembling hand slowly began to open the pure white envelope. To savor the ultimate taste hidden inside.
Han Mir’s mouth gaped.
Srruk.
The knot of the envelope loosened.
“…”
A deep shadow fell on his face.
“Haa.”
The envelope where the chicken he had waited and longed for so much should have been was empty.
His fingers stroked the inside of the empty chicken box as if in disbelief.
“Puhak!”
Han Mir covered his mouth. But even so, a creepy laugh leaked out.
He slowly raised his head and looked ahead.
The delivery man, who had become so far away that it was almost invisible.
Kugugugu-!
The entire corridor suddenly began to shake as if an earthquake had occurred.
“Kyaak!”
Lee Si-a lost her balance and staggered, falling over. She couldn’t hide her confusion, looking around. The inner walls of the corridor were cracking and splitting. In the center stood Han Mir.
“W-what’s going on all of a sudden!?”
Lee Si-a didn’t understand the situation at all. The sudden taking away of the delivery man’s envelope and sitting down happily by Han Mir who was chasing the anomaly, and the sudden phenomenon occurring in the anomalous event.
Ppiibibibik-!
At that moment, a loud alarm sounded in her pocket. Lee Si-a hurriedly put her hand in her pocket and pulled out the device emitting the intense warning sound.
“What, what!? 500H!?”
The danger level that had been slowly rising from 100H until just now had skyrocketed unreasonably. This was a B-rank anomalous event level.
Moreover, the value was rising even faster as time passed.
Kwang-!
Along with the explosion sound from Han Mir’s side, the space shook as if the entire space was twisted.
Lee Si-a was hit by the falling concrete fragments from above and stared blankly at Han Mir.
His hand was emitting a sinister dark red light.
And.
The delivery man anomaly was rushing fiercely towards Han Mir like a wild boar. No, it wasn’t rushing. Rather, the opposite.
It was being pulled. Flailing in the air, no matter how much he kicked his feet, he didn’t get away, but rather was sucked towards Han Mir at an even faster speed.
Thud.
The delivery man’s motorcycle helmet was caught in Han Mir’s grip. His hand holding the helmet trembled slightly and at the same time, spiderweb-like cracks appeared on the pitch-black helmet.
“Haa.”
Han Mir burst into laughter and whispered into the delivery man’s ear.
“Playing with food now?”
Kwang-!
He slammed the delivery man to the floor and brought the empty chicken box neatly placed next to him.
“What is that? What does it look like? Do you think that’s chicken in your eyes? Huh? Huh? Huh!?!?!?!”
“!!!!”
The anomaly couldn’t speak. He just flailed his limbs like a worm desperately trying to survive.
“Where’s the chicken? Where’s the chicken? Where did you hide my chicken? Huh? You’re playing tricks? I’ll let you off this one time. Give me the chicken right now.”
Han Mir whispered to the delivery man with an expression that would scare even demons. His eyes quickly scanned the delivery man’s body. But no matter where he looked, there was no space to hide the chicken.
“Chicken delivery came. You came to deliver chicken to me! But, but, but why is there no chicken!!!! Even if there was chicken crumbs in the box!!!!”
A skin-crawling killing intent was spreading around Han Mir. The delivery man trembled like a body in a situation he had never experienced before. Until now, no matter who he met, he had always been in the position of the winner who could win.
When humans jumped to catch him, he would press the doorbell repeatedly to run away, giving up hope for the path ahead and mocking them.
No matter how flying a human was, it was impossible to catch him. He could just ding-dong and quickly distance himself.
No matter who, they would eventually cry tears of blood, begging to be saved, and couldn’t endure hunger and met death.
But Han Mir was different.
He not only caught up behind him, but even though he had distanced quite a bit, he pulled him down with his bizarre power.
The delivery man felt an unfamiliar sensation for the first time.
A terrifying sensation of his back being cold, shivering with chills, body paralyzed and unable to move as he wished, and heart freezing.
It was fear.
